Truth To The Blair Witch Project

“In October of 1994, three student film makers disappeared in the woods near Burkittesville, Maryland. One year later, their footage was found.”

As many of you knows it, that was the tagline of the movie, “The Blair Witch Project.” I visited the official site not too long ago, somewhere around this year, and I clicked on some of the footage and audio clips it has to offer. It was not of extremely terrifying elements, if not a little spooky, but it led me to ponder on the one question many had for many years and many more years to come; was there any truth to what the video suggested? In this case, witchcraft?

as a logical person, I am not really intend in believing such a… tall tale of witchery. Nevertheless, I feel that I have to pay my… respects, to the belief and to the possibly existence. Many have always said, “It’s better to believe and respect than to suffer an ill fate.” Regardless, I, of course, still have my doubts, and up till now, I am still wondering about the mysterious disappearance of Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael Williams.

It’s a gripping, terrifying tale they tell.

Why weren’t their bodies found? What exactly happened to them? Were they really involved in a tragic, murderous event of witchery? Or was it just murderous, the psychotic doing of a sick, twisted killer? If so, how did he, or she, do it? It’s these questions that haunt many’s minds back then, and till now, I think they still do.

What about you? What’s your view on this mysterious event?

I’m tempted to suggest that this thread be merged with the Movie Discussion thread, since it’s about a movie after all. But then again, it’s about the conspiracy behind the movie, so I dunno.

I’ve seen the movie (well, part of it) and I found it to be utterly boring. The idea behind it was just to get a lot of people hyped up before the movie came out, much like what Cloverfield did with its ad campaign.

In concerns to witchcraft, I don’t think it actually exists in terms of magic, but there obviously have been cases of ‘witchcraft’ and people doing this sort of thing, so in that case, it does exist. All in all, The Blair Witch Project just seemed like one of those cases where the final movie wasn’t as good as it was made out to be.

Horror movies often make these things up. Making it seem true makes it scarier.

Still, according to my religion witchcraft exists. People sell their souls to the devil and practice magic. Though I think that people in the recent centuries aren’t so connected to the devil to practice witchcraft, like how people don’t practice the giant miracles anymore. Disclaimer: I am not one of those people who consider stuff like Harry Potter “the devil”. I love fantasy stories. I realize they are, you know, fiction.

I haven’t full watched the Blair Witch Project despite owning it. So I can’t give a proper reply…BUT…will in terms of Witchcraft.
Witchcraft isn’t directly evil. A misconception for people and religion. Some people are are born with the ability to use Witchcraft solely from talent. Others invoke demons, spirits, or fairyfolk for the powers. Though Witchcraft in essence is the latter.
Like humans, as a mass, are ignorant…and the early days of Witchcraft were harsh and unmerciful. Even a point of the finger and declaring “witch!” would lead even those without the ability to some judgement.
Witchcraft can be used for evil, neutral, or good purposes. Depends on the human, not Witchcraft itself.

oh really…what is whichcraft…have you ever seen true magic…when has magic been used for something good?

I’m unsure if your being skeptical or you truely want to know. For sake of explaining a little, I’ll think the later.

What exactly could define true magic. Not the illusionary type of the stage, but actual magic. Magic is very vast, ranging from the simple invoking to necromancy and outright control. The rules, yes there are rules, of magic can also vary. Does it take your life force to perform? Can it only be done once in awhile? Are there specific timeframes?
Humanity as a whole cannot define magic with how “free” it is. And in such times, man probably has lost the ability to conjure the wonders of magic. But it still exists in small quantities…lingering to survive.

When has it been used for good? Well I’ll use a good example.
Indian Tribes sometimes have the position of “the Rainman” or something similiar. A shaman that has the ability to call rain through a dance. Now this can be conisdered a type of witchcraft, despite the sterotype of “witch” being female. The Rainman invokes to spirits in the neutral way I mentioned above, but also for the good of his tribe. He dances to appease and call forth, or “invoke”, a spirit to make it rain. This does no harm, yet helps the tribe. Be it for draught or crop disruption, the Rainman aims to use this type of “magic” to seek aid. And, seemingly, all the spirit asks for is a dance to accomodate them.

So you are saying witchcraft is bad if it is used negatively? I like that explanation.

Yeah, when I first started this thread, I didn’t realize that the actors and actress in the movie were actually very alive and even being interviewed after the film’s release. Heh… kinda silly, really.

Nevertheless, that is not to say that no conspiracy were placed. If this supposed legend exists, who knows if there is truth to the Blair Witch? shrugs

Witchery can be used for good, yes, but its elements are just as hazardous as the human nature. If humans can do some pretty gnarly things, I’d hate to imagine what a witch would do.
