TSS's Fan-Made Videos

Sorry I’m a bit late.

The Incredibles: World’s Greatest: Hey, pretty good. Watching this video was the first time I heard that song. You did a good job matching the clips with the lyrics, and I like the message. Also, where did you get the clip with Dash running across Egypt to the Great Wall of China? I’ve never seen that before.

The Incredibles: American Identity: Cool! I like how you put some of the characters’ words over the music, because it still fits in with the theme of the music video. The message was well told through that music video.

Bob & Helen Parr Music Video: I like how you cut the action scenes to match the beats and placed the love clips. Great job of expressing the strong love between this couple.

What else can I say? When it comes to making music videos for TI, you’re a pro!

Bright-Dot-Dasher:

Thanks! My whole intenetion was to match lyrics with the clips. As for the Dash/Egypt/China clip, I downloaded it from a website. It was from a SBC commercial.

Thanks. You didn’t find the voices distracting at all? That is totally different from what WALL-E told me.

Thank you again. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Well, I do try my best to make it a really good MV. Thanks again.

Well, you’ve done it again, TSS. Two fantastic videos as usual. Here’s what I have to say:

American Identity
I like how you went through each character’s intro at the beginning, and then before each chorus, you would put a piece of voiceover, a fade-out, followed by an explosion when the cymbals crashed to kick off the chorus. Yes, I noticed that trend, and it’s great you put in patterns throughout the video, because they act as signifiers or placemarkers, kinda like what real music videos do (Do you watch a lot of them, by the way? I don’t mean to sound flattering, but you seem to have a good sense of their format and timing). Lyrics match the clips as usual, and the song is pretty upbeat.
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite ‘move’ me as much as your previous vids did, but that’s just me, cos’ I’m not really in tune with ‘shouting’ rock ballads :stuck_out_tongue:, but it’s still a respectable effort.

World’s Greatest
Now this one appealed more to me. R Kelly was one of my favourite artistes, but I haven’t heard this song before. Once again you’ve done a nice job of synching the vids to the lyrics, I’m amazed you can find so many references to lines like “I’m the giant”, “I’m the star up in the sky”, “Look them in the eye”, “I’m a mountain peak up high,” etc. I like the harp strumming when Elastigirl bounces off into the sunset at 1:19, very appropriate. I laughed unintentionally at 1:25 because the line went “I am a lion, down in the jungle,” and then there was this shot of an overweight (at that time) Mr Incredible in his old suit stretching and swinging his arms.
One criticism I have is that the song picks up to a crescendo finale, but you (IMO) had used up most of the good clips in the beginning and couldn’t quite keep up the pace. Maybe you could have used the clips (still matching the giant, sky, eye, peak lines and all that) in chronological order and use more of the final battle with the Omnidroid at the climax, you know, try to make it look more ‘epic’ towards the end. But you worked with what you had, and I must commend you on that.

Keep up the good work! And I discovered two new songs today.

American Identity response:

Putting the voices in the MV was a challenge fore me. I have never combined movie audio and the music at the same time. It took me a whole day to figure it out to tell you the truth.

I don’t watch a lot of music videos on MTV, but I do watch a lot of fan-made ones, and from the excellent ones I watch, I developed a good sense of rythem, timing, and direction.

I understand that this song didn’t hit you like others. The song I used for this MV happens to be my most favorite song in the whole world, and I thought it fit. BUt its your opinion and I understand.

World’s Greatest response:

This song is one of my more favorite R. Kelly songs. It is a great inspiration song. That is why I chose it. I want this to inspire people. And it seems like I another mission accomplished for my MV. I tried to match the lyrics with the clips and take it as literal as possible.

For your critisicism, I understand. I never thought of it that way until you pointed it out. For the finale, I wanted a sharp and solid pattern, alternating from the Parrs in their normal clothes to their Incredible super suits. But I’ll remember your advice for next time. Thanks.

Check back in about three, four, or five days. I’ll post up another MV of mine.

