I read something about the movie not being commercially successful with only $8 Million on it’s first 10 days. Shrek 4 on the other hand, made $37 Million. I also learned that Pixar was never that successful at Russia at all. Why? Just Curious.
I read that article too! I dont’ know, each country has different prefrences!
Maybe the Ruskies just have a dark and cynical sense of humour?
Here in Australia, TS3 is making a killing, movie theaters are filled up for both 3D and 2D, good reviews are coming up lik 5 ot 4 and a half start raitings.
But it depends, I guess this is one of the questions in that will not have a answer.
Note to self: never visit Russia. : p
I guess that’s why there’s no members on these forums from Russia
“In Soviet Russia…”
hmmm, kind of sucks thats its doing bad… maybe russia didnt play Toy Story 1 and Toy story 2 in most theaters…?
Toy Story watches YOU!
I guess they don’t have a lot of toys in Russia. That, or they’re too busy playing Tetris.
I know it’s only opinions but i’m struggling to see how they’d prefer to see Shrek 4 as apposed to Toy Story 3 they certainly have unique opinionsss
In Soviet Russia… Toy Story 3 isn’t a success
Just for the record, I have a Russian friend who loves Pixar (in fact I saw Cars with him). So let’s not make too many generalisations.
Or, in Soviet Russia, Toy Story flops You!
Hahahaha Kyle. Very true.
This article says something along those lines:
“They say, is that Russians are unfamiliar with the story and characters because the first two “Toy Story” movies were released in the 1990s, before the country’s recent explosion in theater growth.”
Shouldn’t they have gotten the double-feature then? The only excuse for this is bad taste.
True, everyone can have their own opinions. I just can’t get over the fact that they prefer a forced movie about ogres, and a not-so-interesting movie about prehistoric creatures…
I agree. Damning people for being russian, is the same mentality as racism. We’re all human beings here. We dont live in russia, just see whats posted in the internet, so lets ease up.
Yeah, somebody should lock this thread up. This is sounding around the lines of racism.
Unlike race, there are clear differences in culture at play here. doesnt seem racist or… geographist (not a word I know) to point out differences in taste.
if they did get the double feature then there really is no excuse as far as Im concerned. the time between that and TS3 would be more like a traditional sequel timing.
sure they don’t have the advantage of having 11 years pass (if only seeing it recently) to add to the sense of nostalgia but the films stand on their own enough without requiring it.
Yeah, I agree. I think that we’re just discussing culture differences. which would be Pixar isn’t quite as popular as it is here, and finding some reasons for why this is. (like the fact that the Toy Story movies were released in the 1990s before the country’s recent growth in theater). That’s not saying that One race is better than the other, it’s just pointing out cultural differences.
