Fabulous job on your first ever digitally colored piece! It’s so smoothly colored in and brings out the action in the moment of the illustration. I like the second picture you drew, for the story of Bob staying behind to take care of Vi when she was ill…not only did you draw the characters well (as you always do), but I like how you mastered the expessions…Bob’s kind, caring look and Vi looking up at him. Good job drawing her to look ill (I’m not really sure how to say it, but I think you’ll get what I mean). The paleness and wrinkles under eyes are good touches to that. And, the last piece. That looks cool! I like Violet’s face of concentration there, like “I gotta get this move right”. The angles and everything makes it looks graceful. Well done. Looks like some of Elastigirl’s flexibility genes trickled down, huh?
Are you sure that your first digitally colored piece?? It looks really great! The coloring is handled really nicely. I hope to see more digital pieces from you.
I like your other drawings too. Your poses are always really strong and dynamic. And the expressions are wonderful. They really convey the feelings you are trying to get across in each piece.
Keep it up!
Violet Parr: Your artwork always makes me smile. I love that you decided to do a digital colored version of my fanfic. It was such a pleasure to see again. It looks really intense and it felt like it came right from a movie. It looks really well done.
The second one was very sweet. To me, I thought that Violet was sick and Bob was checking on her. It is a simple action, but it brings out a lot of emotion.
The third one looks cool as well, but awkward. it looks like Violet is trying to do the splits with the help with her force field. But she looks really beautifully drawn. keep it up.
I can’t wait to see more from you.
Your digitally-coloured is absolutely fantastic! You are such a natural artist Ah, the dream one looks quite unique. I would have never imagined Violet doing that… maybe she’s getting aome influence rubbed off from Elastigirl’s flexibility?
Again, well done! I can’t wait to see more work. As always, I appreciate it
Wow, you’ve really come a long way in terms of being an artist. It’s very inspiring to see fellow PP members get better at their work… I’ve gotta up the ante too!
No, but seriously, though, your first digital art piece is impressive! I really love the shading on Violet and Syndrome, they look like they’re straight from a comic-book! Nice job on the sky and zero-point energy beam. Only honest criticism I would give is that the trees could do with more detailed shading, but as it is, it’s truly good for a first-time effort, and you can only get better from here!
Like the others have been saying, you have a talent at portraying emotions, and it shows in your second piece. Very sweet vignette of Violet and Bob’s father-daughter relationship, and quite touching too, I may add.
And the third one… holy cow, it’s breathtaking! Mid-air splits! You’re really good with markers, truly spectacular! Well, I have no qualms with this one, very dynamic pose and wicked shading!
bright dot-dasher- Thanks, BDD ! I’m glad I got the expressions right. That’s one of my favorite things to do in a picture, yet at the same time it’s one of the most challenging. Believe it or not, I actually wasn’t going for the expression that Violet ended up with in the second picture. I was even surprised at that ! And, I think you might be right about Helen’s elasticity genes trickling down . Thanks!
Hannahmation- Thanks ! I’m glad you liked them! And, don’t worry, you will be seeing more digitally colored pieces . If you took notice, I’ve already started to color the one of Violet doing a split. Thanks again!
The Star Swordsman- Thanks ! I just hope the first piece did your fanfic justice. And I’m glad that I was able to get exactly what I was thinking across for the second one. Expressions seem to be becoming easier for me. And I see how the third one could look awkward. Thank you for pointing that out. It’s only how I imagined it, it’s not perfect. Hopefully, it’ll look better when I digitally color it, and put in the force field. Hopefully, after I finish my piece for the Art Jams, I’ll complete and post the picture of Violet in her room. Thanks, TSS !
Phileas- Thanks! I’m glad you liked them! And, I wouldn’t be surprised if Violet DID get some of her mom’s elasticity .Thank you so much for your comments. Always appreciated .
thedriveintheatre- Thanks, TDIT ! I always appreciate your constructive criticism . I’m glad you liked the first one. And about the trees, I see were you’re coming from. As I’ve said before,I’m not very good with backgrounds. But I also thought, if I put in too much detail, it would get overwhelming and distract you from the characters, which are the main focus. But I know what you mean. Thanks for the criticism . And thanks for the compliments on the other two. I had a feeling you’d like the vigorous look of the third one . Thank you so much !
I can’t wait for your next piece of work Violet Parr.
Thanks, TSS ! Hopefully, I’ll update again soon. Thanks again !
I can’t wait for it for it Violet.
Actually TSS, you won’t have to wait too long . Because here’s my next update !
Okay, so maybe it’s not the picture I said I’d finish first, but I just got this idea and had to draw it before I lost incentive. Oh, I’m so bad at keeping priorities… Anyway, This is just a little character study of our favorite teen hero .
So, yeah, I was totally procrastinating again, but this time it had a fairly good outcome. Apparently, Vi’s very ticked off at someone. This was totally off the top of my head, so it’s very, very rough. The idea is that Violet got into a fight with a rival super (though the guy in the doodle below is in regular cloths; I hadn’t thought of the Super-on-Super concept til later). To get an idea of how rough this idea really is, I’ll give you the original doodle…
I owe a part of the thanks for the inspiration to Haunt. I was looking at her art when I suddenly got an idea for a mud-sketch. Which is pretty awesome considering every other time I’ve tried to do a mud-sketch, it turns out crappy. I think I finnaly got the hang of it, though. BTW, if anyone has trouble figuring out the little action drawings in the small original doodle, in the one, she has him by the neck, and in the second, he’s pinning her down and she’s trying to push him off with her foot. Sorry, I know it’s a little rough and scribbly. Oh,and yes, Violet’s dripping wet in the image on top. I was thinking what started the fight could’ve been that, he punched her in the face (explaining the bruise on her cheek), and she fell backwards into a puddle.
