Video Games

I don’t think I’m gonna pick up Sims 3. I played Sims 2 with my friend and we got bored. I’ve never really been a fan of simulation games aside from Animal Crossing and Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Anyway, I picked up The Conduit (first person shooter for Wii) and I thought it’s really good so far. The graphics look like a 360 game and even the 12 player online never lags.

I was playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl with my cousin. We were doing the adventure mode, and I was kinda disappointed. Seemed like a really bad rip-off of Kingdom Hearts. Some of the character meetings seem too deux ex machina, and there wasn’t even any dialogue. And that maze at the ending was annoying.

Good fighting game. Bad RP game.

Today I bought Burnout 3 from my little brother for $10 and its probably the best racing game I’ve ever played. Today alone I played it for about 3 and a half hours.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite ha finally been released outside of Japan.

Damn but this game is addictive, I’ve had it for around 2 and a half weeks and played it for 50 hours…

I’ve got a couple of friends that are into Monster Hunter. I’ve never really played it before, but I’m a huge fan of RPG’s, should I check this out? And I’m really thinking about starting a new FFIX file, it’s my 2nd fave FF game btw. Vivi ftw.

I’ve been playing a bit of Ratchet and Clank : Going Commando. Great series, and the 2nd is pretty fun. Up Your Arsenal is better, but it’s always good to revisit older games, and it stands on its own quite well. I’ve got a pretty sick file on both, I just recently started a new one on Going Commando.

What are your favorite game series’?

Mine are:
Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy, Metroid (ESPECIALLY Prime), Banjo Kazooie (excluding Nuts and Bolts), Disgaea (great great game, 2nd is my fave), DDR (is hardcore DDR player), Pokemon, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Tales, and God of War.

Yeah, it’s a lot, but I have SOOOO many games, you can’t even comprehend,…

Also, when Tales of Symphonia first came out, I clocked in over 48 hours on it in 3 DAYS. that’s 16 hours a day people, I was HOOKED.

I’m getting Halo 3 this week!

annarborjack, you won’t be dissapointed. Halo 3 is a great game. Probably one of the best for the Xbox (If your playing with an Xbox).

ffdude1906; If you have a PSP then I seriously can’t recommend Monster Hunter enough.

The only game I had in my PSP since February 2008 was Monster Hunter Freedom 2, it is so addictive that I didn’t even buy any other PSP games that year, I was still playing Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is pretty similar to Monster Hunter Freedom 2 but it improves on every aspect of the game, deepening every facet.

The only thing I can say against it is that it can be very difficult and it has an extreme learning curve, but if you can get through the first 5 or so hours playing it you’ll be hooked.

I also love Ratchet and Clank, one of my favourite game series, with just the right mix of sci-fi and humour. Metroid is also a brilliant franchise, have you seen the trailer for the new Metroid by Team Ninja? Looks awesome.

Other M? Yeah, it looks really cool. I am a bit concerned with a third party company working on a first party title (although, I’m sure it won’t be worse than Echoes, that’d be a bit much, MP1 FTW!), but the game footage I saw looks pretty awesome. It looks like it’s gonna mix Prime’s controls with sidescrolling, which should be great if done well. Samus talking is a bit,… odd, but I’m still keeping my mind open towards the idea. I just hope Team Ninja doesn’t do something stupid and DOA-esque in the game. That would kill it for me.

I’ll have to check out MH, sounds like a solid RPG, I’ve been kinda looking for one lately to pass the time. I was playing Etrian Odyssey, but I’m at the end, and it’s SO HARD, and I’m basically just grinding for the last boss (which is grueling at max levels, the whole game is BRUTAL, but very rewarding). Kinda wears me out.

What other RPG’s do you play (points at Baltheir :stuck_out_tongue: )? I love FF, obviously, IX, X, and VII being my faves. I was gonna play through IX starting tonight, but my ps2 stopped reading the disc and I lost about an hour, maybe later. SO3 was pretty awesome, need to get into 2nd Evo, and wanna play SO4. KH, of course, is awesome. There’s also this really neat little Atlus GBA RPG called Shining Soul 2, it’s basically a friendlier version of Diablo, and it’s really addicting. It’s also pretty long, but you have to replay dungeons CONSTANTLY. You do get used to it though, it’s pretty engaging, I have a lvl 97 Brawler, and lvl 113 Dark Wizard, as well as some other awesome characters.

Bah, I can ramble about RPG’s all day long, better stop now!

Looks like I’ve stumbled upon a RPG discussion, so it seems.

