The Snow Thread!

Yeah where I live we can get some very snowy and very cold winters. Although it varies. For a few years we had hardly any snow at all, but the past few have been quite snowy. Especially this year. There’s been a chance for snow nearly every day since early November. Which can happen. I saw my first flakes this year in late October and we’ve gotten significant snow as late as Mid-April (I remember cuz my brother was at our baseball team’s home opener and it got snowed out!) . It can also get quite cold. A few weeks ago we had a couple days where the high was below zero. The high. meaning at night it went down even further. Factor in wind chill and it got to about -25. Plus I live in one of the few spots that can get lake effect snow. The snow just generates over the lake in bands where it can be very heavy in one place and clear just a few miles away. Oh yeah. Winter in Ohio can be an adventure.

we got antoher light sprinkling today

Well, I don’t have snow in my area, but just a few minutes ago, we got rain.

The Star Swordsman - It’s raining in your area, too? Awesome. It’s about time we got some rain down here. I thought that the news report was kidding when it said it was going to sprinkle today.

I heard it might rain harder over the weekend. Still, I wish for some snow.

The Star Swordsman - I hope it does rain harder. And, yeah, I’d love some snow, too. le sigh

Mitch: If you lived in Northern Maine where we got up to 200 inches of snow last year and a freezing cold winter this year, you would cringe at the sight of a snowflake. Winter is my least favorite time of year.

I wish it were raining here, haha! :unamused:

Spring, where are you?!!! :frowning:

little chef

red - Ho-ho!! Now, see, I couldn’t take that much snow, or such bitter temperatures for that matter. Despite the fact that I was born in Minnesota, I was raised in California, so I can’t freakin’ stand the cold. Even if it gets to 60-something degrees I freeze. :stuck_out_tongue:

You should take a vacation and visit us down here in Southern California!

– Mitch

AAHH, that would feel sooo good right now!!! I’m serious!

Average nighttime temperatures here have been just about -10 Fahrenheit. And sometimes even colder, depending on where you’re living. When we drive past the Aroostook River on our way home from church at night, I’ve seen temperatures drop to just about -24. I’m not even joking.

It’s pretty friggin’ cold over here!!! The rest of America is feeling it!!! :astonished:

Ha-ha! Gosh, that must be terrible. I can’t even imagine that. You poor folks. (snigger)

Man, I shouldn’t even be laughing. That’s just… ridiculous weather right there. Twenty-four degrees below zero?! The heck?!? shakes head

– Mitch

Mitch, it was so cold here once that I spit, and it turned to ice before it hit the ground. :open_mouth:

A fun thing to do in this weather is to take a spray bottle, fill it with boiling water, and go outside and spray it around…It’s really cool.

JesusFreak - Puh-HA!! That’s hilarious.

Cool! I’ve gotta try that spray bottle thing if I ever experience that kind of weather. (heheh)

– Mitch

I don’t think Cali will experience that kind of weather anytime soon, Mitch. Hahaha!!! You should take a trip up here… (No, take that back… your body would probably flip out over the extreme below-zero temps, lol…)

JF: I should try that bottle idea someday…

Let’s switch places! I would love to try that spray bottle thing in icy weather! I want snow, but all I got here is rain right now…

red - Ha! Heck, no. The closest California has gotten to that weather in my life time was, ohhh, I don’t know – in the 30’s, perhaps? I actually did see a few flakes in my home town one year, but that was ages ago. :stuck_out_tongue: (snigger)

Nah. I think the next flight I’ll take will be to Hawaii or something.

the snow’s practically gone now.

Wow, the snow melted so fast! It’s been in the 40s the past couple days and is supposed to be near 60 during the middle of the week. (which at this time of year feels tropical. I’m sure I’ll see people at school in shorts and flip flops). But now there is flooding dangers for the people who live near rivers. But that’s how weather around here is all year. It can change so fast. Last week it was very arctic, around 0 degrees, now it’s like late March/early April weather.

Yesterday, in the midst of all of the rain, we had some snow in the mountainous region.

I saw snow in the mountains, too! I just wish I could summon it over closer to where I live…it became warm really quickly.

We got 9 inches of snow last night (and we already had plenty of snow to begin with). Guess I have to wear boots when I walk to class now.