I’m glad you took my constructive criticisms well, TSS. I look forward to your new MV. Is it another Pixar movie by any chance? Not that I don’t mind another Incredibles one, since you’re unbeatable when it comes to knowing that film in and out (gosh, I sound like such a suck-up :stuck_out_tongue:) but I’d like to see you try another movie for a change.

thedriveintheatre: Well, as of now, i am on a hiatus making music videos. But I plan to start another one up shortly. And I have 4 pre-planed music video ideas in mind. One of them included not just the Incredibles characters, but character from every onther Pixar movie.

Here is a fun video for all of you guys. This next video is a Violet and Dash Parr music video. This video is not only a tribute to both of them, but throughout the video, I wanted to display the brother and sister relationship they had. In the begining, they were fighting siblings. Near the end of the music video, (and the movie) both Vi and Dash realize they love each other and need each other more than they could ever imagine. Enjoy.

Violet & Dash Parr Music Video

This video is an early Valentines Day video. Oh well. It is a Violet Parr tribute video with added emphasis on her relationship with Tony Rydinger. I wanted to portary her starting as a “shrinking Violet” and as the music video progresses, she gains more and more confidence, transforming into a “blooming Violet”.

On Youtube, I see a lot of surprising Violet Parr pairings. For example, I see a Violet Parr/Buddy Pine (Syndrome) music video. Other times, I find a Violet Parr/Wilbur Robinson music video. However, I have never found a music video dedicated to the true and flluffy relationship between Violet Parr and Tony Rydinger. I believe I am one of (if not) the first person to make an MV like that. So I want to all to watch, enjoy and appreciate.

A while ago, I asked many people to help conrtibute to this music video. I asked people to conjure up some Violet or Tony fan art or fan graphics. Tony Rydinger footage in the Incredibles is very limited and the song I used is about 4 minutes long. I couldn’t get Tony to be featured in half of my music video. That is why I requested anything/everything fan-made work of the two teens. Extra thanks goes out to Pixar Planet members: PixarVixen, rachelcakes1985, and directive.

And now, enjoy.

Violet Parr: Invisible (Violet Parr/Tony Rydinger)

I liked the “early Valentines Day video” (or it could be a really late one. :stuck_out_tongue:), another stellar effort from you, TSS. I see that Violet’s character development is one of your favourite themes in your fan works. That’s why I like Pixar’s movies, because almost every one of their characters undergoes some form of change in the movie and has a unique story arc.

And geez, I can forgive a Violet and Wilbur pairing, but Syndrome? She didn’t even have any chemistry with him in the movie (and he wanted to kill her as much as the rest of the family!) :open_mouth: But I’d be interested to see the videos to see how good the editors are at making the pairings ‘work’!

Anyway, back to your video. I liked this song, it brings back good memories back in the year when they used to play this on radio in Singapore. Clay Aiken has a nice voice, and the song choice is very appropriate (I mean, she is invisible after all!).

I liked how you began and end the video with Tony and Violet, and you matched the lyrics to the footage throughout the middle. I know it’s difficult to convey their relationship with the limited clips available, but I think you did quite a decent job. And I noticed you displayed the fan art at the beginning, the middle ‘intermission’ and the end as sort of ‘bookends’. I see a lot of slideshows of fan arts that masquerade as ‘music videos’ (they should be called ‘photo narratives’! ), so it’s interesting you’ve mashed the two formats (stills and videos) into an engaging piece. And you did a collaboration with other people on the forum! Great promotion method too. First time I’ve seen someone attempt these two things, so I think you’ve set a precedent here!

All in all, it’s another good video from the #1 Incredibles fan on the Tube! It didn’t knock my socks off as much as “Love Me When I’m Gone” or the “Incredits”, but maybe because I wasn’t into the Tony/Violet relationship thing. But it’s nice to see a slower and more feel-good tribute like “World’s Greatest”. Yeah…I like it. :sunglasses: Okay, I’ll lay off the smilies.

And I can’t wait to see the MV which promises to include “not just the Incredibles characters, but character from every other Pixar movie.” An omnibus compilation… sweet!

thedriveintheatre

Thank you so much for your extended review. You happen to be my personal favorite reviewer. You explain everything you like with such detail and praise. Your occasional criticisms are direct and to the point, and sometimes are usually right.

Anyways, in respnse to your review:

I’m not sure about making it “work”, however, almost every Violet/Wilbur fan-video I see always seem to work. The “Synlets”, as people call them, are usually made out of pure fandom. It annoys me, but who am I to say which pairing is right?

