For one is was too loud to not wake up Andy. plus it doesn’t make sense for buzz to not get the concept of night and day. He might be deluded but he’s not stupid, and a space ranger should know that planets revolve around the sun.
Well yeah, but the Molly part would’ve been great. I could easily see Woody waking up in the crib slobberd on. Also amazed me that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen actually voiced the scene…And a bunch of sound effects appear in the final film…These scenes are pretty dark. Woody was a jerk. Even though I could see him doing such a attempt as leading Buzz to Molly’s crib in the movie.
Ooo, I remember watching this! Very interesting, I love watching deleted scenes.
I can understand why they didn’t use this scene. Buzz and Woody both seem a bit off-character. Especially Woody.
I do think these deleted scenes are really interesting. Mostly because you get to find out how Toy Story could’ve ended up.
I can see why they didn’t use it. Woody was different because this was before they revisioned his character. But I do like this scene.
When I read the title of this thread I was like “That sounds familiar…”
The only problem is that it makes Woody out to be too desperate and paranoid. Otherwise, I loved Buzz in this scene
Well, Woody was seen as a sarcastic jerk in these scenes, but I still could see Woody doing something like this out of jealously.
EDIT: Found where you got your signature, Dinoco, it was in some spanish ‘The Making Of Toy Story’ videos. Made me mad that they were Spanish…
Yeah, it seems like this scene almost made it to the animation stage. I mean, Woody was just looking for a nonviolent way to get Buzz out of his hair, like he’d later attempt with RC. I guess the real reason for this scene being taken out was time constraints, since it didn’t really advance the plot at all, and Pixar trimmed/cut MANY unnecessary scenes for the theatrical release.
The sound effects of [spoil]Buzz falling down the staircase[/spoil] and Molly demolishing Mr. Potato Head against her crib were used in the final release. I THINK the foot line Buzz said was reused?
Yes, that was originally supposed to be in that scene. And the sound effects were recycled were they saw fit. In the morning scene, you can still hear Sid’s power drill, which is still audible in the theatrical release.
I’ve always believed that scene happened but they just cut to Woody being tortured. I think Buzz got sticky darts on him from landing in so much junk.
^Exactly. There’s been some confusion, but I’m trying to confirm a couple facts once I get a book that follows an earlier script.
Good idea, but the drill scene would’ve startled me as a child. Glad they cut it!
Yeah, during that stage they were looking for excuses to cut certain scenes, and they found that the plot would still work without it, and that the audience would be too connected to Woody and Buzz to watch them get tortured (good call on their part). Which they obviously disregarded for Toy Story 3.
Better by children having no idea what they were doing, then older kids who do it just for fun…
