Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

I have pre ordered Bullseye and Jessie on Amazon UK. They estimate delivery between 29th march-15th April. I also have potato head pre ordered on Play.com which has a 10th April date. Toys r us are re stocking wave 1 mid April.

I’m not sure if anyone has posted this before, but is anyone annoyed that RC’s remote control isn’t radio controlled but is infrared? I know that this doesn’t sound that bad, but as an infrared remote control, RC only has a line-of-sight and thus can not be controlled if something is blocking the transmission. I much prefer radio control. Plus it makes his antennae useless.

I does bug me, but so does a ton of other things, as far as being a radio controlled car, its not that great. display wise, my only gripe is the lack of a turbo mode, but it displays nicely so I tend to ignore its toy functions. I mean, I could forgive the infrared if it had better steering, was faster, and had a turbo mode, but its kinda pointless to single out that one feature.

Hi guys, I’m new to this forum and to collecting Toy Story toys, so i thought I’d pop into this topic and post some of my thoughts. So far, I have Woody (currently unopened, will be opened when I get a bit of time), Rex, RC and the army men from the Collection line, so here are some comments:

Rex: Great golden Frith on a hill, this guy is huge! Seriously, you don’t quite realise when watching the movies how big Rex is, but it’s certainly obvious in the toy. That’s good as far as I’m concerned, since I love huge toys. It is grossly overpriced (should have been the same price as Woody, in my opinion, not the same price as Buzz as it is down here in Australia), and the lack of a hinged jaw is a bit annoying, but since the sculpt, paint job (okay, a few tiny problems in paint apps, but I’ve never cared about things like that) and voice are absolutely perfect, I’m very willing to overlook these little problems. One little question, though: on the back of the box, it mentions not to move the arms or head by hand, sicne this can damage the electronics, blah, blah, blah. Is this something that’s actually likely to be a problem? I’ve accidentally shifted them a bit myself, while replacing the batteries, and he still works fine. If it is likely to be a source of damage, however, then that would probably stop me from lending him to my nieces and nephew when they come over, and it is a shame to deprive them of the fun (not to mention a little bit hypocritical for a Toy Story toy).

RC: Another perfect sculpt and paint job, as far as I can tell. One question, though: is driving him around on carpet actually likely to do any damage, or do the instructions just warn against it because it probably won’t work so well? As it stands, all the open areas in my house are carpeted, except for my parents’ room, which I’m obviously not going to commandeer to drive my toy car around.

Army men: Darn near perfect, though one little thing bugs me: there are way too many sergeants. Were there this many of those sculpts in the films? I don’t recall a good enough shot of them.

All in all, I’m impressed so far. Hoping for good things from Woody, and I plan to get Buzz (very excited for that) and the aliens (not so excited, but I might as well go for completion since they’re cheap), and of course, wave 2 (if it even makes it over to Western Australia - seriously, stores over here seem to get the first wave of a toyline, and then just stop).

One other thing that I thought you might be able to help me with. Basically, I’m trying to make a collection of as many Toy Story characters as I can, as close as possible to their proper size. Here’s a list of characters, and what toy I think would go best so far:

Toy Story

Woody: Collection (own already)
Buzz: Collection
Rex: Collection (own)
Slinky: ?
Mr Potato Head: Collection
Hamm: ? (I recall seeing a photo in this topic that showed a Hamm toy in roughly the right scale)
Bo Peep: ?
RC: Collection (own)
Army men: Collection (own)
Aliens: Collection
Mr Mike: ?
Etch: There’s probably a red Etch-A-Sketch around, but I’m not sure whether it would really be the right design/
Rocky Gibralta (I think that’s the name of the muscular toy): ?
Robot: ?
Snake: Can probably find something similar in a small kid’s section, but it will take a lot of luck to get more than superficially similar.
Those Fisher Price guys and their firetruck: There’s probably a real one around, though I don’t really go to that area of toy departments.
Lenny: ?
Mr Spell: ?
Sid’s Mutant toys: I have no idea if they’ve even done or will do toys of these guys, let alone what ones would be best.

Toy Story 2:

Jessie: Collection
Bullseye: Collection
Stinky Pete: ?
Wheezy: ?
Barbies (no, I have no intention of accounting for all the Barbies that appear in this movie, but getting Tour Guide Barbie and Wheezy’s background singers would be nice, though low priority): ?
Mrs Potato Head: I’m not too hopeful of us getting a Collection version of her, so I guess I’ll have to make do with the regular version, which still looks alright (better than the corresponding Mr Potato Head, in my opinion).

I’m sure I’ve missed some toys on there, but it will be a miracle if I can even account for all of these ones.

