Which system has better graphics is completely objective. Sure, the Playstation 3 and X-Box 360’s graphics are more realistic than the cartoonish Wii’s, but take a screenshot from pretty much any PS3 game, and I’d bet the only colours you see are gunmetal green, brown, and muzzle flash. The Wii’s graphics are charming and colourful, and in many cases, I prefer them over the realism of the other two consoles.
^ That’s pretty much the reason why I have no desire to buy an Xbox or Playstation. I’m quite happy and content with our Wii.
I agree! People always assumed detailed or realistic graphics are synonymous with “the best”. I’ve seen some games with really simple aesthetics that worked better that way than any other. Case in point: The Wind Waker
I definitely agree, but then, I only got my Xbox for Banjo-Kazooie… which was a Nintendo game to begin with anyway. xD
Oh, and Viva Piñata. That… doesn’t look like something that belongs on that ‘hardcore’ Xbox. Huh.
Oh my god, Viva Piñata! That’s the first of two games I bought for the Xbox (the other was Burnout Revenge)!
I played it for a while because I liked the whole ‘Sim’ nature to it. My sibs got bored with it after fifteen minutes. Funny thing is, one of our favourite games as kids was Creatures.
Anyone played or remembers this?
Oh lol I remember Creatures. I think I had part two some time or another. xD My critters would never eat, and then they died. Stupid things. xD
I remember it having a bunch of awesome surroundings, though.
Oh, and lately I’ve been really busy with Roller Coaster Tycoon. I love that game even if it is about fifteen years old haha xD
Aw… don’t call 'em stupid. Ahaha, I used to smack those annoying Grendels, but after awhile I got so annoyed with the Ettins, I started smacking them too! And then I’d send them back and forth on the cable car.
This is a pretty fun game I discovered from Wall-E Forums. Think of it as Super Mario meets a fifteen puzzle. And I just love the soundtrack!
Speaking of which, happy 25th anniversary to the Italian pumbler!
Gonna post this here too. Anybody who notices, might save them $200.
I’ve been intending to purchase this bundle myself (which is the PSP-3000 packaged with BBS), but I looked about, even on GameStop…and there seems to be a MAJOR issue going on.
Apparently, when playing BBS, even after an hour or so, a screen asking “Would you like to quite the game”? pops up, and continues to do so onward.
Honestly I don’t have all the details, but whatever the occurrance, it’s making players inable to play through the game as it should be played through.
Some have speculated it’s either a faulty hardware error with the PSP in the bundle (OR, perhaps with PSP-300- in general, and it was suggested that the 3.61 Firmware update has a handle in this) involving the “Home” button or a faulty UMD latch, OR that it could be BBS itself.
Whatever the reason or whatever, just wanted to point this out in case anybody is having problems themselves or are looking to purchase.
ALLOT of people have returned their bundles for new ones and STILL experiece the same problem.
Anyone heard of Eversion, Yume Nikki, Clock Tower or The Ao Oni? I enjoy a good horror and these are all very intriguing games, especially Yume Nikki.
Eversion is done in an 8-bit style like classic Mario platformers, and plays out like one - but you have to “evert” between worlds to complete it, and the everting goes… let’s just say… odd as the game progresses. I’ll leave ya’ll to discover the rest for yourselves.
Yume Nikki is a Japanese freeware game where you play as a reclusive girl named Madotsuki who refuses to go outside, so she spends the days dreaming. The dreams are very surreal and frightening, with the famous “Uboa” incident (it takes a long time, but believe me, the build-up makes it worth it! NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED).
Clock Tower is an old SNES game that also stars a girl, who moves into a manor (it takes place in '95) but terrible things happen to her family and friends there, some getting trapped, mutated, murdered, etc.
Kinda slow at times, but it’s probably the purest of “horror” games listed here.
