Yeah I dont know how I feel about it. When my mom told me she heard it on the news I thought maybe she misheard something. I dont think there needs to be a Toy Story 4 at all. TS3 seemed so…final. I’m not sure what they could do that wouldnt repeat what’s already been done. And I for sure wouldnt be that interested without Buzz in it. That’s like Star Trek with no Spock in it.
I’m thinking it could be possibly be various play sequences, like the beginning of all three movies, such as a Jurassic Park, space adventures, western scenario, etc.
Is this a possibility? I mean it wouldnt do much for the original storyline of the Toy Story movies but I for one loved all the jam packed adventure opening sequences of all Toy Story movies and I feel it would be a better option than Bonnie growing up or something…
But that would be a movie with no plot.
That could work as short Toy Story Toons. But as a movie, it simply doesn’t work.
I don’t think their age Bonnie, she needs to stay 4 to stay at Sunnyside. Unless she gets a baby brother or sister, she can’t age.
In any case, Sunnyside doesn’t need to be a part of the plot again. So she can age at least a little.
But what am I saying? I don’t want this movie to happen either way.
Ugggh, those are the worst kind!
Maybe it isn’t a full length movie but a 30 min christmas tv special(a la dreamworks) or something like that. I really loved TS3 but i dont think there is any reason to make a 4th movie as 3 had the perfect conclusion.
Yeah, I think a half-hour Christmas Special would be better, kind of like what they were going to with Tin Toy.
Love Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3.
No need to ruin it with a forth.
One silver lining to a TS4 should it happen: They would most likely continue the Toy Story Collection line, probably with a 4th and 5th wave. If by then we don’t get a true slinky dog and the Prospector heads will roll. haha Maybe they can redo some previous ones that were a bit disappointing.
Yeah, but that silver lining will be barely (if at all) visible compared to the cumulonimbus cloud of a disaster that “Toy Story 4” would be should Pixar ever have a lapse of sanity and decide to produce and release it.
The Mayans simply ran out of room on their calender.
In much the same way, Toy Story 4 isn’t going to happen.
Quote from Lee Unkrich:
The link where it came from: http://www.nola.com/movies/index.ssf/2010/06/the_pixar_way_with_toy_story_3.html
I’m glad to hear that from Lee.
Still, you have to take into account the fact that that article was published over a year ago. The overwhelming positive reception towards TS3 could have influenced Disney to request they make number 4 so they can get teh moneyz, or (the extremely, extremely less like version) made Lee change his mind.
Also,
Plans could have changed when they realised how popular the franchise actually is.
They’ve known it’s been popular years before the third movie came out.
The franchise has always been popular, you’re right, but I was also about to point that Lee said that months ago.
And he didn’t say it was over for good, but used the words “for now”. I the time that has passed, the movie probably began its development.
I would give a lot to hear that declaration again now, but Pixar’s silence is making me feel uneasy. Specially with that secret project for 2013. If it was an original, what would be the harm in revealing the title? I’m begging to suspect it can be another feared sequel.
to be honest… i dont mind abt toy story 4… coz firstly, im a super toy story fan… then, i know if pixar decides to make a sequel, it must be very very good or else they wont make it… pixar cares abt their quality more than we do…
Lee’s interview is enough to assure me Toy Story 4 isn’t happening. But if it is my heart will just sink. Really, if they make ts4 it’ll pretty much be ts3 all over again.
That interview was made back in the Toy Story 3 era.
Seriously, guys, it doesn’t guarantee anything.
Their always going to say that there are no plans “for now” until it is officially announced. I wouldn’t be surprised if you found an interview as recent as a couple weeks ago, just before the Tom Hanks blurb with him saying this. Its the same answer Lee and his crew have been saying from day one. It doesn’t really mean one thing or another, just that they didn’t have a TS4 in mind during the production or release of TS3. Thats it. Things can change and they’ve never said never. They also havnt confirmed it.
Usually movie studios dont’ go out of their way to debunk rumors. But the fact that it is a rumour started by Hanks is concerning.
