TOY STORY OF TERROR!

Obviously this is probably old news but might as well add anyway:

Toy Story of Terror gets released on August 19th which is pretty soon. In addition, Mattel released a 3-pack with Jessie, Buzz, and Combat Carl. The set also comes with a DVD that contains a scene from TSoT and Small Fry. The Carl’s size is negligible for a screen-accurate collection but can substitute for Combat Carl Jr.

Cool set! The Carl looks awesome, but yeah fingers crossed we get a full-sized Combat Carl down the road…

i want combat carl as a real full scale figure, 12 WHOLE INCHES! with this beging joes 50th anniversary and all… i wanted a soon to be combat carl joe!

Hasbro easily could made Combat Carl and Combat Carl Jr. in one set and they would have made so much money. But, they are the masters of missed opportunities.

I don’t get it either. Before Buzz and Woody were household names, they took a chance to release the full sized toys with Thinkway, which couldn’t have worked out better. The Toy Story 2 toy line was plentiful with just about every character except Stinky Pete, Zurg, and Bullseye. Toy Story 3 was off to an incredibly strong start with the Toy Story Collection, but failed to carry on the momentum afterwards with Wave 2 (delays, cancelled products, etc.). Wave 3 had terrible promotion and retail access. From there, the Toy Story line kind of stagnated. I guess the frustration from a lack of products stems from the fact that the subjects are… well, toys! They were designed to be practical figures.

Stitch Kingdom has the Combat Carl PSA and a bonus feature clip!

I screencapped the section for ease of access. Like I said before, the size gap between Combat Carl and Transitron is incredible!

I absolutely adore that PSA… gotta love that so-very-80’s-animation feel! I’m already careful to keep myself from spreading germs when I’m sick, but I think I’ll be even more conscious of the fact thanks to Combat Carl 8D

Just found a deleted scene for Toy Story of Terror:

Personally, I’m happy this scene was changed since it feels like Jessie’s control over the situation was handed (pun intended) to Potato Head.

Let’s give the writer a hand for coming up with this scene. 8D

The vintage commercials for Old Timer and Transitron are hilarious! I noticed in the Old Timer commercial, the boy had a Combat Carl poster in his room. It has the same look of Combat Carl pointing in his PSA with an explosion in the background and the logo titled, “Combat Carl: Finds A Way”. I wonder who made the prototype toys for the two commercials?

I just got the Blu-ray copy not too long ago.

Gotta love Pixar for sneaking in references in their renders.

In theory, does this mean that the Combat Carl in TS1 is older since he seems to resemble the G.I. Joes from the 60’s.

I actually saw the for the first time last night. it was on TV. I thought it was a really well done Toy Story short… I love how the focus was mainly on Jessie. And Prickle Pants narrating out what happens as if they were in an actual movie… hilarious

Yes, definetely the best TS spin off so far.

Not necessarily; if we strictly follow real life guidelines, Slinky Dog would be as old as Woody. Though since the original Combat Carl was from the 90s, I still think he’s older than the new Combat Carl.

I saw Toy Story of Terror last night for the first time and all I can say is I love it
It was just beautiful to watch, the story was done well and the new toys were likeable; it was also great to see Jessie having a day in limelight, instead of Woody and/or Buzz

I saw it when it first was on TV, and I felt the same way. I thought that it was as good as TS3, except about only a 3rd of what Toy Story 3 was. Only a month to go till Toy Story That Time Forgot comes out!

I found some concept art for Transitron:

^Cool find! I watched TSoT the other day and realized I’d forgotten how awesome Transitron was

I love how a lot of the toys in TSOT are like older toys from the 80’s, like Combat Carl and Transitron. Old Timer also seems like one of Fisher Price toys and Pocketeer seems like he’s from a superhero line of toys aimed at toddlers with a silly superpower.
