Oh yeah, I remember reading about that truck in the Joe
Ranft tribute in Art of Cars.
This is cool news. I’m glad they intend to
preserve it. It’s a nice looking truck…
I have The Art of Cars. That was a very nice tribute to
Joe.
The tow truck appears to be in good condition, aside from the paintjob. It even has its hood!

Wow, it really looks like
him…And haha, yes, the hood has remained intact! ![]()
Do you remember on the
?20 years of Pixar special? on part of that show were Michael Wallis
Quotes: There was this blue rusted old tow truck and I knew that it would end up in the movie and bi-golly it
did!
In the picture (up at the top of the page) were I posted the picture of the truck, it does NOT look
anything like the truck in the 20 years of Pixar special.
Take a look at part of the 20 years of Pixar
special and tell me if the mater truck in this video looks anything like the picture of the the other mater truck
at the top of the page.

You are going to have to fast forward threw the first 3 min. of the video to
see what I’m talking about.
My God!
well although he has his hood
now, when the truck was found out in the farm field, his hood was found a quarter of a mile away.
That is cool! ![]()

You’re right. There’s no way those two trucks are the same
one - they are completely different.
If you
do a google image search for “Amboy route 66” this picture comes
up

Oh my goodness! So many Maters!
I know right, Witch one is the real Mater!?
I think
the real Mater is the one on the ?Pixar 20 years Special? the one I posted about earlier in this topic. Because
it was the one that made it on TV.
The boom truck they found in Galena, Kansas, is definitely the one that most inspired Mater.
Michael Wallis, aka The Sheriff of Radiator Springs, led that initial Route 66 trip for Pixar, and he was there
when Joe Ranft found the truck. The truck was only recently re-discovered.
