Toy Story 3 Screenplay Available

The Disney Studios Awards site has gotten its full renovation for this year. The Toy Story 3 section has a few new goodies, including the complete screenplay. The photos section also has a few new pieces of concept art and production photos.

Oh, gosh… Thanks for the link, Bryko. I started skimming, then at some point started reading, and good grief, I was in tears by the end just reading the screenplay! Darn it, I wish there was even some remote chance that this could finally bag that long-deserved Screenplay Oscar for Pixar!

By the way, the Creative Screenwriting Magazine Podcast just released an interview with Michael Arndt on Toy Story 3.

Bookmarked on site, and I really appreciate the link!

EDIT AFTER READING: Well, I can honestly say after reading that whole thing, this movie deserves an Oscar or two.

I guess it’s true that they added the credits epilogue after the screenings at ShoWest, as they’re not included in the script here.

A few lines were taken out of the final film, and the line where Rex said, “What’s a transom” would’ve sat well with me, as I honestly haven’t heard the term “transom” before seeing the movie.

Thanks for the link Bryko! I must say, I’ve very impressed by the site.

Chopperface: I’m pretty sure they don’t add any credits scenes to a screenplay in any case.

Another clear difference; after introducing the toys to Bonnie, in the screenplay he just said “and that’s it”. I’m certainly glad they changed it.

just reading the excerpt of the screenplay, i nearly teared up. GIVE THIS MOVIE ITS BEST PICTURE OSCAR ALREADY.

Yeah I totally agree! I was pretty shocked when I read that. Thank god they changed it.

Thanks for the link, Bryko!! You’re awesome.

Thanks for the link! I definitely picked up on things I didn’t notice when actually watching the film. It’s interesting to see what the crew was working with and aiming for during production.

Up broke the Best Picture barrier last year. Considering how many more tears per minute TS3 generated, it’s definitely got a shot at winning. If not, a perusal of this script should be enough to convince any cantankerous committee member

Ellie-jessie-eve, is that a Liberty’s Kids siggy, by any chance? If so, methinks you win some Internets.

How Has Guilt: Hey, nice to meet you! And yes it is, it’s a screencap of Marquis de Lafayette, George Washington, and Alexander Hamilton. Glad you like!

Nice to meet you too! I love me some US history. I’m in Euro history this year, and it just isn’t the same. Maybe because there isn’t a show like that about angry kings and popes

lols true Now Has Guilt. I love European history as well, especially British and French history. But American history is still my favorite. Especially the Colonial and Revolutionary Period.

Ugh, you should read my history book about Euro history. It’s put me to sleep 3 times!
Anyway, I just finished reading the screenplay, that was awesome!

Nice link, it’s the perfect write-up since it gives enough insight, but leaves out some of the things you’ll only notice with the movie (Pizza Planet truck and Sid, although it’ll be obvious after you’ve seen the movie).

It also gives Andy’s age in the beginning, which is 8. This means it takes place very shortly after Toy Story 2 (not even a year after).

By looking at the categories section, why isn’t Disney pushing Toy Story 3 for a Best Score nomination?!?

I was also wondering this. Although not amazing, Toy Story 3 had a pretty good score, and if the first film could get nominated, then TS3 certainly could, although there are some strong competitors this year such as The Social Network, HTTYD, and Inception.

I don’t think it would win, but it would be a strong competitor for a nomination, so I don’t know what the studio’s thinking.

Because it is the weakest Pixar score, that’s why. At least in my opinion.

And the competition is really strong, this year, too.
E.g. Inception, How to train your dragon, and even - most unexpectedly - Despicable me all had a great score.
