Oh, thanks, LG. I don’t watch TV, except if there’s a really good movie on.
IncredigirlVirginia- Ah, I wish I could be like you. I watch way too much TV for my own good!
Speaking of television shows, the launch of the last Big Brother ever was on tonight…Looks like it’s going to be another good series! Is this something that was transferred across the world?
I’m assuming you mean BB in the UK; Big Brother is still going strong here in the US (yeah, I know we ripped it off of you guys). It’s definitely not as exciting here as it is there, but hey; as long as it’s Big Brother, I’ll watch it.
Oh, and the Glee finale had me crying manly tears. (not really)
Thought it was pretty funny… I liked the failed attempt to get a senior to attend their dorm party! I’ll check the rest of the episode out when I get the chance. xD
Sorry to change the topic on this heated Glee discussion… x] (I’ll probably post my thoughts on the Glee thread laterz)
Alright so now that it’s The Next Food Network Star time, my DVR is all set I believe they’re already two episodes in, but I’ve only seen the start. Anyone else following it? Right now I’m very Team Herb and Team Aria but most of all Team Aarti! All three are talented and not to mention adorable haha.
I am also watching The Next Foodnetwork Star. I watched it twice, actually, without meaning to. This season is much more intense than last year!
Yeah, I’m enjoying it. Do you have a favorite finalist(s) yet?
If you don’t stop staring at my cousin, I’ma shoot you with my finger-pistol.
I’m really excited for the remake of Hawaii Five-O coming this fall! In case you haven’t heard, CBS has commissioned a reimagining of the TV show with the greatest theme song ever and revamped it for a new generation of fans. Seems like digging the 80s backcatalogue of cheesy shows seems to be the order of the day…
Although I’ve never watched the original, I think the new one looks fantastic on its own! Aussie star Alex O’Loughlin takes on the role of team leader Steve McGarett, while Scott Caan plays his exasperated partner Danny Williams. Rounding up the group is steely-faced Daniel Dae Kim as Detective Chin Ho Kelly and the lovely Grace Park as his cousin Kona Kalakaua. Together, this elite team of state law enforcers fight crime and hunt down the most dangerous villains that threaten the Aloha state’s peaceful existence.
This is like CSI: Miami and NCIS: LA with ten times the energy and fun! And from the dramatic opening of the pilot of the ‘Exclusive Preview’ clip, there’s probably just as much heart and character development! I don’t think I’ve laughed this many times watching a trailer (especially at that surreal part where [spoil]the thug gets blindsided by a freakin’ truck[/spoil]!)
If there’s one TV show I’m looking forward to the most this year, it’s this one! I mean: Sun, sand, and seedy crime? It’s like… it was made for me! Oh, god, I can’t wait!
I watch Pretty Little Liars, Pawn Stars, The Office, Glee, Seinfeldp, and Royal Pains. (:
I’m getting tired of Glee, though. The first half of the season was great, but the second… not so much. :l
I’m getting into Good Luck Charlie and Cake Boss.
Cake Boss is just an extraordinary reality TV show! Incredible! Just a glimpse at one episode and it’s just- WOW! I mean, how are cakes that detailed even possible? It’s amazing, really. I don’t loyally watch it every time it’s on, but once in a while it’s worth seeing- then it’s hard to look away from the screen.
Also, it’s probably a coincidence, but I couldn’t help saying plenty of times to my family how those people have Pixar names. Buddy, Remy, Violet, Bob…?
You’ve gotta be kidding me. xD What next? Wally? Kevin? Lightning?
I discovered two interesting cartoons yesterday. The first is Oggy and the Cockroaches, a French cartoon in the tradition of Chuck Jones and Tex Avery, in that it relies on visual humour rather than pop culture references or rapid-fire dialogues. In fact, much of it is pantomime much like the Road Runner/Tom and Jerry cartoons, with the occasional laughter or scream. Very refreshing to see such classical-style animation, without the annoying high-school accents or kung-fu fistfights that are common in Western animation nowadays.
