I wanted to know more about the origins of the story for The Incredibles. I remember that in the DVD special features they said that he had some of the ideas many years before. On Wikipedia it also says that some of it was based off of his childhood. (I probably shouldn’t believe them!) Does anybody else know more? 
Well, he has had the idea for many years before putting the gears into motion. I know that he uses a lot of family references to portray the story and characters.
He came with the idea about 10 years before they released it. He wanted to do a story about a superhero father to represent how hard it was to balance family and work, as his wife had recently had to leave work to be a housewife, and being a dad ia hard work for a movie director.
