Got the Barrel of Monkeys pobably 96 or 97. Yellow barrell, all red monkeys. Was pretty common back then.
Bo is the '95 Thinkway doll. I repainted her and made a new dress and hat for her about a month ago. I have had her since 1995.
Wheezy was bought for me at Toy Story 2 ON ICE here in Orlando around 2000.
Yup. Bought the original versions mint in box feom eBay and relished the moment I got to release them from their cardboard prisons. Ken was perfect as he was. Barbie I purchased the current TS3 Barbie to try some experimentation of blending the two together, even cut the face off of an extra Barbie from the 80s and scalped the new TS3 version to try and glue the correct hair to the correct facesculpt. What I got was a frankenbarbie that made me uncomforable to look at, so I ultimately just used the belt and hair tie from the new Barbie and cut the old one’s hair to try and give her some bangs. The hair is not screen accurate, but the rest of the outfit is as close as it can get.
Toys R’ Us in Southampton, (UK) had a large Toy Story 3 animated cardboard display today when I checked, similar to the one posted a few pages back. My excitement mounted as I approached the shelving. Alas though, while they had a lot of Toy Story 3 action figure merchandise (i.e, the approx. 3 inch high version of all the characters), and a few variations of Jessie, Buzz, lego etc, along with all of Wave 1, they did not as of yet have the Toy Story Collection Mr. Potato Head or any of Wave 2. I’m gonna have another look on June 1st… my hopes are high, the UK hype for merchandise is definately rising now.
I was also able to pick myself up a copy of ‘The Art of Toy Story 3’. Looks to be an excellent read.
Just got Jessie! She’s really cool. Does anyone else have the velcrow issue? on mine it takes a while to get her velcrow together but aside from that she’s a cool toy. ![]()
If you have a Joanns or Michaels in the area, it would be easier to get one from them rather than Thinkway:
I had to order a new buzz arm cause mine broke I opened him up to take off the old arm and the hole buzz fell apart now I think I need a hole new replacement buzz and a wire broke now his wrist comunicator is broken. So I’m having really bad luck. Hope fully I can get a new buzz.
Why did you take it apart? And if the wire came loose, it probably just needs resoldered. But if it broke, you can carefully tie the two toegether (metal parts) and wrap a piece of tape around it to cover the exposed wire.
If you’re needing some help, post some pics, I know I could help as well as a few others here.
HA! She was one of my first attempts at modifying a toy back in 1999. She was made by Mattel, and was the only “life sized” Jessie available at the time. All of the others were Barbie styled dolls. I repainted her and glued
down her hair so it pointed in the right direction.
I stole this pic from someone’s website, it is what she looked like when I bought her:
became this:
Better versions of her came out over the years, but I always thought my giant demonic version had a certain charm, not to mention sentimental value, so I kept her around. ![]()
Jessie has certainly come a long way since then, Wampar. I’ve noticed a lot of the older Jessie dolls looks a little scary, or at least psychotic. I remember owning one that had a relatively normal face, so I guess I got lucky back then!
I assume he was trying to take the helmet off.
As for those rings, yeah that does sound simpler, guess I’ll do that. I didn’t think rings like that were easily found.
I was actually trying to take the arm off the fore arm on the comunicator arm has always drooped so I was taking it off so i could have think way send me a new one but the wires that connect the sound for the comunicator poped off I dont know to get them back on I’ll post some pics the’ll be up soon.
You wanted to mod the toy and requested parts from thinkway? Did they send them or tell you to buy another one?
The arm drooped? On the toy story collection version? I had that problem on my 90s buzz, but I cant imagine that happening with the TSC version, their standards are higher than that now.
in your position I would have asked for a full replacement. seems less risky than doing it yourself.
no my buzz’s arm was broken I called them they told me to take off the arm and they would send me a replacement but then things went wrong.

After seeing some of those before and after pics, I now admire you’re modding work, but it was just something about the face that could never be fixed… Although, I will give Mattel one thing, at least it looks like a vintage doll!
I have a Jessie from around 1999 (probably later). It’s made by Thinkway, and the quality is very nice. Although her hair is molded (at least it’s done right), her chaps are the same material as Woody’s vest, and her shirt is about the same as TSC Woody’s shirt. The expression is also good.
In my collections, I usually get just the good guy things. I don’t know, call it a John Wayne complex, I just did not like collecting “the bad guys” collectibles.
Going through the latest Pixar Art of book, I noticed that the Studio Gibli Totoro figure appears not only in the day care center but also at the end of TS3.
I am a huge fan of animation, My den is primarily Pixar decorated but I have many other animated figures and art displayed here. I have never collected any figures from the Japan animation works and given that Totoro plays a role, I wanted to add him into the group I am displaying. BUT… my budget is tight, I would have to make a cut some where else to do so. So, after some long thought on the matter, I decided to go with the Totoro figure rather than Lotso. I do want to be a completest with the TSC lines, but honestly the Totoro figure appealed to me more than Lotso did.
If anyone else wants to consider this, I have found the figure on sale here:

Seems to be the best price I have been able to find on the web.
Mind showing her from behind? I’d like to get a better look at the hair cut. And did you have to rebraid the hair? I’m not sure which strands of yarn to cut though without being too notable.
I unbraided her hair, across the bottom every hole in her head produces two strands of yarn…so I cut one from each hole. The other areas were a bit trickier, so I just kind of judged where it was particularly thick, and where I could cut from but still have her entire head covered. To keep the hair tight across the back of her head I tied off the full amount and cut from under the tie…and I hot glued down the bottom portion of that tied off area so I am not too worried about it coming out the binding. Yes, I had to rebraid as well. To remove the bow I cut the ribbon close to the bow, knowing that there would be enough overlap from the thinner ponytail to hot glue it to itself when I reapplied it after her styling. Its not perfect…but it works, and the thickness of the ponytail doesn’t make me cranky anymore. The thinner ponytail also makes it seem a little longer since the yarn is not as bunched up in the thickness of the ponytail.

Yeah, I saw that one for years and debated getting her…but I never felt that the sculpt was quite good enough for me to get past the plastic hair…not to mention by that point I was pretty attached to my horror-movie-Jessie at home…though I have debated getting her off and on for ten years now. Thank goodness the Toy Story Collection came along…that debate is now over.
