Tintin : Spielberg and Jackson to direct

I’m almost positive Hanks will be on board seeing as how it’s MoCap and of course Hanks likes MoCap. Remember the Polar Express - he was almost every character in that one.

I have to say I am really excited for this one! I adored the Tintin series, and now there making a CG movie!? Sign me up! :stuck_out_tongue:

As much as I am excited for these films, I have only 2 words to say about it…Uncanny Valley.

Guess will have to wait to find out more.

I’m not very familiar with TinTin- sounds familiar though. A lot of people were talking about it at the summer programs, but of course that’s 'cause a lot of them were really into comics.

I’m not so sure about this …

Interesting. The pairing of Jackson and Spielberg seems

promising, although I originally thought that only Spielberg would direct.

I do like the idea of Peter Jackson working on an animated movie, I don’t

really know what TinTin is, but it sounds promising.

Here are some informations on

Tintin :

The Adventures of Tintin is a belgian

series of comic books, creatd in 1929 by Hergé. 200 millions books have already been sold in the world, and each

year 2 new millions are sold.

Tintin, the main character, is a young reporter who travels all around the

world and always gets involved in dangerous cases. He has a dog, Snowy (Milou in the original version), who

follows him everywhere.

In 1932,

Thomson and Thompson (Dupont et

Dupond) were introduced. They are both stupid detectives. Despite their likeness, they aren’t related. The only

way to distinguish them is their

moustaches.

Captain Archibald Haddock

was created in 1941. When he first meets Tintin, he’s a sad alcoholic, but he quickly becomes respectable, and

Tintin’s best friend. When he’s angry (he generally is), he uses sophisticated insults. Besides that, he brings

a lot of humanity and humour to the series. And he’s my personnal

favourite.

Professor

Cuthbert Calculus (Tryphon Tournesol) first appeared in 1943. He is a great scientist, but he’s often

distracted and almost deaf (which usually creates funny misunderstandings).

There a lot of other nice

characters, but those are the main ones.

About the three films to come, some new rumors :
Peter Jackson

would direct the first one, based on The

Secret of the Unicorn / Red Rackham’s

Treasure.
Steven Spielberg would direct the second one, based on

The Seven Crystal Balls /

Prisoners of the Sun.
There’s no

name yet for the third movie, but it might be based on

Destination Moon and

Explorers on the

Moon.

Voilà
