A Prequel would not work for these reasons what are they going to do with Buzz and what about Jessie and Bullseye and all of Bonnie’s toys which I am sure are so popular now they will not cut them out of the 4th movie if they made one…
I think they could do a prequel for a Toy Story short. There can be one when Woody remembers when Andy was really young like Bonnie.
What would happen to Buzz?
I really, really don’t want this to happen. I don’t think it will, but I’m against it. I want original movies, not sequels, and I don’t want Pixar to turn into a sequel machine. I mean, this all feels like fake-ish internet gossip to me, but still I don’t even like the thought of it. Please, Pixar, don’t do it!
A prequel would be something unexpected for me. When I read talk about a prequel on here that was something I didn’t think about and maybe a better idea.
So…yeah. Instead of milking the franchise with more sequels, they just just carry the series on with the shorts. It’s a much better way of advancing the characters without making more feature-length stories.
Wouldn’t be in it, obviously. Unless it was more of a midquel.
While it would be really interesting to learn the backstory of Andy’s dad and whatnot, I don’t think that necessarily warrants a whole film. Or even a short. If we were just told what happened during an interview or something, that would be sufficient. A film about it would just be TS3 all over again, with Woody watching him grow up and move on.
Personally, I like to think that when Bonnie gets older, she returns the toys to Andy, who now has little children of his own. But do we really need to actually see it on screen? Or see the story of Andy’s dad? No. There are some things that are best left to the imagination. Or fanfiction.
I’d happily welcome a fourth.
After seeing the interview he seemed quite confident in how he said it, all speculation though, only time will tell.
If it’s not a prequel, than make it a midquel that takes place between either 1 and 2 or 3 and Hawaiian Vacation.
Toy Story movie with out Buzz? Never!
I really hope this doesn’t happen simply because if it does, regardless of how awesome the story may be, it will completely diminish how perfect the ending to 3 was, and I don’t want that at all. TS3 was the only movie that really tugged at my heartstrings and makes me nostalgic and sad all at the same time during that last scene when Andy is giving his toys away, and if they continued the franchise it would really lessen the impact of those last few minutes, which would be such a huge disservice to not only the characters and the story, but also to us as fans and long time lovers of the toys. I’m beginning to wonder as well if the reasoning behind all of these sequels is coming from Disney and the shareholders trying to make Pixar crank out more films to make more money, even though they may be interested in only doing films when they have a story. Time will tell I suppose.
^ this. seriously, you worded it perfectly.
anyway, i do. not. want. this. at all. i don’t care if it’s a sequel or a prequel or anything else, i just…DO NOT WANT. as of rn i’m still hoping, like i said, that this is just tom hanks kidding around. and i really do think it is.
i’m not the biggest fan of TS3 (i don’t hate it, but i love the first two /far/ more), but i agree that the ending was absolutely ~perfect~ and i don’t want anything to mess it up.
then again, if it’s true, i’m sure the whole “highest-grossing animated film of all time” thing has something to do with it.
I love your sig!
But I’d really rather there NOT be a toy story 4

I guess that would be the starter of all this. But really, I don’t want another. I like some things to be left for me to decide. I really, sincerely do not want this to happen. I don’t want a sequel machine. This has to stop.
please…no , somebady tell me this is a late april fools joke.
I dont want them to ruin the perfect ending the third one had
Whats happening with pixar, are they doing only sequels now?

I feel that way about the whole movie industry.
At least we have Brave and those rumored original projects by Docter & Unkrich to look forward to.

I really don’t know. For some reason, people think movies that are from a popular series are the only ones that’ll sell, either it be remakes or sequels. Cars deserved a sequel. At this point, it was the only movie critics were iffy about… but maybe the sequel route wasn’t the best idea. Toy Story 3 was necessary, we’ll leave it at that.
Newt being cancelled in favor of the Monster Inc. sequel is worrisome, though.
A 4th Toy Story isn’t just a bad idea because it’d be a cheap sequel, but also because every aspect of the third one was perfect. Including the part where it ended the story.
