Tom Hanks was a guest on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, and it was a great interview, especially when Tom Hanks starts to talk about how amazing Pixar is.
Jonathan: Now, who didn’t enjoy Tom Hanks in, well, he wasn’t on screen as such, but in the films Toy Story and Toy Story 2?
Tom Hanks: Yeah, that was me, yeah, yeah.
Jonathan: Two of the greatest feature films ever made.
Tom Hanks: And here in England you heard my voice.
Jonathan: Well, did you not…?
Tom Hanks: Not in Germany, you know, some other voice- we were doing press for that movie. Me and Tim, Tim, Tim Allen who plays Buzz Lightyear, and we found ourselves doing press- it had been a very long day, and ‘will you please just do three more, just three more interviews’, ‘all right, yeah’. They were for Germany, Austria, and Japan. And halfway through the German interview, Tim leapt up- ‘Wait a minute, our voices are dubbed in Germany! There’s no reason for us to be talking here!’ ‘Oh, god, I didn’t think of that’, so we got up and left.
Jonathan: Will you do a third one, because it’s one of those rare cases where there sequel is as good, if not better than the first.
Tom Hanks: I believe, they are preparing the third one right now. John Lasseter and all those people at Pixar are absolute geniuses, they invented an art form, and I’ll do anything they want me.
Jonathan: I’m excited they’re doing a third one- can you tell us anything about it yet?
Tom Hanks: Not a thing, they haven’t delivered the…I think, I kinda think they’re like mads scientists, and you go down and things bubble and electrify and they come out with some…
Jonathan: They know how to do it.
Tom Hanks: They always ask you to come in to do little cameos at the tail-end of other movies, like I’m also in Cars, and I think I’m also in A Bug’s Life.
They then go onto to talk about his age, and then about typewriters. Tom Hanks loooves typewriters…
