So I noticed a couple things while rewatching the yard sale scene of Toy Story 2 on YouTube, and it seems like they got in a couple references to Toy Story.
Sid’s red toolbox is sitting on one of the tables (missing the binford logo, though).
The Tinker Toy tin that Woody used as a podium is now at the yard sale, near the register
Candy Land, one of Andy’s board games also appears to be for sale (it’s very hard to see, but I’d know that font anywhere)
The switchplate is the same one Al has in his apartment
This is probably the most interesting; I think they wanted Hockey Puck to make a cameo at some point. When Al picks up a bunch of random items to hid Woody, a hockey puck is one of them. For a couple seconds, it appears to have legs, like the Hockey Puck in Toy Story, but in the next scene, the “feet” are gone. I really don’t know what to make of this, but it was a low-quality video anyways.
Yeah, the SNES used to be in the living room, but its now in Andy’s room.
EDIT: I noticed they’re selling the lamp, the recliner that Andy launched Woody with, the old TV stand, the armchair (the color was changed a little), and the other lamp near the couch from the first Toy Story. The table and large couch are still present when the new living room is seen in the Wall-E ad.
It’s also worth noting that Andy’s mom never took the Candyland game out of Andy’s room, yet it appeared there anyways. It didn’t appear at the end, inferring that it sold. Sorta like how there was an extra Rock-a-Stack ring in the toy box.
Huh. I never really paid much attention to what was sitting around during the yard sale scene. But I’m gonna have to remember to look! Especially for Hockey Puck.
Well, the console is the North American one, however, the controller was based off the PAL region one (with the multi-colored buttons). Still not exact, but Pixar probably didn’t want to run into troubles there. Anyways, the cartridges are actually based on Sega Genesis cartridges. Probably a reference to how the Toy Story video game was on the Sega and Super Nintendo.
Well, like he said, the SNES came out in '91, and the movie was released in '95, so it’s right after the SNES became popular. So it makes very much sense that Andy would have one by the time the movie was out.