The Ao Oni is downright bizzare… it’s also Japanese freeware, and I don’t think it’s been translated into English yet, but the set-up is very similar to Clock Tower, with a few middle schoolers trying to move into a dorm but it going wrong. There is a demon living there, a messed-up creature completely blue called the Ao Oni. He chases you most the game, but the worst part is, you never know when he’ll pop up…
All these games can be found played in their entirety (some with player’s commentary, called a “Let’s Play”) on YouTube. In particular is this hilarious Japanese Let’s Play of The Ao Oni… turn your speakers down, the screaming is sooo funny.
I just got Kameo: Elements of Power for mah 360. Yay Rare! I’ve heard that was a cool game, so yeah.
Still searching for Conker: (not-so-)Live and Reloaded but I don’t even think I can buy it if I ever come across it because I’m too young. :V
Oh Mah Gawd! Kameo was so awesome. My second favorite Rare game (behind Conker). This game meant so much to my childhood and I had so much fun beating it with my best friend. Cool boss battles, awesome characters and their abilities, and best of all (surprisingly) is the wicked sweet soundtrack. Just press “start” and let your ears fly away in peace- Hey come back ears!!!
After getting stuck early on in Spirit Tracks because of the spirit flute (possibly Nintendo’s single biggest blunder as far as game controls go), I get almost the same kind of annoyance in Phantom Hourglass.
After almost 50(!) attempts with the help of various walkthroughs I still haven’t managed to draw the triforce symbol on that door in the temple of the ocean king.
The door remains firmly closed.
Now I am playing Minish Cap, a good old-fashioned GBA Zelda without any fancy controls. You have no idea how good this feels…
Note to Nintendo: next time you “innovate” with the controls in a Zelda game (Skyward Sword, I am looking at you), please make sure they are intuitive and actually do work.
I’ve never actually liked ‘innovative’ gameplay, except for if it actually makes sense.
And yeah, Kameo is awesome! I’ve played through it a bit and am now in the Forgotten Forest or something. Yay!
Oh yes, of course, the music’s amazing. Obvious, as this is RARE we’re talking about. xD
I believe I’ve seen the most touching video game trailer in a long while. I want that music, it is simply unbelievable.
Halo: Reach - Deliver Hope
And for fans of LOTG. You’ve seen the movie, now live the game!
Legend of the Guardians: The Videogame
And for Xbox 360 owners, here’s the Trophy List.
I want to get the ‘O Rly’ award!
I actually got pretty far in Spirit Tracks before getting stuck; the Spirit Flute seems to work pretty well for me, but it’s harder on other DS’s. Nintendo probably should’ve simplified it a bit.
I remember drawing a Triforce on the temple door in Phantom Hourglass taking me AGES. Heck, I don’t even know if I ever got it right. Uhh, make sure the bottom points meet the corners, I guess?
I love the Halo: Reach trailer, it looks quite epic. I’m not a Halo fan myself, but my friends are very excited over the release of Reach.
So, following the advice of lizardgirl, I recently bought Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for my 360. As soon as I started playing it, I noticed striking similarities between it, and one of my favorite games of all time, Fallout 3. The graphics, the character creation, the combat… Eventually I realized that it was developed by Bethesda, the same geniuses behind the Fallout games! Now I’m really glad I bought it. I just hope I can finish it before Fallout: New Vegas is released in October
Some other games I’m looking forward to: Portal 2, Infamous 2, Half Life 2: Episode 3, Pokemon Black/White and Fable 3.
Yay, glad that you followed my advice, Evil_Genius! And yes, Bethesda is amazing. Very clever bunch of people. Apparently there’s another Elder Scrolls coming out sometime next year, which I just can’t wait for!
Hi timmay2010, welcome to the forums. Um, guess you could find it at a Best Buy, Walmart, Target or a other store. you could find it on Amazon.com proberlly.
So… I just figured out the awesomeness that is Professor Layton a week ago. It makes me kinda upset that I don’t have a DS - they have a new game that just recently came out for that series and it looks like it’s going to be pretty good.
So, I think I just might save up some money for a DS… maybe. I want to get the Diabolical Box and possibly the Unwound Future.
… I honestly don’t know why I love it so much - it’s basically a puzzle-solving game of intense frustration and yet I have so much fun playing it. I have a weird taste in video games.
