Seems all the targets around me have Lotso, To Anyone who still needs him, go to target’s website and check the availability of lotso in nearby target stores. Then call to double check, that’s what I did anyways. Going to go pick it up later. Are there any quality issues with Lotso that I need to look out for? He’s a stuffed toy so I can only see stitching and his hard eyes being a problem.
And I hope my Toyrus does a display like that! I think they have an iron man one still. I need to check mine eventually to see if they have Jessie with good quality.
that’s an amazing display goodness! I wish I could walk into my TRU and see that, I’m going this weekend to try and buy Jesse, and maybe a Barbie…wish me luck
That one was in Provo, Utah, but it should be the standard display in all stores very soon, if not already going up. I’m going to check my store in a few minutes.
my store had the display. Not that many jessies in it though. I wish I had the money. Time to sell off some old TS1 and TS2 merchandise!(im serious lol, pm me if ya are interested in seeing what i have)
Just came back from my TRU, and they have the display up, and there were SIX Jessie’s on display. Guess how many were worth putting my $50 on the counter? NONE.
This is pathetic. I’ve managed to hand-inspect almost a dozen TSC Jessie’s now, and can’t find a single one that doesn’t have some kind of major flaws in it.
Robodad, I’m just curious, but what are the quality control issues that you saw with the Jessie’s at your Toysrus? I want to know what to look for if and when I find her here.
Here are the things that stood out the most to me:
Eye paint - on all of the Jessie’s I have looked at, the eye paint was just plain bad. It is as if they forgot how to “color inside the lines”. Either they overpainted or underpainted every single eye.
Eyebrows - some of the eyebrows appear to be double-printed. There is a slight “ghost image” next to the correct one.
Mouth - On most of them, the lip paint is oversprayed onto the teeth, making them look weird.
Hair - Rather than pull all of the hair to the side and sweep it back, they have tried to pull part of it to the side, and part to the back. On most, it just looks really sloppy. Some have exposed “scalp” showing through, and I noticed most have loose strands of yarn sticking out of the end of the braid.
Collar - The collars on several of them looked too tall, and most had uneven stitching. Quite a few even had the unfinished edge of fabric exposed on the right side (seems like it might be a manufacturing problem, since that only showed up on the right side from what I’ve seen).
Shirt buttons - Many of them had misaligned buttons.
Those are the things I’ve noticed. Other people might have seen other things as well.
Thanks, that helps me out a lot. I’m graduating high school this year, so money is getting tight with college coming up. It’s disappointing to hear that the quality is so bad with these, as Jessie and Bullseye are the ones I’ve been most looking forward to of this wave, even passing up Potato Head and Utility Belt Buzz to save money for these. Hopefully it’s just a bad first batch or something like that.
I bet it’'s possible to replace the hairline only, on Jessie, with longer yarn of the same type. Just the hairline. Tedious, but would fix the length problem as the hairline hair can be bunched around the shorter hair still creating the ponyail.
Honestly, I have no doubt that all of the problems could be fixed, and the result could be quite good. The problem for me is that I refuse to spend that much money and have the quality be that shoddy, especially after the great quality (at least for me) on Woody and Buzz.
If I can find one that delivers, out of the box, the way I think it should, then I’ll buy it. Otherwise, I’ll wait until there is a REALLY good sale price.
I hoped that after your first post RoboDad that it was just a duff bunch. Now it would seem it’s not confined to a few dozen. I hope after this initial run and by the time they hit the UK the problems are fixed. If not I will buy the mattel version with the better head sculpt and mod the clothes. It’s not on to pay a high price and expect to fix issues yourself.
It could very well be confined to that stores shipment, I noticed when I was looking for Buzz that all the ones at my K-mart (about 7 of them) had the worse QC Ive ever seen. I couldn’t believe they ever made it out of the factory they were so bad. most of them had the purple on the head bleeding over into the face, splotchy brows, etc.
The ones I saw at Toys r us that same day were much better.
I do think this is something that will improve, so just be patient. the first ones are usually the worst. Ive noticed the Woody’s on shelves now don’t have the eye paint issues the earlier ones were plagued with. so I think its just the first batch that are rushed to the point of skimping or skipping any kind of inspection. I don’t expect to pick up my Jessie until around the time TS3 releases next month. hopefully its sorted out by then. if not, I’ll keep waiting.
I wonder if its possible to order one directly from thinkway themselves…
the replacement Woody I got from thinkway was hand picked for the best quality control and really shows. Maybe they wouldn’t mind doing this for a brand new one. if not, you can simply buy one at the store that you dont like, heck, pick the worst one they have to make sure there’s no question that you deserve a better one, so they can send you a better one. just a thought. and this probably isn’t an option for people outside of the US,
I’m sure it would work for the UK kyle. I bought a Buzz robot that had a broken helmet. I contacted Jenny at Thinkway and she was so helpful. That was on a Monday and the replacement part was with me by saturday. I was gobsmacked by such a high level of service. Plus it didn’t cost a thing. Thinkway may sometimes lack qc but their customer service is second to none.
