Valerie LaPointe

HamptonRoads.com via Animated-News introduces Valerie LaPointe, A Pixar

story artist. She talks abot an unknown upcoming

movie.

Article

Intere

sting read.

Valerie

doesn’t really say anything about the unknown movie. The article focuses more on telling her

story.

~~=oP

Yeah, she doesn’t say much save one line concerning this

“unnamed project”. Heck, it might not even be Pixar-related…though it does sound like it. It can’t

be WALL-E, so perhaps it really is another Pixar movie? Toy Story 3…maybe?

On the plus side, I suppose we should congratulate her for landing a job in one of the most well-known

animation studios of all time (besides Disney). Kinda cool…considering that she is a storyboard artist – my

dad just might know Ms. LaPointe. In any case, I’ll keep an eye out for her name in upcoming Pixar projects.

Do you think that she could be the director of a Pixar film that is set to be realeased after

Toy Story 3?

TSS- I somehow doubt it. It seems to me she just started "working her way up the

ladder" so to speek.

The Star Swordsman - Nah, I don’t think so. She said the project

is secret…that it “could be anything”, and – as Gasduude said – she

just landed the job only recently. It’s highly unlikely that she would start such an advanced project as that

right out of the box, especially when she might not even know what it is.

Congrats to getting into

Pixar! Future project? Most likely this will be after Toy Story 3, or even

Wall-E. You never know. I would actually like to see a female director for a

change.

But I would imagine that she would

play some sort of important rule in the next Pixar film.

But TSS, she just

got the job. Story artist is an entry level position, which is why

I’m applying for it soon. But anyway, you don’t gain a title like director that

quickly.

Take Brad Bird for example. He started out as an animator, but he didn’t direct a major film

until 19 years later. And this is Brad Bird I’m

talking about here. The man is a genius, but genius isn’t enough to get somebody to the top. He had to work

his butt off.

I don’t want to condone Valerie’s talent because she must have a great deal of it to have

landed a job at Pixar, but, you’re thinking too highly of her too soon. :stuck_out_tongue:

~~=oP

My point exactly. The same situation goes for my dad as well, who has been in the animation business for over

40-50 years as a storyboard artist/animator, but it still took him a while before he landed a job as director. It

takes some time for these things to happen – just learning to draw fluently steals a good ten years or more of

your life. :stuck_out_tongue:

PixarVixen - By the way, PV, I know this isn’t relevant to

what we’re talking about, but I just have to say that I love your new avatar and

signature.

Heheh. Thanks,

Mitch! I love my new avatar, too. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Love" />

I decided to make it permanent,

because nothin’ signifies PixarVixen better than Tony Rydinger. ;-p

But um,

ahem, back to Valerie…

~~=oP

PixarVixen - You are most welcome! To tell you the truth, I’ve

been waiting for you to get a Tony Rydinger-related avatar since I first met you on Pixar

Planet. I thought to myself, "If she loves Tony so much then where is the avatar for

it?". (snigger) It looks very cute, PV.

But yes, back to Valerie…
