Leno’s second tenure as host of The Tonight Show is scheduled for March 1st. The heat surrounding him and his return is massive, and while I’m dissapointed that he is coming back, I’m not as angry as I once was. His interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show helped ease my thoughts slightly. It is all about numbers after all, and the culprit, more than anything, is NBC. My attitude is the same as Brett Farve’s two returns - if he still wants to do it, let him do it.

However, there is no denying that he is not getting any younger. He’s 59 now, and lord knows how long he can keep going. For this reason, and while it is very early to be thinking/talking about this, who will be his successor when he leaves for the second time?

My classic joke is Stephen Colbert - now, I’ve only seen him in his guest-starring role on The Simpsons (season 19 premiere, “He Love to Fly and He D’ohs”) and his role as the President of the United States in Monsters vs. Aliens, but I’d think it would be interesting, to say the least, to see him as host in the future - The Tonight Show with Stephen Colbert. I think it has a nice ring to it.

Then there’s Jimmy Fallon, current host of Late Night. He’s done a good job as Conan’s successor so far, although he joked that, “There’s been three hosts of Late Night: David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and me. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Dave and Conan, it’s that hosting this show is a one-way ticket to not hosting The Tonight Show.”

Who would you suggest for Leno’s second replacement?

I still can’t even look at him without feeling angry. That feeling will probably never go away.

As for his replacement, I could care less at this point. Yeah, I’m still bitter about the whole thing. I wouldn’t pick Craig or Stephen because they are perfect where they are (and I don’t think they’d go anyway, for various reasons). Jimmy Fallon I just don’t find funny, although I guess he would be the logical choice.

I tried to edit the poll to include one more - Wanda Sykes, but I couldn’t add her without running into some problems. It seems that someone else likes the idea of Stephen Colbert hosting the show.