I guess if I were to cut in on this, my favorite RPG’s would be: The 2nd set of Pokemon games; the Gold and Silver versions, Shining Force 1, and Shining Force 2, and a friend gave me a Digimon game for the DS. Free is free, as they say.

However, I also have Suikoden, and Legend of Dragoon, apparently the latter is becoming a rare gem these days. It’s my favorite by far.

LoD is pretty awesome, I have it. I haven’t played that in a long time. The addition system was pretty cool, and it had a cheezy awesome story.

I love the Pokemon series, and actually have played every generation EXCEPT second gen. I’ve heard that its the best almost universally. I cant wait for Heart Gold and Soul Silver for DS! (By the way, Cubone is my favorite pokemon, if you couldn’t guess  )

Yeah, I love FF but XII is my favourite, I love how the battle system no longer works on those irritating random encounters.

Pokémon was another favourite series of mine but I haven’t played it in a while, maybe when the gold/silver remake comes out…

I really like FF tactics too, that’s a fun game.

I’m also looking forward to the remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver. Those, along with Crystal, were my favorites and I still have them. Unfortunately a few years ago my mother gave my oldest brother my GBC (without asking me) and I’m afraid that unemployed idiot did the same thing to my GBC he did to his PS2 —> selling it.

XII was pretty amazing, but the story didn’t get me as much as IX’s and X’s. I love the battle system in it, I was afraid it was gonna feel to shallow after playing the demo, but it works wonderfully. I haven’t beaten it yet, I still have to kill the Seer, and then tackle ol’ Yiazmat, Omega, and Ultima. I beat Zodiark, but I have no idea how, and I’ve done all the other espers as well. I’m also right at the end, haven’t boarded the Bahamut yet, but I want to finish all the sidequests first! There’s a lot to do in that game. I need to pick it back up and finish it one of these days.

Hah, you did the same thing I did, get to the end and then go back and do all the side quests. I think I actually like XII story best, I like the fact that instead of being a love/friendship story it’s a political tale, it’s an interesting approach.

The landscapes are very pretty too, it’s a shame I don’t have a PS3/360 so I can’t play XIII, but never mind VII has just come to PSP so I’m hoping they’ll release the others on there too…

VII is coming to PSP? I might have to download that, though it probably won’t be the same on a small screen.

Well, they just released it a few weeks ago on the PSN store for PS3, I think you can put it on PSP. That’d be neat, but it’d take a ton of room I’m sure.

Got Monster Hunter earlier this week, and it’s been pretty nice. Havent really played all that much of it though, only about 5:30 so far, I just cant really sit down and play a PSP game for a long time, not sure why.

Might end up running through Metroid Prime later tonight, it’d be something to do.

Trust me, when you get far enough into MH you won’t be able to put it down, I got Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the 26th of June and I’ve been playing it pretty much non-stop but I’m still nowhere near finished with it.

I’ve also discovered that it’s much more fun with more than one person, my brother just got his PSP fixed so I’ve been playing with him, if you can blag someone into buying a copy I’d recommend it, the multiplayer really makes the game.

I actually have 2 friends with it that I plan on playing it with once school starts, because they live in the dorms during school. Otherwise, they’re about 40 miles away. I think it’s gonna be pretty sweet. I should have Dissidia by then as well, I’m pretty eager for that.

I just got finished doing a runthrough of Metroid Prime (the original), kinda a speedrun, but not a great one. I managed to beat it in 3:22. That’s actually my 2nd fastest, behind a 2:58 run I pulled off early this summer. I didnt do any saves on this run though, (there was an accidental one about halfway through, I just wanted to heal on the save, not actually save).

It got really close about an hour in, I almost died in Magmoor Caverns, ended up with 01 health, scary! I would have been pretty upset to have lost an hour of game. I had an unitentional route change as well, right around getting the x-ray visor/plasma beam, getting from one to the other is really frustrating, and I havent really discovered a quick way to do it. I had a fairly straightforward method, but this run, I think I lost like 4-5 minute doing what I did, kinda made me upset. Oh well, I wanted to get under 3:30, and I did

If anyone actually read that, or even knows about what I’m talking about, kudos, I feel like I’m just droning on,…

That’s cool that it’s available for both. I doubt I’ll download it for PSP, since my copy of FFVII still works great. I really wish they would release Marvel vs Capcom 2 as a download of PSP. I love that game, but as my only current gen system is a Wii, I won’t be able to get the download, and I’m not shelling out $80 for the PS2 copy. Ah, well, yet another reason for me to just crack down and get a PS3.
