So I went to TRU today and the good news they restocked on all TSC items except rex and bullseye was sold out…The bad thing is the boxes on the toys were horrible one Buzz was even out of his box they bombarded those toys when they came in I guess…Also noticed the aliens they got in had alot of paint errors and the eyes were all stained horribly with brown spots so basically check your TRU guys they might have restocked to bad mines only had stuff I already own…
I visited Jade’s Gifts yesterday (thanks Slink!) and got a couple of the snakes we’ve been talking about. I asked the owner if she had any more green ones, and she exasperatedly said, “No! No More!” Guess you really wiped them out, Slink. I got some orange ones instead which should be an easy repaint.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I think these might be a bit too big to be in scale. I’ve gone back to the movie several times now to double check this. Snake is supposed to have ten links between his head and his tail, and be about 14" long. I just measured my work in progress, which is only nine links long and missing his head, and he’s already over 22" inches. He’s definitely closer to scale than what I have now, but I don’t think he’s perfect. The one Wampar has seems to be the closest to actual film scale I’ve seen.
I could be wrong about this, though. It’s really hard to get a clear look at Snake in the film, as he rarely has his entire body in one shot.
Hey, yeah, Jade’s Gifts only had 2, and one more place across the street had 1 or 2. So you might have checked there, its possible they had more in back. Sorry to clean out the supply, lol. I doubt its perfectly in scale, but it’s pretty close. I doubt you’ll ever get a real life in scale snake, it’s not based on a real toy. Wampar’s is pretty close to perfect, but its sculpted. If you’re good at sculpting, thats your best option, but I for one am not, and love my snake. Plus you can rearrange the head easily and make in the links click vertically, which simply isnt made in real life
I live in Texas, but I want to go to this Jades Gifts place just to ask the lady myself if they are getting more… and if I had that disposable income, then I’d want enough to send everyone here to do the same.
Howdy gang, been out of town on vacation, and actually still am now. I just wanted to comment that while I don’t have it here to measure I can guarantee that my snake is a LOT longer than 14". I would guess from memory that he is at least 20" if not longer. I am hoping to track down one of the snakes Slink has because I am pretty sure it will be much closer in scale than mine. I will most likely sculpt a new head from scratch, and drill some holes in the links to run and wire through so we will stand up on his own. But I am not quite sure where you get the 14" rule to start with. The small snakes you can find in any party store are roughly 14" inches and are WAY too skinny to be anywhere near scale.
In other news: I am relaxing at my parents’ house in Texas this week, and today I had a little spare time for arts and crafts so I made my final four toys. I bought the Miss Bunny (from Bambi) beanie at the disney store the other day, sewed the neck and legs so it would sit up, then took a seam ripper and a paint brush to the eyelashes to make it gender neutral. I know this is far from screen accurate, but I wanted a blond bunny to represent the one that Lotso’s gang catches trying to escape…and this is the final Sunnyside toy I really feel needs representation.
And finally, the final three toys I am making…the grand finale if you will. They are 99% done. Tomorrow I am going to tie some thick yarn around their limbs so they can be tacked to a wall, but here are my versions of the three plush that Lotso is tied up with at the end of TS3. The scale is off, but I am so happy with them, that I don’t really care. After I get back to Florida I will tack them up on my bulletin board, and hang Lotso up with them for a pic as well.
All three were roughed up with spray paint and had sculpey bugs glued to them. The cat also got a new set of eyes to better match the movie, and the furry puppet is made from scratch. Couldn’t find purple fur, so I made it from white and spray painted it lavendar.
Minus the yarn tying, I am SO excited to finally be done with the entire project after a year and a half. Done. Done. Done.
Edit: How appropriate. I see that the posting of my final toys is also my 300th post on the board. That’s a nice round number to finish a collection on.
Well, congratulations, Wampar. I never seen someone with so much dedication. Oh, and I agree, when you’re done, post a picture of your entire collection. But that’s only if you can.
Well, of course I’ll still be around. I have to see how some other developing collections come along. Not to mention I have to see if Emma ends up becoming even more obsessed than I have been and makes every single toy that appears at Sunnyside. And of course I am still waiting to find what is in TSC wave three, if there actually is a wave 3.
Now that the actual construction is done, it is time to start doing the spring cleaning around the house that I put off in favor of working on the collection. The ultimate goal of that process is to remove the Simpsons and Muppets toys, paint that room, install shelving specifically for the TS toys, and have them all together in one place. That project should hopefully be done in a month or two, and when that is done I will post pictures of everything together. Since the Sunnyside and Sid’s toys don’t fit where the main stuff is right now, it will be the first time that the entire collection will be in one place.
Sooo…I’m at my girlfriend’s house and they are doing some spring cleaning. My girlfriend’s mom (who knows I collect TS toys) comes up to me and says “I got something for you”
She hands me the “Toy Story 2 on Ice” Plastic squeeky wheezy! I couldn’t believe it! I’ve seen ONE on eBay in the last year and it went for $103…it has a little white paint on the butt, I haven’t been able to remove yet, but it’s still awesome!
I thought I would have to sculpt my own Wheezy, as this is only one ever made I found acceptable and wasn’t going to spend $100…(I had a DS plush stand in for the time being)…
Kinda motivates me to check more garage sales, never know what little gems will turn up!
I only asked because I didn’t think that the one wampar had could squeak, so I was thinking that this might be some sort of super-rare thing I haven’t heard about.
Hehehe Yeah i’m obsessed like you Wampar, and i’m actually not that far from your sunnyside collection
It’s getting more and more important, need to find out how to make properly the blue robot for now…
But yea i’m making the dinosaur on wheels, yours look a bit undersized, because he looks way taller than the green dog XD so i’ll try to make it bigger, hope it will turn out well xD !
Hope you liked my plushies Wampar, I really like knowing your point of view xD !
I’ve finished the animal blocks too, should take pictures soon, don’t have the camera for now, i’ve forgotten it in england, but i’ll have it on saturday :') !
Between Wampar how tall are the fast food toys and the vegetables toys and the car on wheels ?
Thanks :')
Ps : Yeah i got that wheezy too, he’s quiete cool :')
Thats about as cool as the one I found for 25 cents (its not the Disney on Ice one, but a squeaky Wheezy is a Squeaky Wheezy). and yea, checking Garage Sales/ Antique Malls/ Thrift Stores/ Flea Markets can REALLY pay off. I got my Bullseye, Monkey, Big Baby, Lenny, Troll, and Barbie house (as well as many accessories) at various places, and I haven’t had to spend a dime on eBay yet, either.
