thank you so much!!!

That person sucks at taking photos, you cant see the top of the baby’s head in either one of those pics.

Ok, Barrel of Monkeys time.

This will be my last vintage/classic toy I need to add to my collection, having already got an original Barbie, Ken, Chatter Telephone, Musical Jolly Chimp and Little Tikes Toddle Tot Fire Truck.

So, experts. Which Barrel of Monkeys do I need to get for a screen accurate addition to my collection…? The version produced by Lakeside (circa 1965), or the newer Milton Bradley version (circa 1989). Is there a discernable difference between the two either in reality or on-screen? Does it matter which version I get?

Here is a comparison image I whipped up showing the two version by the respective manufacturers:

They look exactly the same to me (aside from the label). Same mould?

I am of course aware it should be a yellow barrel with red monkeys, but after that I have no knowledge of the correct manufacturer to go for.

If anyone can shed some light on this for me I’d be most grateful.

Pretty sure the milton bradley is the one to go for. I dont remember seeing any label like that in toy story. And being an 80s toy it would align more with most of the other real world toys.

The label could’ve easily been removed, like how it’s absent on the Rock-A-Stack. But since most of Andy’s toys are from 1989, I’m going to have to say Milton Bradley (but I’ll still check some screen grabs).

That’s a stretch, Andy’s too careful to let something happen to the label.

I meant that they just didn’t include the label. There’s definately no indication that the sticker got ripped off the Rock-A-Stack.

Looks like the Milton Bradley version.

Yes, sorry… I wasn’t quite clear. Both the Lakeside and MB come with different labels, only in that comparison I posted the MB’s label has been removed. In the film we do not see the label at all so I am discounting it altogether.

Dinoco: How can you tell from that screencap its an MB? As I noted earlier, both versions look exactly the same to me.

Perhaps I’m way over-anylysing this and it doesn’t really matter which I get. Having said that, MB seems the most popular choice in terms of making sense in the film world so that looks like my best bet.

Thanks

There’s indentations in the middle. Then again, we wouldn’t know if the Lakeside one had an underlabel, but at least it matches. I rarely see these with labels, too. I’m pretty sure those were just put on there for store display.

Hey all, I’m trying to fill a couple of holes in my collection and I had a couple questions I’d like clearing up if you don’t mind -

I was looking at the Medicom Rocky, and noticed he wasn’t much bigger than the current action figures of him, what scale is he? If he’s not that close to scale, I can’t see myself paying the outrageous prices he commands nowadays.

Also, how is the original 95’ Bo Peep scale wise? Is she pretty close to scale, I can’t tell from the pictures in this thread.

Finally, any tips on where to get a yellow Barrel of Monkeys online? I’ve tried twice now and both times I got sent a different color (the new ones I see in stores) even though the picture I saw online was yellow.

Medicom Rocky is about half-scale. Bo Peep is a bit short, as I recall, but you’ll need to ask someone who owns her for specifics.

No See N’ Say :exclamation:

I just recently ordered a Chunk and I just ordered a yellow barrel of monkeys.

On the Disney Store UK you can now order Twitch, Chunk or Sparks and get another figure free! Check it out.

wampar, have you started anything

Nope. Haven’t had any time. Hoping to get things started and finished in mid January I have been looking at toys that would represent some of the key Sunnyside toys, and I think that my Sunnyside toys are going to be like my Sid’s toys in that they are going to be far from screen accurate, but when grouped together will hopefully have the righ feel…but again, it is going to be a while.

Wait a minute, you have the Medicom Rocky? If so, what are his articulation points?

I think he was implying that he was looking at it online. I do have the medicom Rocky. His only points of articulation are: shoulders, hips, and neck. His elbows and knees are sculpted to look like joints, but are solid and unbending.

I finally got around to shortening my Mr Potato Head’s legs and I really like how it looks, I also separated my Mrs Potato Head’s legs.

I’ll post pics soon, my camera currently not working :frowning:

Hello here im new in this forum  And Im french, so really sorry if my english is getting creepy for the next few posts

So here it is, I think my Collection is not far from the Wampar collection(masterpieces)…
I mean the ones missing are : troikas (about to make em), stretch, jolly chimp, zurg, bookworm, big baby, mr spell, mrs potato head, wheezy, the robot and snake (andy’s toys)…
Wampar, I was just wondering, do you sell some of your stuff, you should totally create a business, you coul win a lot of money by selling the toys you have made… and I would be the first one to buy haha

Anyway, here some random pictures :
