Violet's Love Life

Well, Violet’s dealing with her depression issues was a major side-story in the movie, and I honestly don’t think putting an extra 5 minutes in her story would have been too much. I mean, yeah, we DO have to realize that there’s only so much they can do to keep a movie good, but I still think just randomly having Tony ask Violet out was a bit…lame.

But all in all, it’ll be okay, seeing as Violet will (obviously) be the main protagonist of the sequel.

If the sequel is about Violet, than I’ve been waiting 9 years for nothing. That would be Pixar’s rock bottom for me.

What? She’s obviously a favorite character, she’s relatable to so many young teenagers, and a movie with her as the main protagonist would ROCK! I mean, it’s not like Brad Bird would make it a princess movie :stuck_out_tongue:
There would be some new villain, a BIG situation, and somehow Violet would have to overcome some unsureness to defeat this baddie and save the world.

I have nothing against princess movies, though I wouldn’t think Pixar would do that with a sequel, unless to Brave. However, I would be personally disappointed. I mean yeah she is a fan favorite, but do we really need a movie in her name? I would dislike any shift in age or prominence of the main characters. I guess I just feel a lot of things, because I’ve been waiting half of my life for a Incredibles sequel, and I don’t want to be let down by something like that. Violet is a good character, but she fades in comparison to Bob and Helen in my opinion. Now those two, I could never have enough of.

I understand both your views, but I think this topic is starting to go a little off-vine XD . There is a thread for The Incredibles sequel ideas here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4176 . Thanks, guys.

Yeah, Vi. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that, while friendly, Incredigirl and I were basically arguing more and more about Violet-related things, which eventually got to Sequels. So yeah…

Yeah, I’m not a fan of Violet having the hots for Tony. From what I’ve heard, Tony was based off of one of Brad Bird’s sons, which I can understand him wanting to put him in his film, but the character is just so BLAND. :unamused:

Exactly! I mean, I understand the shy girl having a crush on the popular jock, but it was just so underplayed that it was boring.

Wait, Tony’s suppose to be a jock? Not to stereotype, but I don’t usually associate jocks with turtleneck sweaters.

Honestly, I think it was “under developed” because the story was not about Violet. I would find it distracting if one of the side characters got more than 5 minutes focusing on love. That’s bad timing.

Well, like I said before, a couple more minutes on Violet’s story wouldn’t have killed anyone.

Also, I have a question that’s been going around: Now, I know it’s a Disney movie, and she was such a miner character, but what about Kari and Violet? I’ve read a few fics where it says that Kari is Violet’s best friend, and a few where, a couple years later, they’re a bit…more. I personally have nothing against gay relationships, they’re completely natural, and I’m curious what you all think about “Karlet”? The geeky talkative girl and the shy (super) girl who is slowly coming out of her shell is an interesting pairing, in my opinion.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. I only like canon pairings. Plus I don’t think we were ever given any evidence Kari and Vi were even good friends.

Well, she DID trust Kari enough to watch her baby brother. And I doubt she would think, “Mom and Dad are obviously up to something that will more-than-likely change our lives forever, and I need to follow them. I’ll just trust this girl I don’t know with my baby brother’s life for who knows how long.”

As for the pairings, I think it’s good to go away from canon, give it your own twist. Plus, for Violet, Tony was too underplayed, and Xander was a bit overdone. I think Kari would be neat because (officially) they live in a modern-day 60s. So, while technology and clothing are more up-to-date, homosexuality might still be outlawed. So, if there were to be a drama story or something (just saying if), then it would be neat seeing Violet not only have to hide being a super, but also the fact that she likes girls. Of course, the closest WE can get to something like this would be fanfics.

I once created a boyfriend for Violet a long time ago, of course he may need updating if I am going to use him again in a fanfic.

I still gotta agree with Virginia. Though I would have liked to see Violet get just a BIT more time, her love life was delve into just enough. Tony is a background character. And not ever BG character can be Colgate from MLP. Tony doesn’t have a story yet. That could change come come the sequel.

Though, if they do break up, I believe there should be a reason, and a good one, at that. I don’t wanna see Vi fall victim to stereotypical teenage drama. And Tony doesn’t at first come off as a jerk or anything, so to me, if they ever parted, it would be a peaceful decision of mutual desire, or because of Violet’s work getting in the way.

That said, I’m a cannon-love myself. So, yeah :stuck_out_tongue: . I am a bit bias.

Agreed. I only have the ability to support canon things. I don’t understand crack ships, or even shipping two good friends. I like canon, because the canon is what comprises the show or movie itself. That’s just my opinion though.
