Venice: Golden Lion for John Lasseter and Pixar!!

Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to be awarded to John Lasseter and the directors of Disney•Pixar!!

WOOOOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO PIXAR’S DIRECTORS!
This year I will absolutely be in Venice from September 2 to 12!

Congratulations to him and Pixar! I dont think I’ve heard of that award before…

haven’t you ever heard about the Venice Film Festival? The little brother of Cannes and Berlinale :stuck_out_tongue:
This is the most important acknowledgment to the work of Pixar along with the 22 Oscars and the exhibition at the MoMA!

That’s pretty impressive, considering Pixar has really only been in the public eye for a little over a decade.

That’s brilliant! Congratulations to John Lasseter and Pixar, this is definitely well deserved!

John Lasseter and co. really deserve this award, if they don’t, who does?! They not only revolutionized animation but also film making in general.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I’ve never heard of this award either, but if it’s prestigious enough, it’s gotta be good. Any form of recognition is awesome in my books.

Elikrotupos, if you’re indeed gonna be in Venice, maybe you can be our “roving reporter”, or uh… “Foreign Correspondent”. Eheh…

I really hope I could be there in September. I think I will, but I should be busy at university ;_;

Thats awesome, id love to meet John, he seems like a very cool, and down to earth dude, not to mention his skills! hah congrats to him though for sure!

That’s huge! Great job to John Lasseter! You deserve it, to say the least!

John Lasseter & Co. will be in Venice in September 6-7. Biennale have just announced the program of the celebrations:

  • World premiere of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3-D
  • Exclusive sneak peek at The Princess and the Frog, and other surprises yet tba during the award ceremony
  • Pixar Retrospective with Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, and the italian premiere of Up
  • Disney•Pixar Animation Master Class with John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich, a Panel with young european and italian animators, and Q&A.

I will be there at any cost!

Awesome! Congratulations to everyone at Pixar!
And by the way, in 2005 they gave this award to Hayao Miyazaki, so it was only a matter of time before Pixar was honored as well.
