True Or False (The Real Version)

True, one that I have.

I have heterochromia.

It is.

False?

Buttermilk does not contain any butter

True.

Hitchcock won two Best Director Oscars.

Yes, I don’t.

As a side note, I think we should make this thread factual/trivia-based. The other True Or False thread is for personal info, and I think asking a personal question in the first-person, like “My name is TDIT”, is quite similar to asking the replier in the second-person (“You like bananas”).

So I’d advise keeping this factual-based and more a test of people’s general knowledge. Whaddya guys think?

Um… false? I think he didn’t win any Oscars? Can’t say I watched much Hitchcock other than Psycho as part of an English class in high-school.

Do I have to answer the question correctly (ie If I dunno, I have to research?). Or am I allowed to take a wild guess and hope the previous poster replies if I’m wrong?

Quentin Tarantino directed the Planet Terror segment of the double-bill Grindhouse.

False, that was the Rodríguez segment. Tarantino made Death Proof.

Casino Royale was the first Bond book adapted for the screen.

Agreed, I thought the same when I posted a personal question a while ago.

And you’re right: surprisingly, Hitchcock never won any Oscars as a director, even though he was undeniably one of the bests.

This is easy, seeing I’m a Bond fan! False. It was Dr. No. Casino Royale had two film adaptations, with very different plots!

Holy cow, I’m surprised I got the Hitchcock question right! I remember reading that fact in a review of the film Hitchcock (starring Anthony Hopkins) in the paper I work for, but my memory was hazy.

I’m glad you agree with me. We’ll go with general-knowledge-based questions then.

In Les Miserables, the factory-worker-turned-prostitute Fantine has a child, whose name is Cosette.

True, Cosette is her nickname and her real name is Euphrasie.

Dr. John Watson is the narrator in every Sherlock Holmes book.

No, you’re actually wrong! Casino Royale was the first novel, and the first one who got adapted for the screen. Dr. No was the first Eon film, but Casino Royale already counted with a TV version, made eight years before.

False.

Led Zeppelin had a lot of Acoustic songs.

False?

James Camerons Avatar is the highest grossing film ever

Very true, to my regret 8D

Dracula was killed by Dr. Van Helsing.

You’re right. Watson is the narrator in all stories but four, two narrated by Holmes himself and two with a rare third person narrator.

True

Frankenstiens Monster was an accident

False, as he was made on purpose, but true in the sense that the consequences of his creation weren’t planed.

Victor Frankenstein’s sister was named Elizabeth.

No, it’s false. Dracula was actually killed by Quincy Morris, who strangely is the less popular character from the novel.

And I agree keeping it factual.
You cannot research, so if you do not know the answer just take a wild guess.

True.

Titanic is Fiction.

The films? The main character’s plots are fictional, but they’re set in an historical background.

There’s mention of werewolves cubs in the Harry Potter universe.

Yes, her name was Elizabeth, though she wasn’t her biological sister. She was adopted since childhood and they lived together.

Sorry to be so late on this one!

Actually PixarTeo, Toy Story did not have “Tin Toy” as part of its theatrical releases. They were first released together on the Golden Edition VHS in 2000. After that, though, all Pixar films have a theatrical short film.

True.

The Pizza Planet Truck has appeared in every Pixar film so far.

False. They’ve confirmed it’s not in The Incredibles… but people keep looking for it.

Art from Monsters University has been to jail.

Yes. Tom Riddle says that Hagrid had hidden werewolves cubs under his bed, though of course he’s just slandering him. So, there’s mention of them in the universe, but they don’t really exist.

Is it this one? Waitaminute…

gasp Egads! You tricked me! Ooh…

Acutally I meant to write it as a false statement, but instead of writing it as Colette (the wrong name), I wrote Cosette (the correct name). Looks like I’m no better than Borat- I mean, Monsieur Thénardier. 8D

Uh… you mean as in prison inmates have actually looked at the concept art for Monsters University? Um… true, I guess? I’m on a self-imposed media blackout for this film (I haven’t even seen the trailer!) so I know next to nothing about it other than the official synopsis and movie posters.

This should be easy for J.B. fans:

The title of the Bond movie Skyfall is [spoil]the codename of the agent’s failed mission in Istanbul.[/spoil]

False. It’s the name of [spoil]a lodge from the Bond family.[/spoil]

The Yeti exist in the Harry Potter universe.

It’s true, but not as you mean it. “Art” is a character from the film.

Is Art a character in Monsters Inc? It’s been a long while since I’ve watched the film!

Uh… true? I think there was a name of a bar which had “Yeti” in it? So, like, the fact that there is a tavern in the magical world named after the mythical creature means that it exists? I dunno. I duno. True, I say!

In the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the bearers of the Elements of Harmony are Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Applejack.

False? I don’t know anything about that program.

The Tower Bridge in London receives its name because of its shape.

Nope. I said Monsters University.

No, there’s no bar with that name. But it’s true that they exist in the Potter universe, as stated by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the Lockhart book Year with the Yeti.