Hey nintendofreakgcn! Well, to help you out a bit…

Slinky: There have actually been plenty of Slinky Dog pull toys made based on Toy Story that are the right size. http://www.poof-slinky.com/Online-Store/Category/14/Product/55/

Hamm: I did post a picture of a Hamm bank that was made when the original film came out, but we haven’t been sure if it was the right size or not. The information I got for it was that it was 8 inches. http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3306/337799977o.jpg

Bo Peep: Have we talked about this one here yet? http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1218/352527371o.jpg

Mr. Mike: Another old toy made during the original film (since it’s a cassette player I highly doubt they would make this now). http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/9571/0fe1c060ada063192c67811.jpg

Etch: There is a Toy Story Etch a Sketch out. Toysrus.com, The Official Toys”R”Us Site - Toys, Games, & More

Rocky Gibraltar: They’re not the right size, but the most accurate looking ones I’ve seen would be these two. http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/6816/348649092o.jpg http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/2061/toystorytrurocky.jpg

Robot: I don’t think there’s ever been a real one, but McDonald’s made a toy of Robot when Toy Story 2 was in theaters. Again, looks great but way too small to be accurate. http://www.jeffpidgeon.com/uploaded_images/tsrobot-762970.JPG

The fire truck was actually from Little Tikes, not Fisher Price. I used to have one and it’s sort of a vintage toy now since they no longer make them the way they did back when they appeared in the original film, so it would be pretty hard to find today. http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9440/littletikes.png

Mutant toys: All I know of for them is this cool looking remote control Babyface toy from the Disney store. shopDisney | Official Site for Disney Merchandise

Wheezy: There was an actual squeak toy of Wheezy, but I have no idea where you could find it. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/206/504667148_fc1611726b_b.jpg

Barbie: Mattel made a Tour Guide Barbie for Toy Story 2, and we’ve found out that Ken in Toy Story 3 is based on a Ken doll from the 80’s called “Animal Lovin’ Ken”. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/3874/oncppm4ni4lsg5kf.jpg

And that’s about all I can think of. As you can see, some of the Toy Story characters were made during the first two films, so they might be impossible to get now unless you found them on ebay or something. Hope this helps.

I think Wheezy was a Japan exclusive. but I could be wrong.

About the Robot, me and that prop maker Ive mentioned are considering making a version of our own. If all goes as planned, I’ll model him in 3d to be best of my ability, he’ll have it printed using a 3d printer, and he’ll work his magic to make a real working version to scale.

Aw thats awsome I also heard that he wanted to do a slinky dog.

Hey guys. Have you seen the commercial for the TSC Potato Head yet? He looks cool, but the way he talks - ehh, his body is just too shaky for me.

(haven’t seen it on TV yet, of course)

Also, I really hope the TSC Jessie doesn’t follow the $35 version already out.
Amazon.com
Her body looks way too fat to fit the actually Jessie. Also, I hope on the TSC version, her hair is made of yarn. It’s not necessary, but would certainly be appreciated.

On the other hand, I CANNOT WAIT for the TSC Bullseye! (Woody better fit on him though :imp: )…

We’ve seen the potatohead ad.

And we’ve already seen the new Jesse, so we know she’s a bit thick in the waist as well. Her hair is real yarn though.

NachozRule you should read some of the earlier posts because you’re way behind.

yeah it was like page 30. but any way some one on here about potato head in uk in april.

Page 37 to be exact.

He wasn’t a Japan exclusive as I have the one in the pic above and I got him from the Disney Store when TS2 came out.

Lol, before I joined this post, I read pages 1-24 or so and then got bored so I skipped to like 48.

Sorry.

Thanks for the help, Flik-E. Hmm, might have to get a PayPal account so I can get some of those from Ebay.

I just got some nice frames for the certificates of authenticity. Now, I just need to tidy my room properly so that i actually have space to put all this stuff.

I’ve had a chance to test out RC, and he’s really fun. I don’t mind the extra-wheel turning thing, since it’s still as good as any radio controlled vehicle I had as a kid.

Now, if only some store down here would just have a sale across their toy department, so I could get Buzz (only Toys R Us have the aliens, so I’m probably just going to have to get them at full price). Well, I’ve seen a couple of such sales when I’ve been looking for TSC toys, but they’ve never had Buzz then.

Has anyone ever seen this buddy pack of Woody and Buzz Lightyear before, found them at a fleamarket for $1…Disney, Pixar, Thinkway or Mattel are nowhere to be seen on the box, maybe it’s somewhere on the figures but I don’t know I haven’t opened them and probably wont. The thing that gets me is the box says Toy Story 3 Clearly. I can’t find this same thing anywhere on the internet. Someone please shed some light on this.

there knock offs not official sorry!

HAHAHA!
Those are SO fake.

LMAO, I had a feeling. It’s all good though they were a dollar lol and i’m a Toy Story anything collector. I have to say they are nice figures for being knock offs. can tell that they are hand painted.

Yeah, that’s defiantly fake.

Anyway, remember when I talked about getting Buzz? Well today I was finally planning to go out and get Woody from the collection since I had the money for it, but when I went to the store I saw them at they were completely gone. There were plenty of them the last time I was there, but I got Buzz cause there was only one of him left and I figured I’d come back for Woody. Now (ironically) it seems like they’re only selling Buzz Lightyear. It sometimes annoys me when the stores where I live tend to change things around all the time and pulling things off the shelves too quickly.
