That does sound like an interesting show! But I’ve never heard about MeTV.
I’ve only heard of “Columbo” when people refer to it on other shows, like how old people like it a lot. Hmm, Netflix has it on instant, and it has a good rating. I might watch an episode or two. ![]()
There are some older shows I love that other people aren’t terribly interested in, though most people are familiar with some episodes. Basically, the classics: “The Honeymooners” is one of my all-time favorite shows (it’s so brilliant!), and I recently became obsessed with “I Love Lucy” as well.
I Love Lucy is a great show.
I have never seen Honeymooners, sadly.
And my favorite old TV show is The Jack Benny Program.
Oh, I’m almost positive you would love “The Honeymooners”! I’ve watched the entire series (only 39 episodes) in a marathon many, many times all the way through. There are also many lost episodes I’ve watched. The show is just brilliant for a comedy. If you watched it, you would understand the incredible influence it’s had on sitcoms. Great characters, funny writing, relatable living situation (poor couple living in a dinky apartment in Brooklyn).
My favorite episode of Columbo is Identity Crisis. It’s kind of confusing, but Nelson is in it. <3 It’s about Nelson, who’s from the CIA, and a double agent. Another agent suspects him, and he kills him.
Another one I like is Fade in to Murder, where the killer is a star on a TV show. There’s some funny parts in that one.
I also like Death Lends a Hand. It’s about a private investigator, and a husband comes in and wants to know if his wife is cheating on him, and he falsifies the report. He then tries to blackmail the wife and when she wanted to tell her husband she was cheating, he (investigator) gets really angry and accidentaly kills her.
Another one I like is called Double Shock, where one actor plays identical twins. That in itself is so interesting to me, especially considering how different their personalities are. I really like the twin Dexter. <3
A well liked scene in the show is in the episode The Greenhouse Jungle. It’s the one where he falls down the hill. It’s hilarious!
Those aren’t the “best” episodes, they’re just the ones I really like.
I remember an episode of I Love Lucy where the house is shaking. That was hilarious!
I’ve been watching Clone High all day today. Fun, under-appreciated show. (and most of the episodes are on Youtube, so there’s really no reason not to check it out
)
Oh man, that’s such a great show.
I liked the South Park episode from yesterday.
It start outs with Cartman talking to Kyle’s mom about Judaism. Kyle tell’s him to get out since he knows he will only make fun of him later. At a easter egg hunt hosted by a grocery store, Cartman tells the kids about the “Jewpacabra”. He says it will come out since Easter and Passover will be on the same week. Kyle teels him to stop doinf this since the people who believe this stuff “Are either lying or stupid.” Later that night Butters and Cartman go out and try yo get footage of it. The next day he shows it to the owners of the store. They beleive him (Expect for one guy) and decide to take it to experts. They claim it’s real but Cartman disagrees. They tell him it will go after him. Cartman is later and a church scared and has some of the kids guarding the door. The store owners get him and tie him up in the park will the easter egg hunt will be. He is dressed up like a bunny. The experts shoot him with a bart and he passes out. He has a dream were he’s the son of a Pharaoh. He’s told that God is mad at the Egyptions for hating Hebrews and they they will die. His father tells him that’s not true. Then all the egyptions snd their pets die, including Cartman but not the Pharaoh. Kyle has guilt leaving him out there and takes him home. The next day Cartman tells everyone that he is now Jewish and they should stop the Easter egg huny and worship the Pharoah. Cartman teels Kyle he really beleives in Judaism and Kyle says he knows (He think’s he’s lying). It ends with Cartman telling Kyle Happy Passover and Kyle doing the same. It then shows the sun with the Star of David in it.
Overall I liked it. I read some people hate it since Cartman is a Jew now. I do wonder if he’s going to stay one and not make fun of them anymore.
I really like South Park’s episode last night. I thought it was very clever.
idk if Cartman being Jewish will be a reaccuring thing. Sometimes the ends of the show imply something, and it’s never brought up again.
Just watched the first season of Game of Thrones in two days. Great stuff, especially for TV. I really think a majority of the sex scenes are pretty unnecessary though ![]()
Isn’t that always the case with premium cable shows?
I haven’t watched that show but I’m wondering if I’ll like it. I’ve never gotten into stuff like LOTR, so I dunno.
I’m now 2/3rds finished with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Boo.
