The Princess and the Frog

This is random, but my English teacher’s cousin is the one who decided it would be socially irresponsible to call it The Princess and the Frog. He works at Pixar. Her other cousin inspired the scene in Lilo & Stitch where Stitch licks the inside of his nose. I thought that was pretty cool.

Yeah, Netbug, I really enjoyed the commentary on this. Loved how John Lasseter told them that if they wanted to do this, they had to do the research trip to New Orleans first. The deleted scenes were mostly extended or alternate versions of things that ended up in the movie. I liked the scene between Ray and Naveen, though, where [spoil]Ray talks about how Evangeline shines so bright, she makes him want to shine bright, too, and Naveen understands how Tiana is making him feel the same way[/spoil].

Another bonus thing I liked on the Blu-Ray was the segment showing how they used actual dancers to choreograph Mama Odie and the birds for “Dig a Little Deeper.” I liked the movie when I saw it in the theatres, but am really growing to love it after watching the BR some more.

I finally got to see this the other week on the plane, and I really enjoyed it - much more than I thought I would! The characters are likeable and I like the era the film depicts, in the sense that it hasn’t really been handled by Disney before (I don’t think). The animation was beautiful, too.

I guess the only thing that didn’t really strike well with me (though it was unavoidable to a certain extent) was [spoil]the fact that when Tiana and the Prince were both in frog-form, you sort of connected to them really well, especially as they were both in that form for the majority of the movie. But when they reverted back to their human forms, it just seemed like they were completely different people in a way, if that makes any sense.[/spoil]

My friend also watched it on the plane and we agreed that our favourite characters were Ray (whose accent we adored, haha) and Dr. Facilier.

lizardgirl, I know what you mean. That’s how I feel about the transformation in Beauty and the Beast. But I think the transformation from animal to human is always awkward.

I saw the first 15 minutes at the dentist, it actually looked pretty good. I’m going to have to rent it someday soon and see the rest, I miss Disney’s awesome 2D animation. :frowning:

That’s cool, IncredigirlVirginia! I wish I were connected to someone who inspired Disney.

/shame I just saw this movie today. /end shame IT was awesome! 6/5 stars! The songs were great, Randy Newman’s score was great. It was all great. Now that leaves Bolt and all of the Studio Ghibli films as the only movies I haven’t seen with John Lasseter’s name on it.

^ Don’t feel bad. :stuck_out_tongue: I only first saw it in March.
And I agree with you, Randy Newman did a fantastic job!

It’s a beautiful movie, I’m so happy you liked it! I actually watched it tonight, for the 100000x time! I love it!

It makes me miss New Orleans, I was there nearly one year ago!

I was in NOLA one week ago today! xD

Randy Newman did do a great job! I was listening to those songs nonstop for months after I saw the movie. I’ve got to rewatch this soon, I haven’t seen it in a little while!

Grahaha, so jealous! Did you see/do anything that was in Princess and the frog?

*I went to Lafayette Cemetery (Where Facilier died)
*I rode a streetcar (one of the Green ones on the St. Charles Line)
*Ate Benigets
*Went to Saint Louis Cathedral (Where Tiana & Naveen got married)
*Steps of Saint Louis Cathedral (Where Charlotte kissed Naveen)
*The iron fence in front of the Cathedral (where Facilier had his little booth

That’s all I can think of for the moment!

I rode a streetcar and ate benigets at Cafe du Monde.

I went to Cafe du Monde too! I couldn’t finish my benigets, their so filling!

Okay, I’m jealous. I have always wanted to try benigets.

Just saw the movie this morning, and I LOVED it!

Am I the only one who likes Tiana more as a frog?

I sort of did too—she became more flexible, in multiple senses.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Just noticed that the frogs doesn’t appear to have flippers.
But I guess they can’t prepare food without individual fingers.

I dunno about Tiana but I do like Naveen better as a frog.

I just think Tiana and Naveen are s mean to each other. I know that gets less through the movie, but it bothers me. In most movies like that they’re mean, but not that much. I don;t know.
