If they really want to attract people to Cars 2, they gotta release a really epic, serious trailer. Cars has a bad reputation for many moviegoers, and people might not go see the sequel because of that. Kids and fans are already sold, so they just have to get that audience.
I’m very tempted to use a Joker quote here…
I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement.
I really hope they have an emotional hook, like the one in the TS3 trailer right about the time Mrs Potato Head looks through her eye (“[spoil]There’s Andy! He’s looking for us![/spoil]”) and so on till the part Woody falls into the darkness. Yup, that bit.
Watching the first trailer made it look like a fun movie, but didn’t hint at the deeper feelings about the loss of culture and small-town Americana, which was a great shame. If there is any such emotional undercurrent in Cars 2, they’d better make it obvious in their trailer (without giving away too much, again, the TS3 trailer is a great reference).
Exactly, why would Pixar even make a sequel unless they knew it would be better than the first?
They wouldn’t.
Ok, something is really starting to bug me. No offense, but…
Its this whole “true fan” nonsense. I hate that phrase. What it pretty much says is that they are somehow not as good or don’t like the thing as much as you do because of something silly–In this case, its being worried about Cars 2.
I admit to being a cynical person. But seriously, just because you don’t think the story sounds all that spectacular or worry they’re going to put to much focus on Mater (hasn’t Larry the Cable Guy said that its more about him?) doesn’t mean that you should be scoffed as “not a true Cars fan” or be told to just stop saying your opinion. No, I’m not positive it will suck. Pixar has proven me wrong before. I was worried about Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, and even Finding Nemo (I distinctly remember the first thing I thought (at age seven) when I saw a magazine ad for it for the first time: “That looks dumb.”) so I’m prepared to be pleasantly surprised. But I still have my doubts, and the right to them.
I agree completely
You could have made that a lot shorter by saying, “Hey Jess, you know, even though I like Cars, I still have my right to be worried about the sequel.”
I was talking about the ones who who are the die hard fans. You’d think they would be a bit more positive about the movie coming out and not hoping it will suck just because Mater is going to be the main character and not Lightning. Not the people who like the movie and are fans of it. That post was made as a reference to a debate in the past with another member. So I’m not scoffing those who are worried. I was making a point saying that, wow, such negative thoughts from die hard fans. Not “Your a fan of the movie and your like, worried? Gosh what’s wrong with you?”
That’s what he said, yes. But they never officially said he was the new main character. I even said:
and
So I have addressed that, yes, it’s obvious he’s going to have a big part.
I’m going to write at the top of the post who I was directing that too. Last time I checked, I was telling them to have more faith not, wow, go away you fake Cars fan. I’m sorry if that sounded like I was putting fans down, I didn’t mean it that way at all.
Ughhh,I’m sorry Jessie but the thought of Mater being the main character makes me cringe…eye twiches
I’m sorry if I sounded like I was putting the fans down, I really wasn’t. I should have worded that a bit differently.
Also agreeing with Rac_Rules. We always have our concerns for Pixar’s movies, and it’s because we want to see them succeed. We’re allowed to have these worries and still be fans…
Thanks Rac_Rules for that, it is so true.
I admit, even I was worried about Toy Story 3 but that never stopped me from being a “true fan” Same goes fro Looney Tunes and the new Looney Tune show coming this November.
How Cars 2 turns out is way out of our control, we should just see how it happens, and if it’s a downer we still have the original Cars.
Seriously though, I am still a huge fan of Aladdin, even though it’s two sequels are totally lame.
I agree with everyone here. In fact, I think being more concerned about the upcoming film shows you’re a ‘better’ fan, just like how if you really care about someone, you would tell them their weaknesses instead of glossing it over.
It’s a case of ‘tough love’, and we all have the right to voice our concerns. Hopefully the Pixarians will take note and implement measures to assuage those fears.
I have absolutely no worries about this sequel. I honestly thought toy story 3 was gonna suck and pixar proved me wrong big time. So with that said, people need to just sit down and live the hakuna matata lifestyle till the film comes out.
I have no doubt that Cars 2 will be awesome.
I’m just going to go with the flow until I see it. And if others hate it, whatever. The only opinion that effects me is my own.
Exactly, EJE! I couldn’t agree with you more!
The way I see it, we should all practice a policy of “salutary neglect” in regards of the next Cars film. (Sorry, APUSH test tomorrow, so my brain is stuck in that chapter! ) Anyway, basically what I mean is that we should just like Pixar do what they do best. They’ve exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams eleven times, I don’t see how the twelfth is going to be any different.
I’m not too concerned. I mean, I’m a little concerned because the story doesnt sound as appealing to me as the last but I only have a few sentences to go on. But I trust that Pixar probably wont disappoint me.