The second is Spliced, a Canadian production. The plot is like a mix between The Island of Dr. Moreau and Lord of the Flies. A band of genetically-combined animals are left behind on a remote island after their creator was arrested for ‘crimes against nature and good taste’. Left to their own devices, they establish their own government and city based on their knowledge from TV shows. There are a lot of visual puns like ‘breaking the fourth wall’ and split-screen effects, as well as mock commercials bookmarking each segment.
And I watched the Oz version of Minute to Win It today. I thought the premise looked pretty inane from the ads (contestants go through challenges involving household appliances and objects to win a million dollars), but the enthusiastic contestants more than made up for the excitement. I actually found myself rooting for them, something I rarely do on game shows. And Betty Blueprint, the robotic narrator for the challenge instructions sounds suspiciously like GLADOS from the Portal series.

I am very much looking forward to Law & Order: Los Angeles. I recently got into the mothership series, and then NBC decided to cancel it two weeks prior to the 20th season finale. So, we never got a proper finale for the show; what’s worse, it was tied with Gunsmoke for the longest-running primetime drama on television. Petitions have been made, including a campaign on Facebook by rabid Law & Order fan Lindsay Vonn to save the show, and Dick Wolf is trying to find a new home for the original series.
NBC has released the first promo for Law & Order: Los Angeles. Have a look:
I tried watching an episode of the original series once in a hotel room. It was so boring it nearly sent me to sleep (but I stuck through to the end). Maybe I was tired and it was late or something. Or the fact that it was a procedural in the strictest sense, ie I don’t get a glimpse of the character’s personal lives, or their relationships with one another, at least for that episode. They just investigate the crime scene, talk to some lawyers, interrogate the suspects, set up the prosecution case, etc.
I also watched an episode each from SVU and the short-lived UK spin-off and they were more stimulating than the L&O I saw in the hotel room. But, of course, not as entertaining as NCIS or CSI. I suppose it’s more for those who are interested in the criminal justice system and realist-procedural shows like The Shield or The Wire, rather than the over-the-top nonsensical fare of Gibbs or Horatio.
But L&O LA? Sounds interesting… as Rhino from Bolt would say, “The Scariest Place on Earth.” I’ll give it a go.

I’m really excited for the return of Rescue Special Ops tonight. It’s an action drama from Australia’s Nine Network. For an elite unit of rescue workers, time-sensitive emergencies in the most hostile environments are all in a day’s work. The show takes place within Sydney, and it’s interesting to see the various places I know being featured in each episode (like last season’s rescue of an extreme base jumper from Sydney Tower). I can’t wait to see what adventures the team’ll get up to next.
Interestingly, the teaser ad for RSO is remarkably similar to a Bear Gryllis show on the Discovery Channel…
Nine’s bizarrely similar Bear Grylls promo - Via Mumbrella
There’s also another show in a similar vein (pardon the pun) set in San Francisco, USA called Trauma. I’ve been meaning to watch it for some time now, and I watched a few episodes online on 7’s Catch-Up TV. From what I’ve seen, it’s a very riveting show, as you not only see the usual action-packed rescue sequences, but also the everyday personal lives of these first-responder paramedics. It’s like Grey’s Anatomy with an adrenaline shot!
Too bad like Life, another NBC show I loved, it got cancelled after two seasons.
I like National Geographic, History, Health, and all those channels. The only show I regularly watch is Pawn Stars. Yeah, I don’t watch TV much.
I decided to give Lost in Space a shot. The episodes are REALLY long and pretty cheesy, but I enjoy it. I’m…only on the eleventh episode…but I’m still enjoying it.
I really don’t like soap-opera-y shows like The O.C or The Secret Life
but I recently have become super addicted to Pretty Little Liars
… & I have no idea why. Maybe because I’m bored during summer ?
Steve Carell confirmed yesterday that the upcoming seventh season of The Office will be his last, as his contract expires.
Wow, no more Michael Scott. I really can’t believe The Office has been on the air for so long; it feels like it just started!
The idea and drama of those types of shows actually does interest me, but I don’t watch them because of the inappropriate stuff.
