Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

Twitch would be a great companion to Rocky… if he was in scale.

Your collection is beautiful wampar!

Don’t worry I live in Ireland. I ain’t goin’ anywhere soon.

Awesome Wampar. Not only do you have the best collection, I think you must be the fastest at getting them too. Any chance of posting a pic of the ts selection behind Twitch,Sparks and Chunk?. The buddy collection stuff.

Going momentarily off topic, by request:
My Toy Story Buddies…I have all of them we have seen, except Bookworm, who I haven’t seen on ebay, so I don’t think he is out yet.
I made my own Troikas, Potatoheads, Toddle Tots, Pixar Ball, Mr. Mike (who is horrible and being redone when I make Dolly for the TS3 shelf), and Troll in bikini, who despite looking nothing like a troll or the troll in toy story I still think it cute, so she is staying just like she is.

It was making these Troikas that made me first realize I could very easily make my own set, which is a project I will probably start later this week. I already have the nesting eggs, just need to start the painting (see…making my own Troika replicas…I brought it back on topic.)

Hey Wampar,

Could you please tell me if Sparks’ body elevates any higher like in the trailer?

Thanks

Sparks’ arms extend and his body swivels, but he does not raise up at all.

Thanks for posting the pics Wampar. Your very talented at making models and painting them. The post was on topic anyway. Replica simply means a copy that is not the original.

Strange, but I can’t find any reference to an “Orlando, Alaska” on google. Maybe they just haven’t updated their database?

Very nice collection. I am still working on my display, but I really hope to have some photos up soon.

wampar I admire your collection!

Not I’m complaining (really, Im not, I wasn’t even going to mention it), but it was off topic. Those buddy packs were not made to replicate the on screen versions, they were just made for fun, as a different take on the characters. a “replica” isn’t just something that resembles something else, it attempts to be exactly the same in every way.

Anyway, I’d love to get a sparks toy, but I don’t think I would want it unless it actually sparked and had metallic parts. I suppose you could paint the silver parts, but it still wouldn’t look as good as a factory done chrome or metal pieces. how dangerous are those sparking toys anyway? I had a few of them even growing up in the 90s. what has changed that they are suddenly too dangerous? have people set a house on fire with them or something?

Wampar, your collection is AMAZING!!!

It is AWESOME to see those new 3!!! That Twitch is easily my favorite, damn they’re VERY well done, and just kickass. I want them the most, I am just floored.

And your ENTIRE collection is AMAZING! The modifications all look SPOT ON.

I’m reposting this pic because its (insert f word)-ing awesome.

(if this bothers you wampar, I will delete it) but by going to this link physically, you can see the toys in an even bigger picture which is very impressive:

Or, you can just click and drag any of his pics to the address bar to see the full res.

I read this on Transformers Wiki:

"Sparking mechanisms are notorious for wearing out after prolonged play, and for littering a toy’s surface with burned-in crunchy bits, giving the spark-exit area a black-peppered appearance.

Though this gimmick is cool and fun, it isn’t one that Hasbro considers any more for use in toys, after a similar gimmick in Barbie dolls drew national attention for setting children’s underwear on fire. "

I guess the potential damage to the toy isn’t worth making it screen accurate. I’m more concerned about him not being able to elevate as this is one of the features described in his movie bio and we see it in the trailer when he shakes Buzz’s hand. Also it’s annoying how his eyes don’t light up like in the trailer. I know they were trying to keep costs down but I would prefer to pay more to have this feature mostly because in every single shot of Sparks we can see the red led lights flashing away - seems like something that should have been included.

Well they ARE toys that spark. Even today they have “fire safe” cigarettes, for those incapable of keeping track of their lit cigarette.

But, you can get a sparking wheel and some flint and make Sparks REALLY spark, haha.

That missing elevating feature bugs me too, but not as much as the missing sparking feature. I mean, his Name is Sparks. he’s supposed to spark. lol
without it he’s just…um, flash? or blinky?

and yeah, the lack of lights on his visor are another downside.

I bet he’ll have a TSC version but if he doesnt, everything but the elevated height are fixes that can be done in hand, not necessary, but can be done.

Sparks seems like a good candidate for the Toy Story Collection makeover but unfortunately an inside source from the Sideshow Collectors forum said he had it on good authority that those were the only Chunk, Twitch and Sparks that would be released from Thinkway. Makes me a bit sad because I was also hoping we’d get a Twitch with the battle staff.

I think much of the problem is that when Pixar wrote the bios they gave the toys heaps of cool features which is great for the movie but because toy making companies are trying to keep costs down it doesn’t make sense for them to include every single feature. In most cases the less features the toy has onscreen the more accurate a toy we’ll be able to purchase (like Chunk for example).

So far, any picture of Twitch I’ve seen dont have his battle staff, could be wrong though.

But regarding “insider sources” unless its direct from the company, its usually just someones over-expressed theory.

There is this picture here:

disney.go.com/toystory/#/charact … de-friends

I know it’s not from the movie but it is an official picture of him and almost all descriptions of Twitch refer to his ‘signature’ magical battle staff in some way. Even If the staff doesn’t make an appearance in the movie I would still be disappointed in Thinkway’s Twitch as its quite clear he was supposed to be packaged with this accessory when originally bought (in the movie-verse). If it were like Ken’s chimpanzee which is not referred to in any of the bios or promo material then I could let it pass but this is obviously not the case. On top of that, how hard could it be for them to make? If the 6" Twitch could do it I don’t see why Thinkway can’t. I can understand when things are too expensive but the staff doesn’t have an intricate design or elaborate features. Don’t get me wrong I love Thinkway but I’m a completist so personally it irks me when parts and features are missing.

The ‘insider source’ used to work at Thinkway and had a bit of background info on Toy Story Collection Hamm, Mr. Potato Head and Woody. He also told us some of the processes that the company go through when making decisions. I hope he is wrong as I would love a TSC Sparks but he pretty much convinced me that we probably won’t be seeing one.