Yeah, I’m probably going to cry when I finish. Spike’s my favorite character by far. Willow’s second. Really, I love all the main characters/Scooby Gang, though, and the dimensional qualities, unique attributes, and development of each character are some of the strengths of the series.
Who else here remembers the childrens show, Jakers! The Adventures of Piggly Winks?
It was about a Grandpa pig living in the United States, and would tell his grandchildren stories of him growing up in Ireland? And there was a talking sheep voiced by Mel Brooks?
That show was boss.
I’m now 70% done with “Buffy.” Now I’m just waiting for the day when the finale is over and I start bawling (then move on to “Angel” and hope I like that).
I stayed up late last night to watch “The Body” (directed and written by Joss Whedon), and it was one of the most brilliant episodes of television I’ve ever seen, but I would actually go as far as to say it takes the top trophy. I mean, there’s an actual mark of an auteur in it, which is something I rarely see in a television series. The same goes for some other Whedon episodes, such as “Hush” and “Restless”—both of which I coincidentally consider two of my top “Buffy” episodes so far. But “The Body” is just brimming with brilliance. I can feel that the episode was close to Whedon’s heart, and I admired that it took a step back from the fantasy/sci-fi elements to focus on the horror of a natural tragedy. Whedon made many effective decisions as a director, such as the little things Buffy’s POV focuses on, the use of natural background noises, the complete absence of a score (YES!!!) and “previously on Buffy” intro, the awkward silences, the long takes, the respectful and subtle handling of a particular relationship Willow has (too lazy to put spoilers so I’m being vague!). So many good things about this episode. I just want to write an essay about it!
queen_of_painting: “The Body” is incredible. It sucks to see people dismiss Buffy as a campy fantasy show, when there’s more raw human emotion in one episode like that than there is in the entire duration of many shows that try to pass themselves off as dramas. Prepare to cry your eyes out at “The Gift” by the way.
I completely agree, and I finished “The Gift” a few hours ago.
I didn’t exactly judge “Buffy” in a negative way before I started this marathon, as I had seen the last two seasons in full when they were originally aired (though I barely remember them), but I did sort of toss the show aside because I wasn’t sure how “good” it would really be. I prefer shows that focus on complex portraits rather than the plot—though both are important—and “Buffy” is a fantastic show. This show has some of the best characters I’ve seen. Spike and Willow are my favorites, though I truly do love everyone (except Dawn, at least in season 5).
I’m happy that The Office is returning this Thursday. Felt like forever since the last new episode…
Oh yeah! I’m stoaked too.
I just saw The Jerry Springer Show on TV. That show is an embarrassment. Everything is obviously staged.
I really liked the new South Park
It starts out with some of the boys having lunch. Butter’s comes up with a black eye because he’s being bullyed (which turns out to be his Grandma). They tell him to tell a teacher or get a bigger bully to get them but he dosen’t wanna. Stan says bullying needs to be stopped and Red agrees. My Mackey is seen talking to a man (forgot his name) who want’s to stop bullying eventhough he’s a bully himself. He teels him to cancel his possitive speech and have for to stop bullying and calls him a dork, which makes him cry. At the assembly he tells the kids they should make anti bully video. He calls them chicken but then Stan says he’ll make it, Red agrees again. Butter’s Grandma visits and starts to bully him when his parent’s arn’t looking. They kids make the video but Butter’s dosen’t wanna in the middle of it. Kyle agrees and tells him to stop even though he dosne’t. Kyles says something about ******* off in San Diego. We see Butter’s Grandma at school in the boys bathroom and she locks the door and bullys him. Butter’s decides to go Professor Chaos on his grandma but she has an evil outfit also and bullys him. A studio buys his film and Stan get’s populer. Kyle think’s the movie should go on the internet to have kids see it instead so it can be for free. The bully man sees Stan in the bathroom and locks the door and bullys him. This would happen again but the Studio owner would bully the Bully man. We then see Stan and Butter’s on the Dr. Oz Show. They talk but Butters gets mad and beats him up. the Sudio gets mad at Stan and calls him a name. We then see Jesus in the bathtoom as he locks the door and bullys the Studio guy. Stan is hated at school and he knows he can only do one thing. He goes to San Diego to **** off.
I really liked it. I liked the story and how Butter’s grandma was a bully. I also liked the music video. I liked how Red had a decent part too. I didn’t get the ending though. What was that about>?
I need to see the new South Park episode.
