I think Auto and Go-4 are mean just because they were trying to stop us from going back to earth but they are kinda good because it was not there fault that they were programed to not return to earth.

what do you think :unamused:  :unamused:

Neither. It was their “Directive”.

yeah not good or bad :open_mouth:

Are there any villains in Pixar movies that could be considered totally evil? Well… Hopper perhaps. But otherwise?

And sydrom from the incredibles

happy 100th post pixart

and umm the evil emperor zerg? lol

It’s interesting about most PIXAR films, in that most of them do not have a standard ‘villain.’

With AUTO and GO-4, they have to keep to their directive, and can’t change their thoughts or programming. One would assume that if Shelby Forthright was still alive, any directives given afterwards would be taken by them.

Though one has to wonder just what happened to Shelby-maybe he died somewhere far out in space on a BnL starcruising yacht or something.

I voted niether. Like WALL-E said, it was their directive.

Not really. Mr. Incredibles rejection made him bitter and turned him into Syndrome.

i agree with fett and tss

off-topic: Fett: But he killed SUper Heroes, so I think that is really, really cruel and an evil thing to do.

back on topic now!

I’m going to agree and say that it wasn’t good or evil, just programing.

Well if you read Auto’s official bio, it says that’s he’s the oldest robot on theentire ship, and that he’s cold and directive-driven (similar to the other WALL-E bots), and G-O was his little errand man, so I don’t tnk they were by any means mean, nor were they good…they just were.

Agreed, evil is a human classification. He did see it as a way to self preserve and to survive…is that evil in a way?

Both were just doing as they were told.

Yea, unlike Wall-E and EVE and the other misfit robots, Auto didn’t develope a personality. So he was still a mindless bot that followed its directives. Even if they were out dated…

I wondered that too. I thought he and all the other Buy n Large high officials, who I think were still on Earth after all the humans left to supervise the cleanup (the movie does show Shelby Forthright talking on Earth about it being too toxic in that 2110 message to the Axiom), left on a big golden yacht-like starliner exclusively for BnL only. But I doubt that, or Buy n Large would be making new things. Either that or they got on a rocket and docked on some starliner, possibly the Axiom.

I’d say bad, even though they were programmed to do it, they weren’t listening to the Captain.

Both are controlled by authorities who program what they are to do so neither have freedom of will to change stuff…then again m-o crossed the border line becuase he had freedom of will.

The main bad guys were the controlers of the BNL company who programed the robots to do the mission “cleanupfailure” becuase their conclusion was not forward thinking.

Remember EVE, first time she saw the plant, she went crazy. The third time she saw the plant, and Wall-E already influenced EVE’s life, she ignored her programing to take it to the Axiom superior.
AUTO and GO-4 (I loved that little guy, wish he could’ve lived) were just pure robots, they haven’t been in contact with Wall-E so much and they hadn’t had time to evolve like EVE did. They were just following their directive. Given enough time with Wall-E, I bet they could improve too.
You can’t judge wether a robot is good or evil.
