Here’s my new list (I changed it a little from the other thread)
Wall-E
Finding Nemo
Monster’s Inc.
The Incredibles
Toy Story 2
Toy Story
Ratatouille
Cars
A Bug’s Life
1.) WALL-E
2.) Finding Nemo
3.) A Bug’s Life
4.) Cars
5.) Toy Story
6.) Monsters INC
7.) Toy Story 2
8.) Ratatouille
9.) The Incredibles
BTW, despite the order, I at the least greatly enjoy all of these, so if there’s ever need for a extra commentator on one, I’m totally open to it.
Of course, I LOVE LOVE LOVE WALL-E more than any movie in the history of anything. <3
Ok, here’s how everyone ranked Toy Story:
3: lizardgirl
4: Lightning Eclipse, Pixar.rocks
5: JesusFreak (1), Netbug009 (2), rachelcakes1985 (3), The Star Swordsman (4), WBoon (5)
6: M-O
7: qxgnxamy
8: thedriveintheatre
lizardgirl, Lightning Eclipse and Pixar.rocks are in. To choose two more commentators from those who ranked Toy Story at number 5, I assigned numbers to the five candidates and rolled a six sided die. The results were 4, 2. So The Star Swordsman and Netbug009 are in. To choose two substitutes I rolled the die again and the results were 5, 3. So WBoon is the first substitute and rachelcakes1985 is the second substitute.
If you were selected as a commentator or as a substitute, and you haven’t given me your schedule for the next week or two, please give me that information.
Anyone who has not yet ranked Toy Story will not be allowed to participate in this Toy Story commentary. However, if you are new, please feel free to rank the remaining eight films.
Let me know what you think of this selection system. If we can come up with a better system, we can reselect using that system.
Edit: JesusFreak, M-O, Netbug009, and WBoon - We will probably schedule another practice for you guys, so let me know when you’re available.
Alright! I’m avalable weekdays between about 5-9pm pacific time, except Wendsdays, all day Saturday, or about 2pm-9pm Sunday.
What programs are we gonna need to record? How is this gonna work? Are we like, gonna make a mp3 file and people can play it in line with their copy of the movie?
Netbug - Thanks for posting your schedule. =) The program we’ll be using to communicate with each other is Skype. You can download it here if you use a PC or here if you use a Mac. I’ll be using some other software to do the actual recording. You’ll need a headset, or a microphone + headphones, or two pairs of headphones. Yes, we’ll make an mp3 file that people can play in line with their DVD. I’m also going to send a sample of the Toy Story commentary synced up with the video to licensing@pixar.com to see if they’ll let us release it.
I’m cool with that ranking. =D (As long as I get to be a part of the WALL*E commentary, I’m cool with anything) Eeee, this is gonna be so exciting! I’ll start looking up trivia and info on Toy Story tomorrow. Considering it’s Pixar’s first film, I have a feeling I’ll be reading through a LOT. xP
Netbug009- Dude, it’s gonna be awesome being able to speak to you in real time. =D LIVEJOURNAL MEMBERS, UNITE!! dorky superhero pose
Oh, and I think Peter pretty much answered your questions. I think there’s a list somewhere back in one of the other commentary threads that lists everything you’ll need…let me see if I can find it.
EDIT: Wait, Peter already listed everything, nevermind. xD feels like an idiot
OH! HI LIGHTNING! feels really stupid for just now recognising her fellow WERPmember
Ah, Skype! Cool, I already run that. I’ve got a mike too, and I could pull out some headphones, but would speakers work?
Wait, we’re sending this to Pixar? Do we need their permission to make a geek track as long as we require people to have their own copies of the video?
Speakers probably won’t work, because the microphone would pick up the speakers and cause feedback.
We don’t need Pixar’s permission to make a basic mp3 fan commentary track, but I’d also like to release a copy with the original video (small sized, for synchronization purposes only) and the original audio mixed in. I think we’d need permission to do that.
Ah. Yeah, It’s worth a shot asking, but I think we’ll end up with audio only. That or they’d ask a ton of money for the rights.
Got it. I’ll dig up some headphones then.

- WALL-E
I have some bad news, some good news, and then some more bad news.
