So, I’ve been trying to research some of the early drafts of Toy Story (concept sketches, early storyboarding, deleted scenes, etc.) I have come across some rumors about early drafts of the confrontation scene with Sid. These rumors claim that the scene was once a lot more violent, with some claiming that Sid was killed in very early concepts. I have a hard time believing that Pixar would kill a child for playing with explosives, regardless of how the toys themselves saw his actions. If this version of the scene ever existed, it would have been pre-Black Friday Reel, when Disney was pressuring Pixar for an “edgier” film. There doesn’t appear to be any information online about how early drafts of this scene would have gone, and if there is I can’t find it at all. I’m leaning towards this darker version of the scene being just a fan rumor and not based in reality. But I can’t be sure. Is there any information out there confirming or denying this?
