Looks like Toy Story 3 will be returning “to over 1500 theaters” for Labor Day weekend (which starts September 6th). On a somewhat related note, Avatar is also returning to theaters on August 27th with “10 minutes of extra content”. This has to make me wonder if TS3 will be doing the same thing… the only thing I could imagine them adding is the rumored bloopers a couple months back.
I personally think this is a great way to squeeze more money out of the film until the DVD and Blu-ray comes out (maybe get bumped up to #4 or 5 on the Highest-Grossing Films of All Time list?). I’m not sure if I’ll see it again, while I certainly want to, my parents might think it’s weird seeing the same film 3 times… the only way I can see myself going is with one of my friends who missed it. As for Avatar, I’ll definitely be seeing that, as I missed it the first time 'round.
Same, I’m outside all weekend at the shore. But if it’s rainy tomorrow you never know… I’ve already seen it 3 times but whatever. I absolutely loved it!
If Im somehow able to see it for free I might go again, but I think Im fine waiting til the blu ray. only 2 more months. I think its great that its returning though, hopefully it’ll break more records.
Of course it isn’t being re-released here, as it’s still on its original run, but something of note is that Tesco (the British equivalent of Wal-Mart) are doing two for one Toy Story 3 tickets if you spend a certain amount of money in store, and with Tesco being so prolific all around the country, I can imagine that’s also helping with getting bums on seats and racking up a bit more money for the film, as it has been out for a little while now.
This re-release sounds like a very good idea, and hopefully it will push Toy Story 3 up another spot on the highest grossing films of all-time list, especially if there is added content of some sort.
I’d love to see it again, but I’m not sure if I can. It’ll be nice to see the movie in surround theater quality audio and rich, high quality before watching it on DVD on my crappy dinosaur TV. Sorry for that dinosaur quip, Rex.
Its actually not completely done here in the states either. its not playing in a lot of theaters anymore as its near the end, but its still going. I just thought I’d point that out.
