Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

Woody just arrived today! I’ll post pictures and write a review on him by the end of the day.

Brilliant. Look forward to that. My TSC Pricklepants arrived today so I’m pleased with him. I also got my aliens (eventually) so they’re on the way. So with them, and Stinky Pete, it has been a decent week for the collection.

Finally got the Trixie I was after. She’s not full movie scale but is near 10 inches long so she’s the closest I could get. Pleased with her.

agree to some extent that these epoch versions are not movie accurate but more based on the roundup show dolls.
as for pete’s clothing, you could say the same for both woody and jessie but we all know in real life they will be cloth so why not pete too. I would say though his hat would be hard plastic like woody’s.
I wanted a epoch version for ages nearly bought one until the seller let me down but now I’m glad I didn’t pay all that money for something so inaccurate. I’m currently having a custom one made so watch this space.

The most obvious problem, and one that no custom-made version can overcome, is the lack of a pull string on its back and accompanying voice chip. That’s the worst omission of the Young Epoch version. And for their going price (or even their initial price on release), that’s outrageous.

The fellow from China who is making custom Prospectors (there are also some that come from Italy), are average at best, but certainly more affordable. Blind Squirrel is, in my opinion, the best custom-kit maker of some Toy Story characters out there–particularly the robot: outstanding kit (expensive too, but very accurate). Unfortunately, Prospector isn’t available from him.

Do you have any more information on the Chinese custom Stinky Petes? Are they one-off customs?

I now have 2 of the 10 inch long Trixie figures so I’m selling one if anyone is interested.

Heh, I got lucky again on eBay by purchasing the Young Epoch Tokyo Disney Resort Woody doll for only $190.

As you can see, he’s the most accurate, color wise, in the set and I will review him once he arrives. Obviously, I will compare him with the Vintage Version. I’m definitely looking forward to see the figure.

Edit: Holy crap! Disney Consumer Products actually responded to my email I sent them.

While this doesn’t confirm anything, at least it is a start from the DCP team. Only time will tell…

where on EARTH did you get trixie?

eBay. There’s one on every other day. I paid around £25 for her.

My suggestions for your Toy Story Collection:

When you get them, they will be all yours. And your collection should then be complete with them.

But then you’d still need Chuckles, Buttercup, Trixie and Dolly for the main characters from Bonnie’s toys. Then Twitch, Stretch and Chunk from Lotso’s gang.

I managed to get the big 12 inch Chunk and Twitch and the largest Sparks for just under £50 for all 3 on eBay. They look great.

Also got the Chuckles that’s made from all the separate “Build Chuckles” pieces for £6, which I was extremely pleased with.

That photo is from a while ago…I’ve expanded quite a bit since then, with more characters coming…

Great collection. I really want the Troikas but can’t afford them just now. I’m in the UK so adding postage bumps up the price too much :frowning:

Has anyone tried buying Toy Story figures off of the Japanese auction site, “buyee”? They seem to have a wide selection but I’m worried about international purchases.

With all my work I have to finish, I’m definitely going to delay my Woody doll review. Sorry guys. :frowning:

On an unrelated note, I’m curious to hear whether or not DCP has taken my email into consideration after forwarding it to product management.

Welp, I was looking through the pages and came across some good stuff. Only problem is, I don’t use yen and I’ve heard some bad things about the site. Among some of the stuff I saw, I found some of the Medicom figures (Andy, Sid, and Janie with the Pterodactyl head). However there is one auction that I found that has a Medicom Rocky loose. here’s the link: buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/n142065391

EDIT: On the very next page, I found a sealed one. buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/f151548431

EDIT (again): Here’s something AMAZING that I would LOVE to get, but like I mentioned, I don’t use yen. buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/f143210362

I’m just throwing this out there:

I can’t tell what shipping is for either item. And if you hear the website isn’t legit, thats also an issue

BUT:

I don’t use “yen” is pretty silly. Its a currency right now thats very weak against the american dollar. 1 yen = 0.008 US Dollars. That means that giant lot is about $16 and the sealed rocky is about $90. For a figure that sells for $300+ its definitely worth a second look into the credentials of the site, regardless of currency.

Yeah I’ve been trying to figure out if that site is trustworthy or not but even translating the page doesn’t help. I don’t have the first clue what to do.

I did Google it though and there are some stories about international shipping charges racking up because the items get posted to so many points in Japan (which you pay an individual fee for) before they even leave the country, that it made the purchase way more expensive than they initially thought.

I’ve been put off, despite those crazy cheap prices, purely because I can’t make head nor tail of how it all works.

I guess I wasn’t too clear with that. I live in the US and I understand that you can get yen if you go to the bank or something, but I’m not sure how much shipping is for the items. I also don’t trust the site, considering that a lot of people say that there are some bad things about the site. Also, I don’t really have the money for stuff right now as I don’t have a job (I’m 15) and my parents are on a tight budget.

Has anyone attempted to replicate a different expression for Woody or Buzz, and if so how or with what type of material?