My inspiration for the song Invisible came from a Disney on Ice show I saw about a 1.5-2 years ago and a month ago. The shows were titled Disney on Ice: A Disneyland Adventure, and Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic. In these shows, Violet Parr had her own little solo number. It was when the family started displaying their Super Suits. The song to Violet’s solo was Invisible by Clay Aiken. Here is a link to show you my inspiration.

First of all, I do whatever I can to avoid using still photos in my fan-made videos. I disagree with slideshows. But with the limited footage of Tony, I didn’t have much of a choice. This was the first time that I combined both elements of photo and video in a creation. Thanks for your comments.

I understand if it doesn’t end up as one of your favorites. But if I can amaze you with this video, then I have done my job.

I know you are excited for my “Every Pixar [female] character” musc video, but don’t expect for it to come anytime soon. Maybe after a month or two. I’m working on another MV right now.

Speaking of which, what did you think of my Violet & Dash music video thedriveintheatre?

Here is my next Music video. This one focus the relationship between Syndrome and Mirage. It is set to the song “Take a Bow” by Rihanna. I hope all of you enjoy.

Syndrome & Mirage

here is my most recently completed video. it is a tribute to Helen Parr set to the music “Pocketful of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield. My intention was to highlight her moments ad both a Super Hero and a mother.

Helen (Elastigirl) Parr

I like how the Syndrome and Mirage MV was matched clips with lyrics most of the time. Isn’t that the song you mentioned often in the What are You Listening to Right Now thread…I’m assuming you were rewatching this MV when you listed that…right?

I love the Helen (Elastigirl) Parr MV was done. It describes her character really well, and the song’s pretty cool.

Violet Parr: Invisible (Violet Parr/Tony Rydinger): I honestly wasn’t that much into the couple because I thought that Tony was just a crush of Violet’s in the movie and they weren’t a true couple, at least not yet. But still, kudos to you for being the first (that I’ve seen) one to make an MV about them. Yeah, I think it was the lack of many appearances of Tony in the film that stopped other people from making this kind of video. But congrats- it sure didn’t stop you!

I’m watching the Violet and Dash Parr Music Video right now, and I gotta say, it’s quite enjoyable- lovin’ it.

BDD:

Thanks for the comment. yes, this was the song I posted in the What are You Listening to Right Now Thread.

Thanks. it is my favorite Natasha Bedingfield song.

I believe in a TI sequel there can be potential for them to extend on their relationship. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks. I hope that you were going to have fun with it.

This next music video was not made by me at all. This one was made by my twin brother. He has this idea brewing in his head for about a year before he started it. After completion, I strongly believe that this MVV is one of the best TI MVs out there in the whole world.

This video is a tribute video to the Incredibles. What makes this MV impressive is the use of effects to make it more dramatic and energetic. He hopes you all enjoy it. He really had fun making it. It was a challenge but the final product was all worth it.

The Incredibles: Bring Me To Life

Hey guys, I would like to publicly apologize for not posting any MVs lately. This project that I am working on right now is really, really, really hard and huge. Not to mention school eats up a lot of my time. I work on it when ever I can, but I want to tell all you guys that I am nearly halfway done with my latest MV.

In the mean time, I have a request. If you have not viewed any of the previous videos I have posted up, I unvite you to and please comment.

Really good transitions between scenes of your brother’s video there. Great use of the hum-drum every day moments in the movie contrasted with the explosive scenes, too. I can’t say I’m into that particular song, but it suited the video well. Does your brother also like The Incredibles as much as you?

rachel: He used to, but he is not a big fan of TI any more. He still likes it, but he isn’t as crazy as I am.

Well, if this project is taking up a lot of your time, that means you’re putting a lot of work into it! It’s gonna be huge man, by the sound of it. Is it another Incredibles vid, or another Pixar movie perhaps? It’s okay if you want to keep it a surprise (I prefer it that way), and it’s been a long hiatus since you made anything new, so I’m excited to see what you got in store for us… I’ll check out your previous MVs, man, I’ve been lagging behind in your updates.

TDIT: It is going to be another Incredibles video. After this video, I plan on working on a multi-pixar character MV.

In the meantime, I can’t wait for your reviews.
