Violet's art work

Thank you guys so much  ! Really, this means a lot to me. I’m really happy and blessed to have such great reviewers, not to mention friends  ! Thank you all. I really, really appreciate it  . I’ll update again soon. Thanks again for everything, guys  ! God bless!

What do you plan on posting next Violet?

I have no idea :unamused: ! It depends. I gotta go now, though. My family’s waiting for me. See you guys later  !

OK, in honor of 9/11 I’ve decided to post a picture I finished on 9/11 last year. This is just my way of saying, God Bless all the people that died that day. And thank you to all the people on the third plane who kept the terrorists from completing their mission. This is for you.

I had to up the color a little on the computer because we had to take a picture of it 'cause it was too big for the scanner, and the color came out kinda crappy.

Anyway, hope you guys like it  !

It’s the anniversary of 9/11, and we will never forget!

First of all, a big thank you and prayer to all who were impacted by 9/11

Second, this is a really well done picture Violet Parr. Kinda cool to see Tony and Violet (Incredigirl or Invisigirl) meeting each other. Both Tony and Violet were drawn to perfection. The background looks pretty too. Finally, the coloring is probably the strongest aspect of this picture. You really deserve two thumbs up for this picture.

Just curious, were you watching Violet talking to Tony at the track meet when you drew this piece? It looks the same, just a different outfit for VIolet.

One more question. Is there a story behind this picutre? What inspired you to draw this masterpiece? When I saw it, I was reminded of the last chapter of my Incredibles: Syndrome’s Return story, you know, when Tony asks for Invisigirl’s autograph and picture before they kiss.

Vi - 2 thumbs up! Lovin’ your work. You really do have a knack for colored pencils.

Hmm… this particular piece got me a little confused, Violet… I hope you don’t take offense…

Firstly, what’s with the cop cars in the background? Especially, the one half-buried in the field in the background (It looks like that to me, I could be mistaken).

Secondly, if I wasn’t informed about it, I wouldn’t have guessed it was a piece about 9/11. I thought maybe a picture of Violet looking mournful at the (now repaved) site of the towers would be more obvious (like this sad Superman interpretation), but at first glance, I couldn’t tell the theme of the picture.

Thirdly, what does her relationship with Tony have to do with the tragedy? Again, I would have thought of it as a romantic pic instead of a morose piece on the terrible event in world history.

I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, I didn’t mean it that way! :frowning: But I like to be frank with my opinions, and this, like I’ve said, is a bit unclear to me, and I need a little explanation. Maybe you were not trying to make it too explicit or clear to the viewer (I’m just saying, I may be misinterpreting your intentions)…

On the good side though, the colouring and shading is great as usual! And if I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought it a very romantic and sweet pic of Tony and Violet… maybe you were trying to be restrained, but you can create a powerful picture without offending anyone (again, the Superman pic). Maybe one of VIolet and Tony hugging at the rubble with firemen and policemen in the background, or if that’s too sensitive, maybe at the World Trade Centre Memorial…

Again, I mean this as constructive criticism, and your pic would’ve made a lovely romantic piece if I didn’t know you intended it to be a tribute to 9/11, but in this case, ignorance is bliss. It’s not so much the content, I totally understand you were trying to portray the heroes in one of the nation’s darkest times, but the fact that the theme behind your pic was not made obvious in your depiction.

The Star Swordsman, Phileas, and thedriveintheatre- Thank you all for your comments  . And, I know I might have made this a little confusing, so I’ll clear up any questions you might have…

First off, when I was drawing the pic, I didn’t initially intend it to be a tribute to 9/11. So it wasn’t at the scene or anything. And The Incredibles takes place in the 70’s anyway. So that would’ve been impossible (I like to keep my time lines correct). The only reason I did this as a tribute is that I finished it on 9/11. Other than that, nothing what-so-ever to do with 9/11. But I do understand what you mean, TDIT. You were not being rude at all. I’m all for constructive criticism. Maybe I should’ve made it more clear. But if I confused anyone else with this pic, I’m sorry. And I’d be happy to answer any questions.

