The company that brought you Ratatooing, is back again this year with a rip-off of WALL•E. Yes, Video Brinquedo is proud to present Tiny Robots - the story of a city in the future that is inhabited by robots. So original.
Spectacular! Reminds me of years ago when Disney still made good animated movies. Every time they’d release a Pocahontas or Hunchback, the stores were full of knock off action figures and comic books. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.
LAWL. I don’t think this one did as good a job spoofing as past ones from the look of things though. I mean, yes, robots, older robot saves the day, but honestly, it could seriously stand as a different film with the plot they have. Should have added an EVE like character to really make it spoofy.
It’s hilarious how they tried to have a voice over guy like they had in the WALL•E trailer… And the Amazonian desert, ooooookay. But they do have a robot g-g-g-ghost! (How that would work, I don’t know). And Trank (nice name), the main character, comes across as so annoying and I’ve only seen one minute of him. No wonder they disabled the comments on their YouTube page. Come on Pixar, sue this company, now!
Netbug009 - I’m pretty sure the reason why they didn’t have an EVE knock-off is because the copycats start production of their movies as soon as they get an idea of what the next Pixar movie is going to be about, and EVE wasn’t shown in the trailer until a few months ago… They do have sort of a misfit robot gang like WALL•E does, though so who knows.
Oh my god ! Are they going to do that every year ? It’s getting more and more disgusting. I agree with you rachel, Pixar should start thinking of suing them.
Can’t wait for “The Flying House” next year and “Little Toys” in 2010.
Has Pixar ever sued anyone? It’s a legit question! My family was offered by a customer who was a lawyer to sue a rival company who stole our name, but my mom just refused to do it: “We’re not the sue-ing type.”
Tiny Robots is laughably bad; I don’t think anyone takes it seriously. Dreamworks’ major release Antz, on the other hand, blatantly stole Pixar’s idea and betrayed their agreement to release it after A Bug’s Life. They had two other wannabe-Pixar films like Shrek (Monsters Inc.) and Shark Tale (Finding Nemo). Dreamworks is more sue-worthy, but they probably can’t be touched. Besides, Pixar has enough reputation as it is to beat out both studios.
It’s not just Pixar they rip from. They also made “Plan Bee” and “The Little Panda Fighter”. It’s really pathetic. They even tried to mimic how WALL-E communicates in sounds with little grunts from their robot character. Definitely a turn-off. It really will be interesting how they rip off Up next year. I laugh at how they had to make up a word in order to compete with “Ratatouille”!
