Are there any Disney villains your supposed to hate but you can’t help love? Though I already know for a couple of you coughLizardgirlandFONY=Randellcough. My order is not specific.
Ursella, especially as Vanessa: I love her voice and her song, and her sinisterness of her appearance is awesome. Her look as Vanessa inspired one of my 2D Disney movie ideas if I ever become a director.
Shenzei: She’s pure attitude, and I like how she’s the intelligent female among less-intelligent (or dumb, in Ed’s case) males. She also the dominate female, like real hyaenas. I love her voice, it sounds sassy and just a bit tomboyish, just like her.
Yeah, plenty! Aside from the obvious choice, I’d have to list Hades- what a sex god. Seriously. He is SO funny, and just the way he acts means that he’s automatically cooler than pretty much anyone else in the film. Also, he’s voiced by James Woods, which just completes the package. I just love a guy with fire for hair.
Jafar, as well. He’s more the traditional villain, but let’s just say that if I were Jasmine, I wouldn’t have spat that apple in his face!
To be honest, I love most villains, including Pixar’s Hopper and Syndrome. The really traditional villains can sometimes be annoying, (‘oh, look! I’m going to try and hurt the ‘good guys’ just because they annoy me sometimes! I have a flimsy motivation and I will therefore spend the rest of my life plotting revenge!’) but any villain with so much as a whiff of a backstory gets my attention.
The more believable the villain, the more likeable they are.
There are two ways to approach this question. One of “Love because they are so adorable” and the other is “Love to hate”. I plan to answer it using both.
Villains I find adorable would include Chick Hicks because he is so funny, even though he cheats (who doesn’t in life anyways?) I also like Gaston (ladies know why and I find it funny), Jafar (he’s got the best villain song), Scar (he looks too cute) and probably Skinner from Ratatouille.
Villaind I love to hate include Frollo, Al (from Toy Story 2), Hopper, anf the White Witch from Narnia.
I think only one villain in the DIsney World fits on both lists for me and that would be Syndrome. He is just so funny, and so adorable, but the dispicable things he does makes me want to tear his hear out.
Pixar.rocks- Yeah, but with Syndrome we actually get an idea of his backstory- we see what turns him into what he is (as well as the rich parents who ignore him thing). In Hopper’s case, he just seems to be a bit of a control freak. The only thing that we really get to see of his and his brother’s past is when he says, “If I hadn’t promised mother on her deathbed that I wouldn’t kill you, I’d kill you” (or something to that effect). I don’t know why, but after hearing that, it always seemed to me that Molt was the favoured son of the two.
Then again, I might just be thinking too much into things.
TSS- I forgot about Scar! He’s awesome! Especially since my friends all decided that he, er, bats for the other side, so to speak. It makes him even cuter!
Oogie Boogie - how often do you see an evil bug-filled potato-bag?
The Evil Queen from Snow White - she wants to kill her stepdaughter just because she is more beautiful. Talk about vanity
Scar - to kill his own brother and nephew. That is evil
Maleficent - she is so cool her evil look and the ability to change into a dragon. I wouldn’t like to fight… wait a minute… I fought her in Kingdom Hearts XD
Hades - he is so hot and he makes me laugh
Jafar - so smoothie, so snakey, so evil, so cool
Yeah totally forgot Scar ! The thing with scar is that he’s handsome ( in a lioness way ) i mean he takes care of his look and stuff, and he’s got an English accent which gos perfectly with his personality !
Most villains (particularly animated ones) I find to be more intriguing and humorous than anything. Some of my top favorites are Captain Hook, Hades, and Cruella de Vil. The more self-absorbed, clumsy, and comical the villain the better. Serious, down-to-earth, and monotonous bad guys just bore me.
One character that most people consider to be a “villain”, but whom I just find to be a victim of harsh circumstances, is Kaa from Disney’s The Jungle Book. Don’t know why, but I find him to be absolutely charming above all else. Poor guy’s just trying to nab a meal and instead he’s reduced to torture. Heheh. Really though, I love him to bits. blushes
I mentioned Frollo. He is one of the villains that I love to hate. And Frollo intrests me. I believe that villain is one of the better ways to introduce prejudice and discrimination to young people.
Frollo’s the horrible guy from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? What a villain. I love that song that he sings in front of the fire- it’s so full of passion, tension and jealousy. It’s why I prefer the old Disney movies, as they weren’t afraid of showing kids how evil real humans can be.
It’s why i also quite like the two villains from Antz. I forget their names, but the lead ant guy who wants to ‘cleanse’ the ant colony, and his right hand man, (or rather, ant) voiced by Christopher Walken, I find to be quite believable. Very Hitler-like, and therefore quite scary.
I agree, these days villains aren’t even aloud to say kill! People get offended to easily, I mean, I grew up on villains like Scar, Maleficent, and Zira and I turned out just fine! It’s not like kids are gonna imitate the villain!
Well I’m gonna stick to just the Disney ones and leave the Pixar ones out of it for right now. That being said, I do like Ursula and Scar. (actually I think Ursula as Vanessa and Jafar could have totally gotten together. They’re so similar in their personalities!) But my favorites would have to be Jafar and Hades. They’re both so cool! Jafar being the complete antithesis of Iago and Hades because I find him funny. My fav kind of villain is one that can be funny AND smart. Funny and dumb doesnt cut it for me. I cant stand a dumb villain, plus that’s kind of a cop-out story-wise. I mean, of course then the hero would be able to beat him! I like my villains cunning and not totally serious. They need to be happy at least some of the time.
I cannot help but love Syndrome. He’s not only my favorite Pixar antagonist, but my favorite Pixar character in general.
Syn and I have stuff in common, such as being rejected by another person we liked and we are both creative in our own way. ( Cool gadgets is what he has, and I write, act, and draw. )
Then my favorite “villain” would be Dr. Reginal Bushroot form Darkwing Duck, mostly that he’s not a villain in traditional sense. When we’re first introduced to him on the show, we see him as an outcast who unwillingly hurts others, but a lot of the time, it’s because everyone is being a jerk or that he’s lonely. Most of the the other villains on the show are shown as maniacs or whatever (but COOL maniacs) and their back stories aren’t brought up too often.
But I guess I always love the shy guys. Reggie doesn’t even sound like a bad person. He’s a plant lover (so much that he accidentally turned himself into one), he stutters sometimes, and the writers always write in a reference that he’s not truly evil, just misunderstood.
If I had to choose a favorite movie villain…now I would choose Oogie Boogie since his singing is awesome and his character design is unique.
