(I apoligise if there was a topic earlier about this. I do know there was a topic related to the double feature, but I want to focus on this film only)
I’ve seen Toy Story 2 in 3D today, quite a busy day at the cinema and I’ve one word to describe it.
Amazing!
I mean, I already saw the film and have it on DVD, but when I was watching it on the big screen again and in 3D, it felt a lot more deeper and exciting. Many scenes were a lot more stronger with the 3D (I managed to get through the ‘When she loved me’ sequence without shedding a single tear for some reason, though before the credits, I was fighting tears of joy and I won) and I noticed a lot more than watching it the previous times. In fact, it felt like I saw the movie for the first time.
The only single complaint I have was the replacement of the Disney Castle at the opening with the new Disney logo, though that’s understandable.
Yeah, it was awesome. But now you have me trying to remember if they switched out the Disney castle in part one, since that’s like part of the movie when it fades away…
Is it really though? what was wrong with the other one? it meshed better with the toy story universe. the new fancier one is too epic. the old one felt like a fun miniature, a toy version of the castle. its especially bad in the first one, removing the fade into the wall means we’re starring at a plain wall for no apparent reason. they should have left it alone. I’ll feal they will make this same change for the blu rays.
Perhaps they couldn’t do the older castle in 3D because some elements could be classed as ‘already out of screen’ and could mess a bit with people’s eyes.
Yeah, the old castle really helps with the opening of Toy Story, it gives it that old-time feel. It would be cool if they put it in Toy Story 3, just because it would be cool for Toy Story to end it’s run.
