I recieved a copy of “A Pixar Touch” a couple weeks ago and I have to say it was a fantastic book. If your planning to get the book, don’t expect a book filled with colorful pictures on every page. It chronicles everthing about Pixar from when it was a tiny group working in Lucasfilms to the release of Ratatouille. Its extremely imformative and well written. I highly recommend it for anybody who is a fan of Pixar.
Actually, it’s called ‘The Pixar Touch’. I just finished reading it myself, as a friend of mine who had been visiting relatives in California bought a copy for me from the USA (as it’s ridiculously expensive to buy otherwise).
I totally agree with you, Casey, it’s a great book, although I have to say that the production of some of the Pixar films were focused on more than others. In the case of Monsters, Inc., for example, the chapter seemed to entirely focus on the court case based on the idea that the character of Mike had been stolen from someone else, and there was this whole copyright law thing.
But it was a fascinating read, especially in regards to the early days of Pixar and the actual foundations of the company.
THE Pixar Touch is what i meant, typo.
I was thinking of getting this book pretty soon myself. But, for those who have read “The Pixar Story”, this one sounds kinda’ similiar, is it worth the money for this one too?
I’m sure it probably is, I just want to know how much new information I’ll be getting out of it. (I already own “The Pixar Story” and have finished it)
It will give more imformation about Pixar before it started doing animated films, and the films themselves, than a book like “To Infinty and Beyond.” I don’t know if it has anymore imformation in it than “The Pixar Story” on account that I have not read it. But I definetly thought it was worth the 20 bucks i spent.
Yeah, I’ll pick it up. Just wanted to know a little more, thanks.
Ooh, I gotta read this book some day. It sounds really intresting.