To answer your questions, TSS, yes I was watching the Violet/Tony scene while I drew this. And, yes, there is a story behind this. This should answer any other questions anybody has (This is all still very rough, so bear with me here.)…

So Violet and Tony were on a date. This was the first time in a while they’d been out together without being interrupted by a mission (at the time Tony didn’t know Violet was a super). Violet and Tony had been having some trouble because of Violet’s constant bailing. But, once again, Violet is called upon by her parents to save the city. So something happens where Violet and Tony are out on their date. (Which explains the cop cars in the background. They had to rush to the scene but were ineffective, and the one fell in a ditch.) And Vi has to slip away to get into her super suit and emerges as Violet Incredible. So as she’s fighting (who knows what?), Tony gets in trouble, so she needs to step in and save him. She takes him aside, and takes off her mask; she starts to explain (in very short terms) what’s been going on and why she’s had to leave all those times. So she goes back to fighting, and when everything has been taken care of, she meets up with Tony. She talks with him for a while, explaining further, “Tony, I’m sorry about all of this. I-- I just… I was gonna tell you… I was gonna tell you today. But, then this happened, and, well… I’m sorry. You have every right to leave me now. I mean, you saw what happened. Everyone I love is just as much a target as me. And I don’t want you to be in any danger. I just… sigh I Just wanted you to know I wasn’t trying to be a jerk or anything. Tony, I…”

But he stops her, “Violet,” he leans in, kind of surprising her. He then kisses her right on the lips. Until then the closest they’d come to a real kiss was a peck on the cheek. But now they kissed, for real. When they separated, he finished what he was trying to say, “now why would I want to leave someone who loves me so much they’d let me go for my own safety?” She smiles. No boy had ever treated her that nicely. She jumped up and hugged him.

So, in shorter terms, that is how Tony finds out Violet’s a super hero.

I hope that answers all your questions  ! The picture is really about Violet and Tony. It really has nothing to do with 9/11, other than the fact that that’s the day I finished it. And, for further explanation of the cop car, if you took notice, in The Incredibles, there’s a pond in the middle of town. But with the angle, you can’t see the water. So it looks like the car was buried, but it just fell in a ditch. If you are still confused, let me know, and I’ll try to explain better. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Your hair colouring is perfect, possibly the best non-professional hair I’ve seen in a long time.

Similarly your character shape and pose is good, certaintly no fault there.

The only problems I can find is that in large flat areas of one colour you pencil strokes are clearly visible, of course it may just be a fault with the scanner, I’m not really sure how you’d go about remedying that though and to be honest it’s one of the reasons i gave up with coloured pictures a while ago.

Secondly is the background, don’t get me wrong it’s perfectly sevicable, especially as the foreground characters are the emphasis anyway, but some of the perspective seem a little skewed, as if the buildings are flat to the paper rather than flat to the environment. Next time you do a background I’d recommend ruling in some perspective construction lines first, maybe do a few pieces where buildings are the focus?

Apart from that it’s a very good piece, very impressive.

You are really talented at drawing Violet, let me say. The expression on her face is great, showing how happy she feels that Tony understands. And great story to go along with it as well! Yeah, the way the coloring came out isn’t the best, to be honest, but considering it’s done with colored pencils for a picture too big for the scanner, I can understand why, so that’s fine. I do have to agree with TDIT that I would’ve prefered something more sacrificial depicted as a tribute to 9/11, though. Nonetheless, it is a rather nice picture!

That was a pretty beautiful story Violet Parr. It is different from how I would see Vi and Tony meeting up. But still, it was pretty powerful. I love the dialogue between them, especially the part after Tony kissed Vi. You should be proud Violet Parr.

Ohhh… okay, that explains a lot, Violet! Heh, I was confundled a bit there… I thought they buried the cop car Cadillac Ranch-style!

