Toy story was the film that started all the computer animation era, was the film that anticipated the mega-succes of a series of films produced by a company called Pixar.
Up was the 10th pixar film, and the movie that finished an era of original films and stories. Now it’s the turn again to the characters of Toy Story to start a new and second era.
Toy Story 3 - the 11th pixar film, it’s the anticipation of that new era that’s coming, where the next 10 films that will produce this company are continuations of those beloved stories and the making of franchises…BUT with the risk that those stories won’t have the feeling of it’s previous. there will be questions like: Why a sequel for Cars? Why a sequel for Monstes, Inc.? It will be magnificent as the originals?.
Toy Story 3 proved to be rich in it’s story as the previous two, and starting a new age succeed…What’s coming in the future? Will Pixar be succesful as always? or just improvising sequels and stories for the “commercial” thing? I HOPE NOT.
Toy Story 3 proved once and for all Pixar will never do a sequel unless they’ve perfected it as much as they can. So Pixar will of course not slip up. I have the utmost faith in them more than ever.
A glorious new age has begun with Toy Story 3 indeed, though it was precipated by Wall-E and Up.
pixar said that they wont make a movie if it dosent have a good story, which is great to hear…and the 4 pixar films (Ratatouille, Wall·e, Up, Toy Story 3) have been really great for my tastes (love the story & charaters, and the animation has impressed me [and avatar didnt ]) if pixar continues makeing film like this, they’re going to be in business for many years to come.
I think the idea of Toy Story 3 almost being like a fresh start, a new age for Pixar is very interesting, especially considering it’s a sequel so it’s almost a counterintuitive train of thought. I do think that Pixar will continue to be successful, despite certain upcoming sequels, but it’s all speculation at the moment really. Pixar have proven themselves time and time again, but there’s no way of predicting what the future will hold.
I’m going to move this into the general Pixar area as though Toy Story 3 is partly the subject matter of the thread, it’s also about Pixar as a whole so it’d probably be better there if that’s okay, james&pixar.
I think the second age for Pixar should be better or equal to the first age. I don’t really know how anything can beat Up, but it’s Pixar, I’m not going to be in shock if they come out with something even better then my favorite.
I Can’t wait for this new era of films. TS3 is an excellent start, but you gotta wonder what ideas is pixar going to come up with for this new era?(not counting the sequels).
They’ve tackled the ideas of toys, animals (Nemo, bugs life, Ratatouille), Monsters, Vechicles, Superheroes, robots, and growing old. I’m anxious to see what they’ve got in store for us now.
I would argue that we are infact in our third era of Pixar films. I believe the second began with either Cars or Ratatouille, depending on how you make the argument.
I am sure that which ever era Pixar will be in, ever, their films will still be wonderful.
I guess I never really thought that there was a definite 1st era/2nd era. I just took it as a progession/evolution of films. Do I think they’re making sequels because they wanna be commercial? Not really. I’m sure if they can think of a successful story sequel to an original, it may be logical to make a franchise out of it, but I dont think they’re only in it for the money.
