Admittedly I’ve only seen her in the trailer, but she turns me riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight off. Her ‘face’ isn’t cute or expressive at all…
I’m hoping I like her more when I actually see the movie.
Any thoughts?
She doesn’t bother me - I know she’s not the cutest but hey … she was funny in the trailer. xD
Well, you’ve only seen the trailer so you can’t judge too much of her character yet. As for her face not being expressive, so far I’ve seen happy, angry and neutral expressions from her… Pixar just wouldn’t design a character if it couldn’t be expressive.
It reminds me of when, for the longest time, Sulley from Monsters, Inc. wore glasses until they did away with them because they obstructed his facial expressions. And besides, there are other ways of communicating her feelings. I think it’s because EVE comes across as a bit cold in the trailer sometimes, but that isn’t because Pixar couldn’t make her express any other emotions, it’s because that’s the way the sort of character they wanted her to be.
Her design I like… she looks like an egg. He he.

Mainly because she reminds me a lot of Gir from Invader Zim…

I mean, you can dislike it if you want, but I personally think it’s really cool.
Her face is expressive though. I have to disagree there. There’s a lot in her eyes and the animation of it.
But then again, from the trailer, [spoil]EVE seems like a kinda distant/ not completely cute person anyway. I think her design fits her.[/spoil]
I like it. I know lost of people compare her design to Apple and her shape to an egg. I think of her as a polished ipod ice cream cone floating around (yeah, I admit that sounds weird.) When I first saw the trailer, her design was completely unexpected for me, but nonetheless, Pixar does unexpected things, but makes them in a way you like.
And even if you don’t like EVE’s design, or the way she is in the trailer, it won’t tell you about how her character is like in the movie. Appearances aren’t everything.
My first reaction to EVE was “man, why can’t my iPod do that?” You have to admit, she does look like one. In the same respect she also reminds me of a Speak’n’Spell. Can’t really explain why. One of those nostalgia things. Probably that old-timey LCD screen thing.
At any rate, I’ll hold judgment on her until I see more body and eye expressions.
They did consult the lead designer of the iMac, iPod, and iPhone (one person mind you) on EVE’s design. The news reports don’t sound like he really changed much, but still.
She seems very expressive, though a lot of it is in her eyes. Check out that Brazilian Anti-Piracy clip someone posted. I think that’s a good example of what she’s capable of.

I have seen two trailer type things, and aside from some WALL-E posters, that’s it. I don’t remember many of her facial expressions, but I have to go with what everyone else is saying and agree that Pixar would never create a character that couldn’t express itself well. I love how EVE contrasts so much with WALL-E, making their love all the more special.
I love the way EVE looks. She reminds me of my first iPod!
I love the eggshaped white shell and L.E.D. eyes.
Her design follows the first rule of good design:

EVE is SO expressive from the clip I saw with Nemo. She just looks cold, because she’s supposed to be the polar opposite of WALL-E.
She’s supposed to be, but will she be really? Every relationship has to have a connection point. 
Darnit PIXAR, you’re characters are just so awesome and make me wanna write tons of speculation down.
i think it is the whole idea of looks can be deceiving.
Though I lost any qualms when I saw that clip of her giggling in front of Wall-E. I think that’s one of my weaknesses, is watching people giggle. Must have come from watching too much anime.
My EVE toy has 6 different expressions, and leave her in ‘perpetual giggle eyes’ look.
Yea, that got to me too. Also, the expressions on th toy are great (darn you for already having it. 
jk) Heck, I’d say that she can more easily reach many emotions than WALL-E (not saying WALL-E can’t be emotional. It’s just harder to do. That’s why PIXAR is so brilliant though)
Eve’s eyes and body language are very readable from the clips I’ve seen, and the noises and words she does use also help. I think it’s just that her body is shaped a bit like a penguin that subconsciously irks us.
I LOVE EVE, She is so cute and what a Wonderful character, Her facial expressions are the best, especially the giggle eyes. 
EVE is a very well designed character IMhO.
