I was lucky enough to see the Melbourne premiere of ‘Tomorrow, When the War Began’, and it was very, very good. I’m a big fan of the books and this is not some crappy book-to-movie adaptation (Eragon, The Cat in the Hat, etc.), it caught the intensity, realism and the characters almost perfectly. It was not as good as the book, as Ellie humorously said in one scene, but it was a fantastic adaptation. When the film finished, I was fortunate to meet the cast, director & John Marsden, the author. John, Stuart Beattie, Caitlin Stasey (Ellie), Lincoln Lewis (Kevin), Deniz Akdeniz (Homer, my favourite character) and Chris Pang (Lee) all signed my copy of the book. I highly recommend all Australians to see it, and hopefully others if it gets a release date in your country, whether you’ve read the series or not. It comes out September 2nd.