Bad news: I’ve been told that my store will have a big setback in our hours, so I’ll be working less for a couple months. The good news is that I’ll have more free time! The other bad news is that I don’t have my schedule for November 1st and beyond, at least until tomorrow. I have flexible hours, so they always give me weird times to work. But I can tell you that I have next Thursday off, and I never work on Sundays.
Really disappointed I won’t be able to be in the Toy Story commentary, especially as it is the first commentary. Curse you, you stupid dice! Well, maybe I will… we’ll see. At least I know I’ll get to be in Ratatouille and WALL•E.
qxgnxamy - I was a bit hesitant about posting up my schedule in public so I’ve PM’ed it to you instead.
Rachel: If you want my spot, you can have it. If you really want to participate in the Toy Story commentary that much. I think you are a little more excited to do the Toy Story commentary than I am. So I am willing to give you my spot if you wish.
Netbug009- Hiiii! waves Oh, and don’t worry about it, my name looks different on LJ. And it’s misspelled. xD But yeah, once again, it’s gonna be cool to talk to you.
Peter- Oh, I just realized, I didn’t rank all the films. Sorry. ^^;
- WALL*E
- Ratatoullie
- Finding Nemo
- Toy Story
- Toy Story 2
- Monsters, Inc.
- The Incredibles
- Cars
- A Bug’s Life
Honestly, I truly love all of these films, and it kind of sucks to have to rank one above the other, but I’m just thinking in terms of what I’ll have the most to say on. Some are hard, though, like with Cars, because being a resident Arizonite would probably allow me to comment on on things like the backrounds and stuff, but in terms of the actual film, I wouldn’t have much to say…I dunno.
JesusFreak- Wow, that sounds confusing! xD I’m sure you’ll be able to figure something out, though.
So, I’m assuming we’ll be doing one more practice commentary, then? If so, what short film are we going to comment on? I would like to join in if we do one…not because I really feel the need to, as I’m much more comfortable with commentaries now, but I just like doing them. xD And you can never practice too much, in my opinion.
EDIT: Rachel- Agh, I know, I was dissapointed when I read that. >< You’re so much fun to do commentaries with…not that the group we have is bad, of course! Far from it. But…you know. ^^; I’m rambling.
No, it’s ok, TSS. It wouldn’t be right for me to do that… if I am meant to participate, it will work itself out. I appreciate the offer, though. =)
LE - Yeah, I’d have no reason to attend another practice commentary either, but I really like doing them too, so it’d be like “Oh, hai it’s jus me again.” Heheh.
I think the dice thing is a pretty good system, qxgnxamy. It’s all down to chance, which is probably the fairest way to do this sort of thing.
You’ve pretty much got my schedule, but if there are any particular days you’d like to know about, I’m happy to tell you when I’m available.
Rachel- I was disappointed that you won’t be partaking in this one, too. But yeah, you can always do another practice commentary, since they are so much fun.
Sorry guys, I don’t know my schedule yet, i will have to tell you the day that we’re doing it…
And if i can’t i’ll be happy to leave my place to Rachel !
Rachel- It sucks that you can’t participate, I was really looking forward to doing it with you, so fun, as always… But we’ll see you in the next one !
lizardgirl - Earlier you said that this was your schedule:
Week 1
Monday- 7:00am to 4:00pm
Tuesday- 7:00am to 4:00pm
Wednesday- 7:00am to 2:00pm
Thursday- 7:00am to 5:00pm
Friday- 11:00am to 3:30pm
Week 2
Monday- 7:00am to 4:00pm
Tuesday- 7:00am to 4:00pm
Wednesday- 7:00am to 1:00pm

Friday- 1:00pm to 3:00pm
So is Monday November 3 the start of week 1 or week 2?
That will be week 1, Peter.
Netbug - Can you tell me which state or province you live in? Or better yet, can you tell me which city you live closest to? I need this information to find out if your location observes Daylight Saving Time and when the time change takes place.
Edit: Actually, I’m pretty sure that if you’re anywhere in the Pacific time zone, then DST ends on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2:00 AM local daylight time, but I’m not 100% sure.