Thanks for everything guys ! Let me know what you think!
da;fhawegnbagfa!
Well I’ve gone and spilled coffee (which is in my Incredibles mug) all over my desk reacting to this stuff. Seriously, I need to go get a napkin or something ^^;
Man, I love the stuff that been coming from your side of the screen. These recent sketches are awesome. But the stuff before it, the colored stuff…man oh man! I love that stuff! Especially the digital ones. You’ve got strong poses and backgrounds and compositions. It’s all great. Keep going!
shakes fist I inspired you?! You’ve got it turned around! You inspire me! You’ve been posting so steadily and every time it gets better and better. And every time I see it I want to bust open photoshop and doodle Violets to my heart’s content but then my school work smacks the back of my head and drags me back to the table. To be honest I’m a little jealous of your drive to produce all this work. You’re a credit to this art community, that you are.
Oh, and Go Vi! I hope she totally wrecks that guy.
I agree with Haunt, you’ve got some serious talent. You’re drawing out comic-quality art really fast, and it’s really great work. I wish I was at that level at the moment, every piece I work on takes ages to finish (I still need to finish Bryko’s commission, it’s taking me entirely too long). Keep it up, great work!
Dude Violet, I think I have never in my entire life been so excited to see this artwork! I love it. It looks absolutely amazing. You are great with action/fight scenes and with emotion too. Very nice. I love it. I can’t wait to see the finished project, and more to this if this is just a start to it.
Haunt- Aww, thanks so much, Haunt . You have no idea how much it means to me to be encouraged like that. I am so glad to have such a talented artist’s opinion of my art (and I’m not just buttering you up so I get good reviews, I mean it). And I did wanna at least give you some of the credit for the inspiration. So, thanks.
I’m glad you liked my first digitally colored piece. I couldn’t believe that it takes so freaking long, though! Oh, and by the way, I think Violet’s already kicking the guy from the doodle’s butt . Thanks, Haunt!
ffdude1906- Thanks so much . Normally it takes me a bit longer to finish a picture, but when it hits me fast it usually gets done faster. And, don’t worry, it’ll all come with practice . When I first started, it would take me days to finish one picture, and it wouldn’t even turn out as good. It takes a while to get fast at it, you just gotta keep at it, you’ll get there . Actually, from what I’ve been seeing from you lately, you’re doing pretty freaking good . So keep up the great work on your end. And thanks for the comment !
The Star Swordsman- Thank you so much, TSS . Really I love reading your reviews. I’m glad you liked it. And you will most likely be seeing more to this. I plan on coloring it in pencil then digitally coloring it. And, if the inspiration strikes me, I might do another shot from this fight. And I’d be willing to take suggestions, so if you can think of anything you’d like to see in this fight scene, please, let me know . Thanks, TSS!
Holy mackerel! That angry Violet pic is totally bad-a**, Violet Parr! I love those kinda action movie posters where the hero/heroine’s all angsty or confused and there just this general chaos in the background (which is pretty much the template for any action movie poster, really). This is so cool, I love how Violet got the bruise on her cheek and messy hair, but she’s got her teeth clenched, and her fists all balled up ready to return the favour! You also managed to imitate Haunt’s style, but in your own unique way. Your improvements and continual explorations of art is inspiring, and I have nothing to criticise about this piece, lines, posing and framing are all great!
What I think would make it more better though, is if you could maybe add a nondescript background (it could be just the wall of the back alley, or an abstract smoke and fog world), add a couple of special effects (like dust floating in the sunlight, sparks, or burning ember), and colour in the picture (or shading, if it’s B&W). Or you can go all minimalist and just have a single spotlight from a street lamp shining down on her, the mood is really up to you. I’d like to see how you render this scene, cos’ this is quite an ‘atmospheric’ one and fun to experiment with!
I have to agree with what everyone else has said so far- it’s been great watching you progress and progress with each drawing, Violet Parr, and now you’re at the point where you’re consistently drawing at a really good level and have got your characterisation and anatomy down pat. Brilliant work!
Well, I would like to see this fight from the start. What sparked it up, and how it ends. I like Violet to use some of her powers and landing a few hits. But also, I would like for her rival super to land a few hits on Violet to create a little balance. But whatever you got planed, you will amaze me.
thedriveintheatre- Thanks ! I’m so glad you liked it! And, I am currently working on a background and coloring it, so just wait a little while, and I’ll have it for ya !
lizardgirl- Thanks ! That does mean a lot to me that I’m making progress. Thanks for the encouragement !
The Star Swordsman- Thanks ! I’ll see what I can do. I might do one or two more pieces for it, but I’m currently working on a few other things that need to be taken care of. Thanks again, TSS !
Okay, sorry it’s been a long time, but here’s your next update !
I know I’ve already posted this in the Art Jams, but I wanted to re-post it in my art thread. Let me know what you think ! Happy New Year, guys!
This artwork is very nicely drawn. I love how you drew both characters really well. I don’t know who the one on the right is, but I know that the one on the right is Pixar’s own Luxo!
I love it Violet Parr! It may have been a long wait, but when I saw that you updated your artwork thread, a smile was placed on my face.
Thanks, TSS ! Oh, and I’m sorry I forgot to clarify this, but the one opposite the Luxo Lamp is Lampy from The Brave Little Toaster. It was for the Art Jams 3D-2D cross-over. I’m glad you liked it ! Thanks again, TSS!
