TV Shows You Watch

Yeah. My favorite Jon Stewart segment was his first show after 9/11. No jokes, of course. Just him giving a speech about it, and was nearly in tears. One of the best TV moments, one of the greatest speeches I have ever heard. It moves me every time.

I personally love these two shows, becaues they got me into politics. And thanks to them, I am more informed about the world around me. They just mean lot to me.

Virginia: And it’s fine if you don’t like them! You don’t have to. But I will say, there are a lot of segmants from them that aren’t political. They address politics of course, especially now that it’s an election season. But that’s not all they talk about. I’m not convincing you to watch it, I just want to clarify that. BC in general, I think that’s one misconception about the show.

I’m not really comfortable around most political humor either, especially as someone undecided about where they stand at this point. Although this program sounds well-balanced how Kenzie described it, I tend to feel uneasy about these things, especially when viewing them with other people, because of how passionate people are about their beliefs.

That is so exactly how I feel!!! I sort of have Right leanings(sue me) but there are some left issues that are very important to me. I don’t want to be influenced until I’m sure though, as I remain undecided on a great many things. I don’t need political satire(even mixed into other things) to help me. It usually in general hurts my feelings anyway.

That’s one beauty of life. I think we as people generally feel we have to be on a side. One or the other. That’s just what society teaches us. But in reality, things like politics and philosophy constantly change and grow, and our feelings about them change and grow as well. I am defintely not the same person I was 5 years ago, or even a year ago. My opinions have changed. And I’m undecided on many things, and there’s nothing wrong with that!

I do understand what you mean, there is a pressure by society, I believe, to pick sides. Which I could never do. That’s why I’m a registered independent, even though I agree with 99% of the Democrat platform. I’ll always be registered independent.

I see what you mean. Personally if I had to pick one party, I’d say Republican. But I believe in voting for whoever would be the best leader, as opposed to always voting down party lines.

Anyone here like marathons?

Of course if it’s super long I don’t sit though the whole thing but I like it when my favorite shows are on for a while thena show I hate.

EXACTLY how I feel!

Whoa, we are way off topic now!

I just record the episodes I want to watch, and then watch them later on.

I noticed that The Office won’t be on Thursday on NBC.

I agree wholeheartedly. Anyway…

Is The Voice any good? I’m always hearing clashing opinions on it.

It is taking a break, it’ll return in April (on the 12th, if I remember rightly).

Justified’s a pretty cool show, from what I’ve seen

I’ve never heard of it.

It’s on FX and had Timothy Olyphant playing a modern-day Dirty Harry. Has a nice Western vibe to it.

Well, I watch it. Whether it’s better than AI, I don’t know, because I think I like the format of AI better. “The Voice” spends roughly 2 weeks doing blind auditions, A MONTH doing battle rounds to pick the finalists (sooooo anti-climactic), and then finally goes to the finals for only a few shows… Whereas AI has finals that last, what, 3 months? I prefer that, personally.

But the judges on “The Voice” are better, for sure, and there’s a pretty good range of singers: high school amateurs, older contestants with lots of experience, musicians with failed records, etc.

I see. Sucks though since I just got back into the show.

I’ve only seen The Voice once with my grandma and her sister.

I haven’t heard of it.

I didn’t care for the US Office until James Spader came along (I still miss Boston Legal). Every episode this season I’ve been liking the original characters more and more. Now with Catherine Tate (I still miss her as companion in Doctor Who :stuck_out_tongue:) I really can’t wait for it to continue!

I found the last episode to be the funniest I’ve seen so far. It was hilarious to see Robert California sit back in amusement and watch everything unfold.

But, but, all the ones with Spader are the ones without Steve Carell! I agree, I like Spader. It’s too bad he’s not returning for next season. But I respectfully disagree. I don’t like Catherine Tate’s character, and while I still like the show, it was way better in the pre Spader days, when Steve was still in it.

I strongly, strongly dislike Tate’s character. I don’t understand her sense of humor at all, or her motives, or anything. Never before have I disliked something on “The Office” on this level! I really hope she leaves soon… She’s honestly one of the most poorly written characters I have ever seen on a show I admire otherwise.

Of course, I miss Michael Scott, and it’s hard for anyone to really replace the silly but complex character he was, but I do like Andy as boss. He’s not as great as Michael Scott, but he’s a good replacement because he has both emotional and funny moments.
