Violet Parr

Violet Parr is one of my most favorite characters of all time. I love her so much for many reasons. I would love to know why do you all love her? What is it about her that makes her so intresting and loveable at the same time?

I love her because she’s authentic, and goes through the same problems that most teenagers like me go through - even thought she’s a super. Her powerS also have to be one of the best. I love the force field thing! :stuck_out_tongue:

Another thing is her powers reflect what she’s going through. She stays hidden and is insecure , so the invisibility and force field powers reflect that. That’s what most teenagers go through anyway, so most of us can identify with that.

That is why Brad Bird gave her those powers. Don’t you guys think that out of all of the characters, she went throught the most dramatic change?

she did go though the most dramatic change Vi reminds me soo much of myself!

Violet, however, is probably the most overlooked character in all of the Incredibles.

Do you think that Violet deserves more sceentime in the movie? I mean, she is a favorite character. People love her as much as the other Incredibles. She has the potential and the character to do so. Even though she is the most difficult character, i don’t think that means you should neglect her.

WHat do you think?

I think she got a fair amount of screen time, but I would like to see her some more of her in the sequel (if made).

haha is there anny rumors of a sequel? I’d love one

If Violet would e in a sequel, I would hope she would get more screentime.

I also would like to see her powers used as a offensive force as well as defensive purposes.

Well, there have been. Mainly the buzz has been created by wishful fans (including me). Brad Bird said that he would love to do a sequel - but wouldn’t make one “just to make a sequel”.

Back on topic, what is your favorite thing Violet said?

Well GD, there is so much. I loved everything she said. even the most trival stuff.

I still have to compose my post here on Vi, but to answer you question Gasduude
Well, I have to again with TSS first off. Every little sound byte brings me joy.
But on a less general note, I’d have to say my absolute favorite is her dinner table quote: “We act normal, mom, I wanna be normal!”
My favorite out-of-movie quote would have to be her lengthy spiel
to Helen about why her life sucks so hard. It made me laugh for soooo long after I heard it. Does any one happen to have the exact transcript of the conversation? I can’t even remember where it was on the bonus disc.
Anyways <3 Vi.

Are you talking about Violet talking on Vowellet? It goes like this.

Helen: Don’t be silly. You’re beautiful.
Violet: I’m gangly.
Helen: You’re growing.
Violet I’m gangly and I’m growing ganglier. I’m ugly, I have no curves, my friends are dorkier than I am, I can’t talk, but my brain won’t shut up!

TSS: Aye, that’s the one! Man, I’d give up my collection of incredi-stickers to see that fully animated.

Me too. THere are many scenes that I wish I could see fully animated as well. This happens to be one of them.

This one always sounded (dare I say it?) dorky to me…

“The remote controls the robot!” - Vi

I don’t know, maybe it’s just to high pitched, but it just freaks me out every time I hear it…:stuck_out_tongue:

LOL YES!!!

I think that’s what I like to call an “Artistic Sacrifice To Inform The Stupid” (ASTITS) on the part of Brad Bird.

It’s something that is really obvious to anybody who’s actually been paying attention to the film that the kids realise the robot is controlled by the remote because they see their dad opperate it. But - there are those idiots out there who have the fact they are watching him go right over their heads and thus must be informed by it. Therefor, for their benefit, Brad sacrifices the artistic flow of the film for a Thank You Captain Obvious moment.

Well, I think people found it funny because not only, as Dash stated as a “Captain Obvious” moment, but the film viewers have always heard VIolet as a low, gloomy voiced person. I think to hear her so high pitched to the point where she almost cracked was an unexpected funny.

Gasduude - Haha! Yeah, I agree. When I first heard her say that I was all, “Well, duh!”

I like Dash’s explaination on the “Captain Obvious” subject, though. Heheh…
