Toy Story 3 • Too sad for comfort?

I’m not sure if anyone wants to know the outline of what will happen in Toy Story 3 so I will cover it up with Spoiler tags.

Toy Story 2 Ending
[spoil]at the end of Toy Story 2 Buzz and Woody make peace with the fact that Andy will grow up one day.[/spoil]

Toy Story 3 opening
[spoil]Andy grows up and is leaving for college[/spoil].

Toy Story 3 according to IMDB
[spoil]Woody, Buzz, and the rest of their toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, departs for college. Meanwhile, Hamm, Rex and Mr. Potato Head begin a quest to find their long lost twin brothers.[/spoil]

I don’t know about you guys & gals, but it seems like Toy Story 3 will probably be even sadder than Toy Story 2. I’m not afraid to admit that I may have gotten a little choked up during TS2. I can’t see how TS3 won’t be sad.

I think that Pixar will try to make a happy ending. Anyway, no matter what, I’m quite sure it’s gonna be the most heart-warming and emotional Toy Story film of the trilogy.

I think Toy Story 3 could win best Picture…I’m calling it now! ha.

What does it mean by the [spoil]long lost twin brothers[/spoil] bit? I don’t completely get that.

And yes, I can see Toy Story 3 being very heart-wrenching and emotional. I guess a part of me is still slightly unsure of the story, because I can’t see how it can end on an entirely positive note, but we’ll have to wait and see.

What I could never figure out is: In TS2 we find out that Woody was a family heirloom. Even if Andy didn’t know his value, wouldn’t his mother say something when he goes to dump him at a daycare centre? I just thought of something else: Woody was a toy from the 1950’s. TS3 will probably take place around now. Woody would likely be very fragile, and not the kind of toy a daycare would take.

I haven’t seen anything from the film and I will probably have all my worries blown out of the water. But for now I am very skeptical. Did TS1 and TS2 need a sequel? Or is just like: lets make another Toy Story because it will make money and people know it and like it so there for it will make more money.

With Michael Arndt, (screenwriter of the hilarious Little Miss Sunshine), It could easily be very cynical, like they just say they love you and then they throw you away.

I still say I thought Andy was different and would have at least kept Woody and Buzz because of his attachment to them (Plus maybe he would have learned of Jesse, Woody and Bullseye’s real value). Would he have taken them to college? No, but i’m sure he could have left them at home (but then I guess that’s not much of a story, is it?). I’m still afraid this could get a little depressing or maudlin. And i’m with you, lizardgirl I dont get the [spoil]twin brothers[/spoil] thing either…

Disney Kept Pixar at the negotiation table back just before its acquisition,as Pixar went to look for another producer to release its movies.

Disney Claimed that although the Story was owned by Pixar the Characters were Property of Walt Disney Studios, and as such Pixar weren’t needed if Disney chose to make a Sequel to get the cash. (Same thing happened with Tim Burton over Jack and Sally from NIghtmare Before Christmas)

Disney kept Pixar “at the table” using this threatening to make their Sequel in which Buzz toys would be found with a fault and recalled for destruction. Producing this in my opinion with Disney’s ability on CGI not all that good… would have shattered the frachise established by Lasseter, Ranft and Stanton.

Does it need a sequel? I say yes
Will I cry if it doesn’t work out? Lets just say the cinema won’t be left standing!

If TS was going to have a third installment, I’m glad they chose a more believable route for the story. While I haven’t even seen a teaser yet, I have a feeling that [spoil]having Andy leave behind his toys[/spoil] will make the film a lot more dimensional. I’m looking forward to it. =)

Who the heck are the twin brothers? The thing i’m looking foward to in TS3 is more Jesse and Barbie! they were the stars of TS2![spoil][/spoil]

Toy Story 3 will definitely be sad and those of us who have grown up watching Toy Story 1+2 will get emotional over it and maybe shed a tear or two. I know I will cry a bit. I love Toy Story, that’s my movie. <3 <3 <3

I don’t get the [spoil]twin brother[/spoil] thing either. When I read that I was like “Lol what? :astonished:”… I’m taking a shot in the dark at saying that

1.) It’s an inside joke

2.) It’s just something Pixar added in there to throw us off.

3.)[spoil]Maybe it’s something like Rex and Hamm bump into Rex and Hamm toys at the day care center…to then somehow lose them so they go out to search for em.[/spoil]

Guess we won’t know till a trailer comes out (then we can spend a good hour making guesses on what will happen, while we explode with happiness XD), or till something gets leaked out, “magically” from the staff.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Toy Story 3 wins some awards. Every Pixar movie has won an award or has gotten nominated, so TS3 will definitely get something. I just hope this movie is worth drooling over. XD

Dang, seems like a pretty legit plot though. I think they could have thrown in more of Andy’s childhood in TS3 though. But im sure it will be funny, as well as sad just like the other toy story flicks.

Im excited for this one.

lol, it looks like nobody really gets the [spoil]twin brothers[/spoil] thing! Maybe, as you say, it will make more sense once we see a trailer or find out more about it.

Does anybody know if the trailer comes out before UP? or before the Princess and the Frog kinda like what they did with Bolt? I hope not, if I don’t get a TS3 trailer by May I’m gonna DIE!

Haven`t read the spoilers, but I only will undertsnd this second sequel if they’ve got a great great great story. Otherwise I’ll just go to my room and cry.

I also heard that Buzz malfunctions, so they send him to Japan for fixing, but lots of Buzzes are being recalled for malfunctions, so they all try to save Buzz from being destroyed, or something

I think (though anyone please correct me if I’m wrong) that that was the previous rumoured storyline that Pixar decided not to follow through with, Dan*E. I’m not sure which I prefer out of that one and the one that’s official, though the official one was something that the toys had to deal with and think about in the previous two films so it might be more coherent.

Guys, sorry to say, but IMDB is worse that Wikipedia. I’d never let that place be my first source for anything.

Heck, Wikipedia is usually pretty good with Pixar rumors unless somebody annoying edits it. It was one of first to have stuff about WALL-E. Of course, I thought it was crazy… “What? A love story? …Nah…”

Anyways, yeah… I would’t trust that server farther than I could throw it.

I would take anything you read in Wikipedia or IMDB. They are both notoriously inaccurate and present rumors as confirmed fact.

This is doubly true with Toy Story 3, where it may be difficult or impossible to separate details of the older Disney script for their TS3 from the newer Pixar one.

I think what they mean for the [spoil]twin brothers[/spoil] is that they are like [spoil]other toys just like them[/spoil]… you know like when [spoil]Buzz meets the other Buzz in Toy Story 2[/spoil]. I probably didn’t need a spoiler on that but…anyway.

This may be sad, but you know Pixar, it may be fun and exciting. When they make a final trailer, lets say in April 2010, its goona play action packed music and it gonna show Woody running from something, I just know it.
