Jim Hill has been talking about this production for months, but Disney finaly announced it. It’s Toy Story: The Musical coming to the “Wonder” Disney Cruise Line ship. Here’s a video and article on it (found via The Pixar Blog):

Muscials work for some things, but Toy Story is so not one of them.
Maybe I should see it before I make a claim like that, huh? xD
The Walt Disney Company seriously is getting desperate. xD
Hopefully, I’ll be able to see this sometime.
When I first saw this I was like WHAT?? And I still am. I mean, wasnt there a reason the movie wasnt turned into a musical? I thought it was because the story really didnt allow for the characters to just break into song. I dont know. Although John got involved with it so how terrible could it be? I’d say it’s at least worth seeing then
I can see them doing a musical. The characters in Toy Story had a lot of different emotions going on and what better way to express them (in true Disney fasion) than song?
Robert- See, Toy Story was a movie in which the director decided not to conform to the “true Disney” way, and look what we got! So making Toy Story: The Musical is contorversial, but it’s been so many years that I bet it’s just as fun as any other Disney show, and it’s alright with me.
EDIT: Welcome to Pixar Planet, Robert!
I can’t see Toy Story being a musical … Monsters Inc, I can see … oh wait, that’s because they made the company play. Annoying little thing. ![]()
I think it can work. I never thought of it as a musical. It could work, but I just don’t see it right now.
Perhaps we need to get the whole gang together for a Disney cruise so we can see this thing.
That way we can all rightfully judge it
But then that’d give Disney all the money instead of Pixar. ![]()
A113- That’s a good thing, because Pixar is wholly owned by Disney, so whatever Disney gets partly funds Pixar (Please correct me if I’m wrong.) So if I’m right there’s nothing to worry about. ![]()
lennonluvr9- Sounds good! Ha Ha!
martini833: LOL! I hope you’re right about that, because then Pixar would be rich from all the money Disney cheats out of everyone! I thought all the money Pixar got went to Disney, but I think (and really, really, really hope) you’re right, and if that’s the case…
Time for a cruise! xD
I’m not too sure about a Toy Story musical, but I do think Pixar should try to tackle a musical. You don’t want to know the Pixar musical my brain has already created though. It is not right. ![]()
Quite honestly, I think it could work! “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” is already really catchy!
“I Will Go Sailing No More”, “Strange Things”, “Woody’s Roundup”, and “When She Loved Me” from TS1 & TS2 are nearly musical-ready, so for a “musical” it’s a great one to go for.
Just get Randy Newman to go compose a few more songs and it’s nearly done, just throw in a stage version of the storyline and you’re set!
Although, IMO, they should redesign the full-body costumes or consider to go human, as the current Woody/Jessie full-body costumes they use in WDW and other parks are just dog awful. I’ll post a pic if you want me to convey the point…
Come on! There are a couple songs in Toy Story, but certanly not nearly enough to have a musical! Then they would have to hire another composer, and it would turn into a whole mish-mosh of poor songs loosly held together.
I wish they would put Finding Nemo on Broadway before anything else.
Finding Nemo is actually a small type Broadway show in the Animal Kingdom. but, back on topic about TS: the musical, you guys have to see it before you bash, the songs fit perfectly and it actually felt like it could have been a Broadway show on it’s own, not adapted from a film.