But yeah, it’s a great romantic piece. Love the revelation backstory, would make a great scene if it was indeed in a sequel. Like BDD, it would’ve been more interesting and daring if you had done an actual 9/11 tribute piece, but I understand you either had time constraints (since the fact you finished the piece on the date was an accidental coincidence), or the subject matter would be too sensitive. But nevertheless, it’s good as it is for a warm and fuzzy artwork.

Halos Nach Tariff- Thanks  ! Oh, and about your critiques of the background, I completely see where you’re coming from. I’m not the best with backgrounds. I’m better with living things. The sad part is, I did sketch in marks for the buildings before I drew them. But, you’re right, I should try to do some drawings of buildings and such. I really need to improve in that area. Thank you  ! I’m always up for some constructive criticism.

bright dot-dasher- Thank you  ! I really appreciate it! I know the color ain’t the best, but it was 75% the cameras fault (but maybe about 25% my fault). And, next time I intend to do a tribute of some sort, I’ll try to make sure that it actually has somthing to do with what I’m trying to honor. . And I’m glad you like the story. I’ve been working on that since I saw The Incredibles  . Thanks for the comment!

The Star Swordsman- Thanks, TSS  ! I think the dialog was me favorite part, actually. I’m so glad you liked it! Thank you  !

thedriveintheatre- I’m glad I cleared everything up  . Hopefully, one day a fanfic will spring from it, but so far, it’s just that scene and a bunch of other assorted ideas. And, as I told BDD, next time, before I do a tribute, I’ll try to make sure it actually has somthing to do with what I’m trying to honor. But I’ve written a fan fiction with extremely sensitive content, so I’m not really worried about the sensitivity of it. It really was just because I finished it on that day. Thanks you, though. I’ll remember next time  . Thanks  !

What have you got planned for your next masterpiece Violet Parr?

Hmmm… I’ve been working on a surprise for all of you  . But the key word in there is “surprise.” I’m not gonna tell you til it’s finished.

Sounds good to me! I can’t wait to see it.

Trust me, you are gonna freak when you see this  !

Man, your stuff is getting so good! Love your compositions on the last few illustrative posts. Keep it up!

~Haunt~

Thanks, Haunt  ! I’m glad to read you reviews again  .

OK, I just wanted to apologize for not being consistent on the forums recently. Things have just been a little hectic lately. And our Internet connection was cut off for an unknown reason yesterday, so I couldn’t even get on. Anyway, The pic I was talking about is almost done. When I post it you’ll understand what took me so long.

Sneak Peak: It’s the first picture I’ve ever colored in on the computer. And you guys have already seen the original  .

Hey, guys  ! Sorry for the long absence. I’ve been really busy lately. But, enough of my procrastinating. I’ve finnaly finished the picture I was telling you all about! Now, keep in mind, this was my first piece I ever colored on the computer. So, without further adue, my first digitally colored piece  !

I colored the concept art I did for TSS’s fanfic-- Syndrome’s Return. I figured it would be a good starting piece. I think it turned out pretty good, but I’d really like to hear what you think  .

Also, here’s one I did a little while ago.

Another one with the same concept of the other one I did of Violet and her parents on the sofa together. I really enjoyed drawing this one simply because it’s a Father/Daughter pic of Violet and her Dad.

And, I figure, since it’s been so long since I last updated, I’d give you one more picture  .

This one, no lie, came to me in a dream. I had a dream about a The Incredibles comic. It has a whole story behind it and everything. And this image of Violet using her forcefield really stuck with me. I’ll admit, it looked better in the dream, but I still think it turned out pretty good. I’ve just gotta work on getting the idea from my head to the paper  . But, there it is, a small look into my incredibly complex, always running mind  .

Anyway, hope you guys like it  ! As usual, comments and constructive criticism are welcome. God willing, I’ll update again soon. I’ve got a picture coming up of Violet in her room. I’m sure you’ll love it  .
