Voice cast

Use this thread to discuss the voice cast just as they’re announced.
For now, the news just in from Comic Con is that Michael Keaton will voice [spoil]Ken[/spoil]. That’s right, [spoil]Ken of the line of Barbie dolls fame[/spoil]. Maybe he’ll [spoil]compete with either Buzz or Woody for the affections of one of Bo Peep or Jessie[/spoil]. We’ll see.

Michael Keaton’s new character

We’ve known this for a year. I have no idea why their pretending this is new to us.

Oh really? Well, sorry if this is old news. I didn’t know.

There were rumours… and only that before yesterday… But at Comic Con… Pixar released this statment on Twitter:

DisneyPixar: LIVE Lee Unkrich “We are proud to announce officially today that Ken in Toy Story 3 will be voiced by Michael Keaton.”

Although we may have “known” for a year… considering that it was only a rumour (and Currently still is Listed as a rumour) we now have official confirmation that Keaton is joining the cast…

This makes it his Second Pixar flick now… his first as many may remember being Cars as Chick Hicks

What made me stand up and take notice was the idea that Barbie is back and she is having a bigger role in Toy Story 3…
Well saying that I now cannot find where I got that information from!

Well with that info or not with the appearance of Ken what can you expect?

Well, luckily, you made the topic title generic enough to continue on! :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember always getting Woody and Buzz’s voice credits mixed up when I was little. I think it was because I watched a lot of Home Improvement, and it was weird to me that Tim Allen played the secondary character. I felt like he would be the main character, Woody. It’s a bit easier to realize who’s who now, being a bit older and more knowledgeable, but did anyone else ever have this problem, with any movie?

The original source was Jodi benson, always seemed official enough for me…

anyway, as for barbie having a larger role, it was from lassetter, and quoted on Pixar’s twitter.

As for what we can expect from Ken, a clip of him dancing “retro” was shown, so to me it sounds like a black an white style comerical or something made to look like it was from whenever barbie first came out is in the movie. maybe in the form of a flash back? who knows.

I’m glad that Barbie is going to have a larger role this time around. She was one of those characters that’s really stuck with me, and can be taken in many different hilarious directions. I’m also happy to see that Jodi Benson will be back to the big screen, I love her voice .

Lol, that’s a cute scene you thought up. I would love to see him do something like that. Haha that would make [spoil]Buzz and Woody[/spoil] pretty mad. Maybe a cute scene where [spoil] Ken takes a look at Jessie and Bo Peep and instantly starts flirting with one of them alot. Then as things start to spice up a bit … Woody and/or Buzz get tempted to knock Ken’s lights out. [/spoil] … or something like that. Lol, don’t take me seriously now… I’m just thinking up a random story. XDDD

Anyway, speaking of voice actors does anyone know if the entire original voice cast (with the exception of the ones who sadly passed away sad face ), will be back such as Annie Potts and a few others. I know Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and John and Wallace will be back, but what about the others?

In an interview with Lee he said the whole cast is back. It was asked if Bo Beep or Wheezy was returning, he said he couldn’t say. I hope its Bo Beep, I don’t think Wheezy CAN return. He wasn’t in much so they can’t do playback voices, if you know what I mean. And besides, he was only in 3 scenes. Maybe it’ll stay that way with Toy Story 3. I just don’t think Wheezy will be return.

I seriously doubt they wouldnt bring back Bo Peep. though I wouldnt be surprised if she has very few lines. I think Bo was Molly’s anyway. and if the movie takes place in the day care more so than Andy’s room, I could see them downplaying her part. still she’s a big part of the cast, she was all over the marketing for the original movie. she was the only female toy there before the sequel came around.

as for Wheezy, I could see them ignoring him completly, or restricting him to a small cameo appearance where he has no lines.

And Karma, why on earth are you spoil proofing your post? its not a spoiler when its something you made up out of the blue. Ken being in the movie isn’t a spoiler for that matter either.

I must admit, I’m quite happy that Pixar seem to now be giving Michael Keaton consistent work. I think he’s a fairly underrated actor who has been forgotten over time. I’m sure that he’ll put in a great performance as Ken too! I’m pleased to hear the news myself.

Although, I can’t help but wonder what they’re going to do with Slinky dog. I guess he’ll be subjected to groans and noises in the background now that Jim Varney has passed away :frowning:

No way, they found a replacement, they just havn’t anounced him yet. he was a close friend of Varney’s who, according to John, can sound just like him.

Oh well, that’s not so bad then. I guess the show must go on after all!

I could have sworn I didn’t pick that smiley, either

I’m just glad the whole cast is back.
